Sophie's POV

Rain falling down on all sides. Linh. She needed Linh. Linh would help. "I can't hold them for much longer, Sophie!" A voice cried from her left. She tried to see who it was, but the rain was blocking her view.

Suddenly, three figures in long black cloaks ran and grabbed her. "Help! Someone, please!" she cried. Who were these figures? The Neverseen? No, there was no white eye shape on the sleeve.

"Sophie? Are you okay? Where are you?" The voice asked her. She tried to reply, but the figures had pressed something against her mouth. She froze for a second when she realized what it was. A sedative.

No! She thought in her head. She tried transmitting, but it seemed like her something was blocking her. "She's trying to use her abilities again! We need to knock her out." Someone screamed. She had to help them!

Someone kneeled down and whispered in her ear, "Your friends are gone now. You will never save your mother. You have nothing." Then everything went black.

          Sophie awoke with a start, shaking. She'd been having the same dream for the past week. Nothing was helping. She had even taken a sedative, but a simple one at that. She sighed. She didn't want to worry anyone, but she needed Silveny to comfort her dreams. 

           Silveny? Are you there? Sophie transmitted. She waited a little. Nothing happened. Silveny? Please, I wouldn't ask if it wasn't a big deal, but I've been having nightmares.

          Suddenly a loud voice came in. SOPHIE OKAY? SOPHIE OKAY? SOPHIE OKAY? Sophie smiled. I'm okay, I promise. I just can't sleep. Something bad keeps giving me nightmares. 

           HELP! SOPHIE! SLEEP! HELP! SOPHIE! SLEEP! HELP! SOPHIE! SLEEP! It was suddenly quiet for a little. Sophie thought Silveny had left, but then she sent images of her and Sophie, flying together, playing together, Sophie feeding Silveny, with lots of pictures of Keefe woven in. Suddenly, Sophie heard a different voice in her head. Keefe's voice. Talking to Silveny. Sophie wasn't sure how Silveny had a recording of Keefe's voice, but Sophie wasn't annoyed. In fact, the thought of Keefe being there comforted her. She finally fell asleep.

Keefe's POV

           Keefe was having a perfectly good sleep when a loud voice came into his head. At first, he thought it was Sophie because her name kept chanting over and over again in his head, but then he realized that it made no sense. Why would Sophie scream her own name loudly? 

          SOPHIE! SOPHIE! SOPHIE! NEEDS HELP! NEEDS HELP! NEEDS HELP! Keefe paused. He recognized this. Glitterbutt? He thought tentatively. KEEFE! KEEFE! KEEFE! GLITTERBUTT! GLITTERBUTT! GLITTERBUT! Keefe gasped. How are you contacting me? Am I secretly a Telepath without knowing? HOW ARE YOU DOING THIS?!?!

           Silveny didn't answer, though, she just transmitted loudly, SOPHIE! NEEDS! HELP! NIGHTMARES! CAN'T SLEEP! Keefe glanced up, half expecting her to come flying out of the sky. Can't you just do your thing? You know, send her pictures? Silveny paused for a second. Then her voice came blaring in again and he winced. How did Sophie handle this? Well, she handled many things that most people would be crying on the ground, howling, for. 

          SEND! SOPHIE! PICTURES! SEND! SOPHIE! PICTURES! SEND! SOPHIE! PICTURES! Keefe wondered why she hadn't thought of that in the first place. She must be very tired. KEEFE! GLITTERBUTT! BYE! Keefe grinned. Bye, Glitterbutt. Give Foster some good dreams. She deserves it. 

Sophie's POV

          After the first restful night of sleep she'd had in a week, Sophie woke up and stretched. Sandor opened the door. "You slept?" He asked. She nodded with a big grin on her face and headed downstairs. There was warm mallowmelt on the table. She missed Edaline. She sat down but wasn't hungry.

         All happy thoughts from the night before disappeared. She moodily poked at the mallowmelt and waited for Grady. 

            A little while later he walked in. His hair was ruffled and his eyes were red and puffy. Sophie felt horrible. She had been complaining about a simple nightmare, while Grady probably hadn't slept at all since Edaline had gone missing. 

           The previous sad smiles that Grady had given her were gone, replaced by a cold, hard, stone look. Sophie placed a hand on his arm, but he didn't even look up. "If the council doesn't do anything else, I'll mesmer them into doing it," Grady muttered under his breath.

          "Grady!" Sophie exclaimed. "You can't do that. The council is trying, and if you mesmer them, they might stop looking out of anger!" She expected Grady to sigh, or yell, or anything, but his reaction was so much worse. He started crying. She had never seen Grady cry before, so she felt helpless. 

            All she did was go over and hug him. They clung to each other for what seemed to be days, but it was probably more like minutes. Finally, Grady wiped his eyes and stood up. "I'll go check in with Alden and see if there's been any news. You might want to invite Dex over." 

           Sophie nodded and hugged Grady tightly one more time. He headed to his office, and Sophie quickly gulped down her mallowmelt and then headed back to her room. It wasn't as good as Edaline's, but she couldn't complain. It was mallowmelt. 

             She threw on a tunic and pants, and even let Vertina walk her through a complicated hairstyle. She didn't want to have anyone be worried about her, and she wanted to make sure she looked presentable and not like a little girl when Dex came over. 

             There was a knock at the door and Sophie went to answer it. But when she opened the door, she was surprised to see it wasn't Dex. In his place stood a beautiful, blond-haired boy with a trademark smirk.

         Okay, so to the few people that tolerate my bad writing, I will be posting a chapter every day if I can. Sometimes I might forget or have something coming up, so I might not be able to do it every day, but I will try to do it as much as often. Thank you so much for reading this!
