Why is it that the most read stories on this site are about emperors and billionaires?

What is it with these stories that get readers so entralled with the idea of having countless concubines and consorts? Or the prospect of being so wealthy that someone could afford a private island or the latest brand?

What sort of fantasies do these authors create to make this literary genre such a huge success?

What could it be?

A reader opens a fantasy novel about a multi billionaire gaining an interest in Chinese folklore. The billionaire in question would make a business offer to a Chinese CEO of a conglomerate company that sold electronics. One of his associates was a developer that had a long trajectory in web design and gaming, as such, the developer made a popular gaming app called My Emperor. The billionaire asked the developer a question.

"What were you thinking when you made the game?"

To this developer smiled, "That easy? Who wouldn't want to have a harem and rule a continent with an iron fist?"
