Chapter 1: Lavender
Sakura ran around the house. She knew it was a dream, but she was determined to explore every bit of it. The energy seemed to radiate something unfamiliar, safety, warmth.
She stopped when a butterfly landed on the dining table. Its black wings fluttered gently, then it flew away. "No, wait!" Sakura cried, chasing after it. It seemed to have no use though, as she ran into the waking world.
"No, why?" Sakura mumbled. The young eevee looked at her brother, who was stashing away some food. The world seemed to be filled with red today as pokemon screamed in distant halls.
Tamao huffed when he finished. "Could you be quieter in your sleep? It makes the scientists think you're distressed." Tamao asked. Sakura nodded. "Okie! Sorry." She apologized. Tamao nodded and fiddled with the tag the scientists put on them.
Sakura started to play around, chasing her tail. Then humans grabbed her. Sakura yipped. Tamao let out a hiss, and Sakura tried to get back to her brother, but it failed.
The scientists took Sakura into another room. Then, they took out something sharp- something pointy.
They poked Sakura with it, and it hurt. A thin line was made from the sharp object, and it hurt so much. She screamed and cried, then a rush of energy shot through her.
Sakura was confused when it stopped hurting. She looked at her arm and the bloody line was gone. The scientists cheered with delight and excitedly put her back with her brother.
"What happen?" Sakura asked. "Nothing. They wanted to see you use a certain move so they can start pairing you up with possible mates." Tamao responded.
"What does that mean?" Sakura asked. "It means they want you to have many kids with many pokemon. There would be no choice in who you have kits with, and all your kits- and your mate will be taken away." Tamao explained.
"Wha-? Why!?" Sakura cried. "Because humans are greedy. Never use that move again, and make the bloody mark back, we have to have them think that they imagined it." Tamao answered.
Sakura nodded and cut her arm again. It hurt but it wasn't nearly as painful. She wanted to stop hurting, but she knew what would happen if she healed herself again.
After a few moments, scientists came back. One let out a disappointed sigh as they saw Sakura's wound. The humans sounded red and blue.
The scientists shrugged it off and took Tamao out of the room.
Sakura waited boredly for her brother to return, so she started attacking the wall. The orange was almost a pretty color, so she kept at it. When her brother returned, he was covered in scratches.
"Wha happen?" Sakura asked. She felt bad for her brother, and she wanted him to stop hurting. "It's fine, don't worry!" Tamao smiled. He then laid down, and Sakura laid down next to him, only for him to push her away.
"Don't get close to me, or they'll do it to you too." Tamao lied. Sakura, believing this lie, innocently nodded and swiftly ran to the other side of the pen. "Actually, since no one is going to be coming near, why don't we train? We can become strong, then we can escape!" Tamao suggested. Sakura excitedly agreed, then trained with her brother.
They used simple attacks, not really hurting each other. When they were finished, Sakura was exhausted and collapsed, ready for that dream with the butterfly again.
