Prolouge AUGUST
Ten years from now I'll be living in a spacious Harajuku condo, striving in life instead of just barely surviving, making decent money as a Food Network pastry chef or maybe even as a New York #1 Bestselling book author. But for now, I'll just stick to being plain old S. Noelle Kingsley, roughing it out in her cramped city apartment, saving up for college by being a part-time barista. Luxurious.
You see, I moved to San Francisco (land of cozy hipster cafés and forests of wonderful street shops). Not exactly a colorful fashion district like Harajuku but it's what I've got for now. Well apparently, my home is one of those cozy hipster cafés, with the café on the first floor and the living space on the second floor. (Kind of like Hiro Hamada's house in Big Hero 6...) The apartment didn't even come with a backyard or even a decent garage. (We park in the parking lot).
But I'm not going to leave out the fact that we had a café now, of course. My mom (the foodie) is now trying to open business in that ratty old café space while my dad (the genius) had just recently found a job in Silicon Valley. Where do I fit in? There are two things you should know about me:
1) I'm a low-key schoolgirl.
2) I'm just low-key in general.
I think that's how my reputation is going to stay for the rest of the time I'm here.
