Rain was only nineteen when his child was born, and he did not regret anything. Until he found out that the mother of his daughter, a girl that he loved to the moon and back, died.

It happened during the birth. Months of pregnancy full of happiness and expectations suddenly vanished, and Rain was left alone with their baby from the very beginning. 

They named her Aura. The truth was that he and Caroline decided on a different name, mainly because Rain disagreed, even though it was Caroline's number one name for a girl. He did not like it. But when he was in the hospital, holding their baby girl, and all the people were trying to get a name out of him for the birth certificate, he blurted out Aura. He surprised even himself. But Caroline would have loved that, right?

Unimaginably hard days, months, and even years followed. Even though he and Caroline rented out a nice apartment with a room ready for their baby girl, he moved out again right away. He came back to his parents' house because one thing was for sure - he couldn't do it alone. 

So, his parents helped him, especially his mom. Even his younger sister looked after Aura when he needed it. She was maybe only seventeen, but she was clever enough not to fuck anything up. Rain had to leave his well-paid job because he couldn't work and raise a child at the same time. And that is how he found his way to investing. 

That, plus the fact that he was still grieving Caroline, was probably the reason why it was hard for him to find his way to Aura. Of course, he loved her so much that words could not even describe it, and it would have destroyed him if something ever happened to her, but he did not know how to do the simplest things of all. He did not know how to spend time with her. He did not know how to talk to her. Her first word was Nana, how she called his mother. Not something related to him, nothing that would indicate that he was the one closest to her heart. 

But he provided her with a home. He learned to invest in such ways that he made really good money. Shortly before Aura's third birthday, they moved to a big modern flat in the city center that he bought. He could work from home, obviously, so he could spend whole days with her and didn't need babysitting much. 

Aura grew right before his eyes so fast. Suddenly, she was walking, talking. She was able to play with her favorite toys alone. But Rain noticed the differences between when she was with him and when she was with his mother. Her grandma knew how to go with her, but he did not. 

So, he did have a daughter that he loved, but he wasn't so sure how much she loved him.
