||Choose Your Poison||

They tell me they are always there for me.
But their actions have never supported this.
They say I can come to them for any of my troubles.
But when I do, their persistent anger and frustrations have never supported this.
They tell me I'm not a burden, that I'm worth everything they do for me.
But their endless complaints of earlier life before I was ever here, tell me other wise.
These begin to weigh down on this little feather trying to, as they say, "folk together."
This little feather trying hold up the 20 foot steel beam at least a couple feet off the ground.
Then inches.
Then centimeters.
Then millimeters.
Until eventually under the impossible pressure of gravity and huge weight of a steel beam, this little feather...
Snaps.
Then these birds sitting atop that beam, fly down in front of this crushed little feather.
They aren't there to see if the feather is stuck. To see if the feather needs help.
Oho, no no. You have that wrong, my dear.
These birds have flown down to make a bargain.
They will relieve this broken feather of the 50 foot steel beam that's crushing it lifeless -if- this little feather will be willing to hold two 25 foot steel beams for them.
This little feather has another chance at living up to its "expectations" these birds have for him.
So what will he do?
Keep taking the bargains until it is crushed into dust by the weight of an impossible load that these birds knew it couldn't handle on its own?
Or reject the bargain and rot under the 50 foot beam while they watch from a far?
A slow, long downfall or a fast exit?
Choose your poison.
