part 4
it feels like summer
the warmth of the sun
pressed lightly against my hollow domain
the city's rooftops burnt in glory
teen spirit wafted through the air
it felt like summer
i clutched onto the edges of adrenaline
overlooking a thin ledge onto rush hour down below
the rough cement grazed my elbow
but i was overwhelmed in excitement
ignoring the faint pain
while souls around me jumped in joy
time flew fast
the piano's cover had finally been lifted
and it's notes found solace in bill evans
in the presence of a lonely crowd of one
many evenings passed
through coffee and living on the ledge
i had made history
summer had left and autumn came after
bringing the dread of dying leaves
and only then could i detach my heart from hers
