Chapter 14

Keefe's POV

They stepped out of the void and Keefe winced from the bright sunlight. He looked around, confused. "How is it so early? We just left a minute ago, and it was dark," he asked no one in particular.

Sophie winced as well, but Keefe felt that it wasn't from the sunlight. "What?" he asked her, worried. "Well, I kind of realized... the void messes up some things. It's not like how when we teleport to get off a cliff. It feels like it's only a couple seconds for us, but really, it was more like... 5 hours?" Keefe gaped at her.

"Why did we do it, then?" he asked, confused. Sophie sighed, like she didn't want to talk about it. "Um... when you were... unconscious..." Keefe nodded in understanding. "You mean when my creepy mom wrapped me up in creepy shadows and I was creepily unconscious for weeks?" Sophie gave a small smile and nodded. "Okay. Just making sure I understood," he smirked.

"Okay, when you were unconscious, I had to take you to Elwin's office so he could treat you, and like I said, the voids just opened up in front of me. I ran through them, and suddenly I was there. But the thing is, when I was blinking, I didn't just teleport to another place. It made it go faster. If I had just jumped off a cliff to teleport, I would have arrived seconds later because of the time it takes when I'm falling. But when I blinked, It somehow took away the time that I had spent running, and just made me appear at the exact time I left. It was like I traveled back in time or something. It's so weird, and I really hate it because then I think about if I did travel back in time or whatever, does that mean that there's a different version of me around here? Or in the future? And then I start thinking about that too hard and it makes my brain hurt and then I get really worried and then-" she took a deep breath. "Okay, I'm going to sit down for a minute."

Keefe watched in amusement as Sophie lay her head in her arms. "I don't know. I don't think you traveled back in time," Keefe said slowly. "But-" Sophie said, not lifting her head from her arms. "I know," Keefe interrupted, "The whole thing is really weird. But I think it did only make time go faster. You didn't travel back in time at all, it just seemed like it because the time for you was all messed up. Like now," Keefe gestured to the sun. "It's morning, but I don't think we traveled to the future, right? Time just made it seem like we were only in there for a little. I'm sure if we wait for a little, the rest will show up. Or maybe they're already here. Let's just go look around, Foster."

"I agree." a voice came from behind them. Keefe and Sophie jumped and turned around. Ro flashed a big smile. "Forgot I was here, huh?" Keefe rolled his eyes.

Ro sauntered over to them, surveying the area. "Wow, it's really bright here. Where are we again? I wasn't listening to the whole speech thing." Keefe high-fived her. "You and me both, Princess."

It was Sophie's turn to roll her eyes. "Dex thought we should go to Rhimeshire because his dad is out with Alden, looking for Juline. I know, I can't believe a Dizznee is willing to talk to a Vacker without any anger!" Sophie said, probably seeing their surprised faces. "Anyway," Sophie continued, "The reason it's so bright is because of that." She pointed to the Dizznee's huge ice palace-looking house. Ro's jaw dropped and Keefe smirked.

"The sun is reflecting off of the ice and it makes it brighter. So it's not mostly because of the sun. The triplets are out, too, for a sleepover at their friend's house." Sophie finished.

"Oh, I thought you knew," came a voice. "Not all of them are out." Keefe and Sophie slowly turned around, prepared for the worst. There in front of them, casually leaning against the wall of the huge ice palace, was Bex with a smirk on her face.

                       And a hooded figure. Glimmer.

                       And finally, Fitz.
