Best Antagonist
The antagonist, the rival, the frienemy, the archenemy, the sworn nemesis — you name it. The terms every reader and writer are aware of.
You know the old saying: “Your worst enemy is yourself.” “You are your own worst enemy.” Or is there?
The story is not as engaging nor entertaining if there isn't any conflict or someone to fight against. The types of enemies are known through storytelling ranging from Human vs. Nature, Human vs. Self, Human vs. Animal, Human vs. Alien, Human vs. Ideology, Human vs. God, etc.
It's human nature to look for someone — or something — to blame regardless of the circumstances or the turn of events that would lead you to face your worst enemy.
Cue the antagonist: it could be any antagonist, from the despicable villain to the neighbor next door.
Everyone has an enemy regardless of who they are or where they came from. Even God Almighty has an enemy.
There are many types of enemies: the school bully, the nosy neighbor, the narcissitic parent, the vile babysitter, the terrible boss, the vengeful crazy ex, the envious step-sibling, the sociopath, the sadist, the common criminal, the corrupt politician, the evil stepparent, the hacker, the stalker, the serial killer, the devil, etc.
In this category, here are the antagonists you love to hate — or straight out despise them — deserve to be on the list of Best Antagonist.
