When Latina was younger [ flash back]

In the church cellar of wall sina

" oh great goddess, we posses your chosen one, we ask of you to grant her the strength we need, to vanquish our foes...the Titans" people wearing black robes with black hoods, surrounded a young child, lying on a stone table restrained, eyes slightly open showing absolutely no emotion, or no intention that the girl was moving

" we beg of you-"

" there's trouble!" A man burst into the room , surprising the people in the room" there here! The creed are- AHHHh!!!" Screamed as he was stabbed by a small blade through the stomach, the man dropped onto the floor, screaming, then three people walked in, wearing dark brown suits, hoods, swords attached to their sides, the one in the middle walked forward in anger

" no! You mustn't! She's a chosen one! She is the only way to vanquish the Titans!- AHH!!" The man kicked the old sounding man backwards, he moaned in pain as two other black robed people rushed to his side " she is the only way you say!? This is a child you've corrupted! There are other ways for the Titans to be destroyed!! But not this!!" The man yelled, cutting the child's restraints, the picking her up in his arms

" don't worry, your safe now" he reassured the child, but she did not respond, she looked at him for a moment, before staring up at the ceiling, making him frown " let's get her out of here" the woman in the brown suit said

He nods and they run out as the rat of their allies retreat

Time skip

The creed soldiers arrived back to the one of their bases in shiganshina, the man still held tight to the child in his arms " I see you brought someone back with you" a old man dressed in white approached him " those monsters from the cult actually thought something this to a child would end the Titans rein....what has our world come to..." The man whispered, with anger and hatred in his voice " how is the child?" The old man asked

" she barely responds with her voice, she's covered in cuts and bruises...and I don't even know anything about her parents" the man answered " there gone...." The man looked stunned when he hard a croaky small voice, from the child in his arms

" mommy....and daddy...are gone..someone else I knew...is gone too..." The little girl in his arms croaked again

" it's alright young one, your safe now, the members of the cult can't harm you anymore" the old man reassured " what are we going to do?" A younger sounding woman approached the three " you two take care of this child" the two adults looked stunned " b-but how, w-we don't even have any children of our own, how can we possibl-" " we'll do it" the woman cut the man off " Amelia how!? We don't know anything about looking after a child!" The man argued " we can't just say no! Look at her! What if the cult finds her again!?" The woman argued back, the man let out a sigh " fine we'll do it" the man said, he then looked down upon the small child " what is your name little one?" He asked

".........Latina......."

time Skip

The were a lot of people screaming and running for their lives, the Titans had just started to attack, members of the creed, rushed into battle to assist the military police, the ones who remained to help take care of little Latina and maintain the base, while bringing injured people in the undergrounds for medical attention, the little child approached the old man in white, who sitting with a hand over his face, she gave a small tug on his robe

" grand pa?" She said " Latina? My child what's the matter, you should be hiding like the others" he picked her up placing her on his lap " you said before that you needed to get me away from the cult, and that I was something special right?" She asked " indeed I did, but why do you ask?" He questioned raising an eyebrow

" what if I joined the scouts" She answered, the mans eyes widened " the reason I ask is because....you said I was destined to end the war and save humanity.....and that you wanted to keep me from the cults grasp...so I thought if I joined the scouts...then maybe I can make a difference?" She questioned

" my child...the are something's in this world that can't be explained....you can use your gift in front of people, if you were to, they would only feel more scared....I don't know another way of me explaining this to you" the man sighed " then I won't use it in front of people" the girl spoke again " I want to help people...just like all of you" the girl looked away

After the battle, her adopted parents returned, the old an explained what she said and immediately their eyes widened, later on they tried to explained to her that it was too dangerous, but the girl kept protesting, eventually they knew they couldn't change her mind, so instead they both decided to train her, over time, she learn how to find hand to hand, handle weapons, how to hide weapons on her when dressed normally and not like the creed in their suits, she even learned how to control the so called powers, and even discovered different ability so she didn't know she could do

' I'm gonna destroy the Titans.....but nobody is going to tell me how to do it....il do it....upon my own free will....I will save humanity...'

Flash back end

Loads of cadets stood in lines, delivering the salute with hard looks and determination, instead of being scared and intimidated by commander Keith shadis, who kept strolling along between lines, looking in every cadets eyes to find weakness

" hey! Mop top!" The commander walked over to a small blond boy " sir!" He did the cadets salute " what do they call you maggot!?" Commander demanded " armin arlert from shiganshina oh sir!" The boy answered

" wow seriously!? Why would your parents curse you with such a Dumb name!?"

" it's was my grandfather sir!"

" cadet arlert! Why is a runt like you here!?" The commander demanded

" to help humanity overcome the Titans!" The boy closed his eyes gritting his teeth

" that's delightful to hear! Your gonna be a great light snack for them!" He then grabbed the boys head and turned him round, the boy had a look of horror on his face " row three! About face runt!!" He then moved on to another person, a tall blonde "What do you call yourself?" He did the salute

" sir, my name is Thomas Wagner, I'm from the trost district-" " I can't here you!!" The commander cut him off

" I'm from trost sir!" He raised his voice

" nobody here gives a damn!" He moved onto a short girl with black hair " next!"

" sir! My name is mina Carolina! I'm from calaneth!" The girl saluted

" is a pathetic worm like you all calaneth has to offer!?!?" The commander yelled in her face, the poor girl sweat dropped

" sir! I'm afraid that's the case sir!!!" He continued to yell at her

After moving on from mina, Eren just happened to see a person wearing a hood over their head, but couldn't see his or her face ' who's that?' He thought, just then commander shadis walked over to the person " WHO ARE YOU!?" He yelled " sir! Latina sander! From shiganshina sir!" She replied, saluting, It was defiantly a girl ' she's from shinganshina?....' Eren says in thought with a surprised look on his face

" AND WHY ARE YOU HERE CADET!?" The commander demanded " to end the Titans! And set humanity free!" She answered

" THATS THE WORST ANSWER IVE EVER HEARD! AND WHY ARE YOU WEARING A HOOD!?!?" The man was practicly yelling at the poor girl, but everyone was surprise that she didn't tremble that not one tear was shed

" To keep people's attention off of me! Sir! My appearance has been told to be very attracting!" He actually didn't yell anymore, in fact he just flung her hood off, that's when everyone's eyes, widened, beautiful green eyes like emeralds, light cream skin, and the most beautiful red hair like a rose, in a pony tail by a purple ribbon, the girl still frowned, narrowing her eyes up at the commander " I can see why now....you may put you hood back up! You'll just end up as Titan food" He grumbled, then walked away

Latina growled under her breath then pulled her hood back up ' she's an angel....' Was what a handful of people thought

" and what do we have here?" The commander moved onto a tall boy with light brown hair next to the hooded girl " Jean kirschstein sir! From the trost district!" He saluted

" and why are you here cadet?!"

" to join the military police, the best of the best" Jean answered with a confident smile

" that's nice....you wanna live in the interior?" The commander asked " yes!" The guys smile the disappeared when the commander head butted the guy, he fell on to his knees, clenching his head

" nobody told you to sit recruit! If you can't handle this kirschstein then forget about joining the military police!!!" He left the boy on the ground clenching his head, without the commander seeing, the girl kneeled down and gave her hand, he looked up astonished, he hesitated for a moment but took her hand, then got up with her help, the commander then stopped at the guy next to who had a smile

" what's the hell's wrong with your face you smiling idiot!?!" The commander yelled' the guy still had a smile " marco dobt At your service sir! From the south side of wall rose! I am to join the military police and give life and limb service to the king!" He smiled proudly " well then....that makes you an idealistic fool....and a rube....you want the truth?" He leaned close, the boys smile was replaced with a looked of terror " the only use the king has for you is as Titan fodder" he then moved onto the boy next to him, leaving Marco terrified " hey cue ball! Your up next!" He announced

" oh m-me...." The boy stuttered " sir! Connie springer from ragako village sir!" He saluted but the wrong way, which ended up with him, lifted off the ground by his head, also being pulled at the head " you have it backwards connie springer....that was the first thing you were taught, the salute represent the resolve in your heart to fight those spent on the systematic destruction on our people..is your heart on your right side!?!?" He was practically ripping his head in two, but stopped in his tracks when heheard a crunching sound, and saw a brown haired girl eattingsoming I her hand, everyone's eyes immediately widened, he then dropped the boy onto the ground and turned to the girl

" hey you there.....what do you think your doing?..." He started walking towards her, she looked around, eyes wide, then looked back at the commander, and took anothe bite, making the boy next to her gape " YOUR OFFICIALLY ON MY SHIP LIST!!! JUST WHO THE HELL ARE YOU!?!?" The commander demanded, The girl chewed then swallowed, then did the salute with the piece of food in her right hand " sasha braus from dopper Village! Reporting for duty sir!" She answered

" sasha braus huh?...and what is that your clenching in your right hand?..." Commander asked

" a steered potato! It just sat there in the mess hall begging to be eaten! Sir!" She answered

" the theft I understand....but why....why eat it here of all places?.." He questioned

" it looked delicious, a sit was getting cold, so I gave it shelter in my stomach sir"

" why...I can't comprehend....why would you eat that potato?.." The girl looked at him nervous, but also confused " are you asking me why people eat potatoes? I'm surprised you don't know sir" everyone stood there looking at her in shock, she then took her left hand off her back and ripped the potato in half, the sighed then proceeded to hand it to the commander " here sir...have half" she offered

" have half...really?"he asked astonished She smiled at him nervously

The girl got punished and was told to keep running around on the course until sundown, and also meal restrictions for at least five days

" man...I thought shadis was gonna kill potato girl" marco says as the five watch the girl running around the course " I know, one hell of a first day, it's funny...being told to run until sun down didn't seem to bother her nearly as much as loosing meal privileges for the next five days" eren said " I think she said she was from dropper village, if I remember right, that's a small hunting village up in the mountains" connie noted, suddenly, eren saw a carriage leaving along the road with a few people sitting inside " what's that?" He asked " they re drop outs...they prefer to work in the fields" mina answered

" but...it's only the first day" marco exclaimed in a surprised tone " that's the way it is...." Eren exhaled, catching everyone's attention " they can't handle the pressure..I can't believe anyone would rather pull plants than fight" marco properly turned to him " oh yeah, you never said where you were from eren" eren put a hand on armins shoulders " same as armin, from shiganshina" eren smiled

" you've seen it!?! The collosal Titan!?!?" Connie exclaimed " yeah...I did"

Just as the group was about to head towards the mess hall, armin noticed the same hooded girl that shadis couldn't break sitting amongst the cliff looking out towards the sunset

" hey guys...quick question" the group stopped and looked at him " does anyone know who she is?" He pointed towards her, making they're eyes follow his finger

" no actually, nobody knows who she is, in fact nobody's seen anyone like her, I think her name is...Latina?" mina answered

" well....she said she was from shiganshina, you think she saw the Titan attack?" Connie questioned " no doubt about it..." Eren said with a serious ' I still can't get over how beautiful she is under that hood..but why do I feel like...I've met her before...' He wondered as she had stood up and was walking along the cliff side

At the mess hall

Latina sat by herself, not wearing her pony tail under her hood, she heard some people at the table opposite her talking about the Titans attack from some guy called eren" yeah okay....I saw the big guy" he said, which made her clench her fists, whenever she heard someone mention the Titans or the colossal Titan, it made her feel angry, most of the people from the creed she knew got killed by them, it also became one latina's main reasons to join the scouts

" umm, excuse me?" She turned and was met with a girl with blonde hair, she smiled and asked " is it alright if is it with you?"

Latina was slightly stunned but held it together " ....not at all" she replied, the girl sat down, placing her tray down on the table

" I'm christa by the way" she lent her hand out for Latina to shake, she hesitated for a moment, then gave in " I'm Latina" she said " it's nice to meet you, by the way, you were very brave when commander shadis was trying to intimidate you, how did you manage not to break in front of him?" She asked out of curiosity

" it wasn't too hard, I just kept thinking to myself, that I'm not afraid, to be honest, fear isn't a word in my vocabulary anymore" Latina answered, taking a sip from her cup " still, you were very brave, I wish I had that kind of bravery" christa admitted

" thanks" Latina mumbled, just then she heard arguing

" are you trying to pick a fight?" she looked over and saw two boys, eren yaeger and Jean kirschstein " stop it you guys" another boy said " yeah sure, makes no difference to me" Jean got up from his seat " oh great..." Latina grumbled getting up

" l-Latina!-" Christa stuttered

before she could interfere, everyone heard the bells going off, signalling it was time to turn in, Christa turned to her surprised, before anyone else saw, Latina slipped some bread in her hood she had taken off " I thought you hated your hood off?" Christa stated

" I do, but that sasha girl needs food and water or she's gonna lose strengh to survive here, and I don't want anyone seeing me take food from here" Latina explained " your very caring" Christa smiles, while the girl looked away, she didn't know how to react when it came to talking to nee people, As she wasn't exactly normal anymore, so she didn't want her to know

" then il help by bringing water" she said " alright" Latina nodded, Christa decided to wait outside for Latina, as she was about to leave she heard " umm excuse me!" She turned herself round and saw the boy from before with the light hair

" I just- umm....." She looked at him confused " I'm sorry...it's just....I've never really seen anyone like you before...it's just..." He kept rambling" I'm sorry....you have....beautiful red hair...." He complimented with a blush "...thanks...." Latina said nodding, then walked out, leaving the boy completely stunned, he shook his head and ran out, he saw the girl walking away with some other girl, and the previous girl with the black hair walking with eren, connie just happened to be walking by humming to himself, Jean then wiped his hand on his back

" what the hell!? Leave my clothes alone damnit!!" Connie kept reaching at his back trying to find anything wiped on " what did you wipe on me!?"

" don't worry....just my trust" jean deepanned

Meanwhile

" finally.......finished..." Sasha huffed as she struggled to walk straight towards her sleeping quarters , she then fell limp onto the ground, she then heard the steps of two people approaching, she then took a sniff of the air and her eyes immediately opened wide, but instead of normal brown, they were like a predator with red, she launched herself towards the smell"ow!...." Latina fell to the ground grunting

" Latina!" Christa kneeled down to her wish concern, both looked over at a savage sasha who was crouched down

" it's bread!!" She exclaimed " there isn't more...it was all Latina could take.." Christa exclaimed with two hands on the red heads shoulders, sasha looked over  in surprise " wait, you should drink a little water" she held it up in her pouch, the girls eyes widened till " are you two some kind of godesses!?! Glory onto you both!!!" The girl exclaimed, placing both her hands on both girls shoulders

" just What are you three girls doing" both Christa and sasha looked scared and surprised ymirs sudden approach, while Latina looked with a monotone face, sasha quickly started wolfing down the bread

" she's been running all day without food or water" Christa explained " i see, so your both trying to be nice?" she asks, sasha finished the bread then collapsed on Latina's lap

" what's the point in breaking the rules for potato girl?" She asked " that mindless act of kindness gets you absolutely no where" Christa remained quiet but Latina had other plans

" not really " she said, making ymir raise an eyebrow

" some people may not show kindness to others, but there will always be someone that will return, or give someone kindness, like Christa here" she says making the girl blush

" but it can be useful, it means you have someone you can trust, and trust is relevant, kindness is a small demonstration of gaining ones trust" she says

both stared at each other intensely, in the end ymir sighed and walked up to sasha, pulling her up on her back " whatever, smart mouth, let's just get her to bed already" she groaned " I'm confused...are you being nice?" Christa asked confused" I'm helping her so that she'll owe me one in the future, I intend to make use of her stupidity" ymir smirked ' wow....' Latina thought unamused

Next day was training, in which everyone learn how to balance with the gear " listen up! It is aptitude test time! Fail here, and your shipped off to the fields!" The commander warned, loads of people gulped and gasped, many cadets gave it a try, and they actually succeeded, well.....almost everyone, eren jaeger was dangling upside down, having difficulty getting back up, instead, he just dangled there

" What is your major malfunction Yaeger!? Straighten yourself up!" The commander yelled, loads of cadets snickered, while others looked at him in sympathy next there was a boy with jet black hair, he gave it a try but ended up falling back " what is your damage carter!!!" Loads of cadets snickered at him too

" alright sanders, your last, don't dissapoint me!"

" sir!" She walked up to the gear, then was attached to it, she gave a nod, signalling that she was ready, she started getting lifted off the ground, loads of cadets stared in surprise and shock when the saw how well balanced she was

" wow! She's awesome!" One girl cheered

" she didn't even tip over!!" One boy exclaimed

" she's so cool!!"

" impressive, you've made the cut cadet" the commander says as she was lowered back down, she was assisted in getting off the mbm, she walked past eren, who couldn't stop staring at her in awe

Time skip

" just remember the basics and you should be fine." Mikasa states.

The three were at the training ground, trying to help Eren balance on the maneuver.

" no need to try any fancy manurers, just focus on your balance, then distribute your weight evenly between the belts on your waist and your legs." She adds

" loosen up your stance a little bit." Armin says as Eren looks behind his shoulder,

" if I can do it, I know that you can." Eren gives a nervous look at his friends and slowly nods,

"Okay, a loose stance but balance, let's give it a shot armin." Armin his head and started circling the lever up and down. Eren gradually gets lifted off the ground and tries to do what they told him, but instead...

BAM!

He hits the ground head

Mess hall

Eren and his friends decided to say longer and try to help him learn to keep his balance, but it didn't work out, when they arrived to the mess hall, she had a bandage on his forehead, with a shocked expression also, Latina was sitting opposite the table from them, just then she caught the conversation from the other table next to her

" hey daz, he was talking it about but hint all the Titans, but he got really quiet after mbm training" one guy taunted, this made Latina's blood boil " I guess it's the fields for him, can't waste food on the useless, like that other guy carter!" The guys on that table started laughing, but then were cut off when they heard someone banging their fist against the table, which they flinch

" can you guys shut the hell up?..." They turned to Latina, some people looked over curious to what was going on, the girl didn't even look up from her food " what's with you hood? Since when are you so talkative? Latina~" One of them taughted, making his friends laughed, which catching everyone's attention

" I'm getting really sick of your annoying taunting, so I'd like you to either shut the hell up, continue your meal in silence if you got nothing but rude insults to says, or get the hell out of here " she says with no emotion from under her hood, making the other cadets around her snicker, some trying to contain their laughter " say that again b!tch!" One yelled getting up from his seat " alright..." She got up from her seat, standing tall and said

" I'm getting sick and tired of hearing your irritating and annoying voices, talking trash about others, but when it's about you, where are those taunts smiles and laughs, pathetic" she spat, others just stared at her in awe, even eren and his friends ' she's standing up for me? And the other guy who failed? ' He thought, the other guy who failed the tart too was still staring at her in awe, And rather flattered that she was also stepping up for him

" oh yeah!? Who do you think your dealing with!?" One guy was about to punch her " sto!-" But eren and the guy were about to shout, but

Latina ducked her head, then punched the guy in the gut, the crowd ' ohh!' As he clenched his stomach, then  kicked him in chest, knocking him backwards, onto the ground, the crowd once again ' oohh!!!" Once more, but even louder, he may they're groaning in pain

The two other guys flinched when she made eye contact " one of you both wants to go next?" She asked

they both put up their hands in surrender " nope!" She then started walking away " like I said..." she says passing them, as soon as she walked out of the room, the two fell on the knees out of fear that was built up

" damn....she can be scary..." Connie muttered

" yeah, but she really did put them in their place" Reiner commented covering his mouth amused

Outside

As soon as she stepped outside, she structure arms out, trying to get the sore pain out of her body

Just as she was about to head to her quarters, she heard " excuse me!" Latina turned and saw the other boy who failed the amplitude test, hey stiffened once she acknowledged him

" sorry, it's just...that was amazing!" He said, while catching his breath " um.. thanks, is there anything else I can help you with? " she asked tilting her head while raising an eyebrow

" well...if you have the time....could you maybe...help me balance?" He asked, she stared astonished " why me?" She asked

" w-well..it's because....your the most amazing one here...and well...I don't wanna work in the fields!" Her eyes widened " I wouldn't be here if it weren't for my brother...he does trying to save me...I wanna fight! I wanna avenge him! Please help me! I'd be so great full! " he begged, pressing both his hands together, she actually admired how dedicated he was " okay" she nodded

" really!?!" He asked surprised " sure, meet me by the course after lights out, don't get caught" she whispered, through with the emotional-less face

" okay" he said " I'm zane carter by the way" he lent out his hand for her to shake " Latina sander" she replied, shaking his hand

" what's the trick to posture control? Hard to say, guess I got the gift, you just gotta feel it, ya know." Connie smirks at Eren to which, Jean comes in,

" I'm trying to figure out your trick,... you've screwed up every way imaginable short of an accidentally equipment related
Asphyxiation." Eren looks between them in panic

"Please guys... you've gotta help me I'm begging you!"  Armin goes to move Eren away from the two, but stops when he hears Connie, " that's funny, wasn't it just yesterday you said if you can't handle the pressure you gotta leave"?" He takes a step back, staring at them with worry and even more panic.

Connie continues, making Eren almost having a stroke, " no. Wait, Wasn't it "if your a complete idiot you gotta leave"? Something like that" 

"Oh come on! I heard from everyone that your both really good at it! Bertolt! Reiner!" Reiner had his arms crossed while Bertolt had his knees up against his chest as Reiner shakes his head, "Sorry kid, but there isn't any special trick to just hanging there. Not to be harsh but if it's advice you want I'm not really the guy."  Eren slumps, sighing sadly, "Alright..." 

"Let's just hope it comes to you tomorrow," Armin said.

As the two were about to leave Bertolt spoke up, "hold on...weren't the toe of you originally from Shiganshina?" They sit back down as Armin nods in approval, "Yeah that's right." 

"Then you should know firsthand how terrifying they are. Why on earth would  you want to be soldiers?"

The two look at each other and back at them as Armin replies, " I didn't see the things eren did, he saw their bloodlust first hand before and one realised how bad it was, and i...I knew I couldn't sit idly by as the royal government forced the citizenry into the fail territory retrieval operation"

"I see."

"So where are the two of you from?" Armin asked  

"Oh Reiner and I... we were both from a mountain village south-east of Wall Maria." Their heads perk up, "But...then that means"

Bertholt nods, "Yeah. Unlike the more prosperous  river towns, our village didn't eecieve word right away, the Titans were on us before we even knew what was going on. It happened at dawn...all the livestock were so restless...soon after we heard these strange rumbling that just Became louder and louder. Eventually I realised those rumblings were the sound of death getting closer...I...I looked out my window and ..."  He trails off, causing Armin to gulp due to nervousness.

Armin gulped, bertholt continues on though, "After that...well...everything's just a blur...I think we all just panicked." Reiner rolls his eyes to him " hey, easy now, your just getting yourself worked up again" 

"Sorry. Basically what I've been trying to say is this, the four of us aren like the rest of them."

"Them who?"

"The others here, who've never been witness to the Titans horror,."  Reiner places his hand on Bertolt's arm, "Hey." He gestures his head to the group of boys in the room, not wanting them to hear the conversation they were having. 

After lights out

Zane waited for his roommates to fall asleep, Go to see was about two, when he saw four of them sneak out, eren, arm in, Reiner and bertholt

As soon as he thought they were gone he snuck out without the rest of his roommates hearing, he started heading towards the training course, Latina stood by " Latina!" He called out to her whispering

" there you are, what took so long?" She questioned " sorry, I had to wait for my roommates to fall asleep" he answered, Not bothering to tell her about the other for that snuck out

" alright, follow me" she said, both started walking away from the course, which made same question

" I thought we were doing it here" he said " and have someone catch us?" She raise a brow, she picked up a lantern as they got to the fence, both climbed over

" good point..." he coughed, clearing his throat

" I didn't just sit around or use equipment like the ones they have here, I always trained outdoors with my parents, but enough talk, let's get to work" she said, as they made it to a clear area, she started training sane the way she used to train when she was with the creed, different balancing techniques, like balancing on rocks, until they reached the stage to go higher, walking across logs across small trenches, balancing on one leg while holding onto things in their hands

Facial expression actually changed, when growing up with the creed, a lot of them didn't exactly pass this one, she only exalt because she trained more than them, Pushed herself  a lot

" that's it Zane, Your doing it " she clapped

" wow...I'm doing it! I'm really doing it!" He exclaimed happily, when they put the stuff down, zane immediately hugged Latina catching her of guard

" thank you Latina! Thank you!" He cried, she returned the hug " no problem man" she said, a small smile snuck on to her face, they Broke the hug, and her face returned to normal " alright, that should be enough for tomorrow, let's get back before someone notices we're gone" zane nodded

When he returned, both Eren and armin were were back and awake and noticed him walk in " where have you been?" Armin questioned while he flinched

" n-no where, just training," Zane answered, climbing in bed " why are you two still awake?" He asked

" no reason" the yawned, also climbing into bed

He turned over and sighed in relief

Next day at training

" alright Cadet Carter! This is your last chance, or your cut!" Commander yelled " yes sir!" Zane walked up and had himself attached " I'm ready" he said confidently, the commander nodded then turned to Thomas " proceed" he said, zane started getting lifted off the ground, he wobbled for a moment but regained his balance " yes!" the other cadets started cheering while others looked up at him in shock " alright zane" Latina cheered with her monotone voice clapping, he was then lowed down

" congratulations cadet, but don't think just because you past means you can started slacking off! I expect you to keep training!" The commander warned

" sir!" Zane saluted, he then jogged over to Latina, she then preceded to give him a high five

" you did it zane" She said " yep! And it's all thanks to you, thanks again Latina" he cracked a smile

without realising she smiled as soon as she turns away, he gasped and pointed out " are...are you smiling" she flinched and covered her mouth " no..no I'm not"

He snickered, Wrapping an alarm around her " You look cute, should smile more often" he joked, and groaned when she elbows him

" wait! She helped him!?"

" wow...."

" he's so lucky" the both heard many cadets whispering, and ignored them, then walked up to the front where they met up with armin and the rest

" nice work zane" Reiner pat his back " it's erens turn" armin said as eren was attached to the 3GMD ( I think that's what it's called) " Eren yaeger, are you ready?" The commander asked " yes sir!" He answered, the commander then looked at Thomas " proceed" Thomas nodded and started cranking him up ' the moment of truth' Erne thought, looking towards his friends

' I won't fail again, to hell with working in the fields! I'm not giving up! Not with out a fight!' He flung his arms outs, balancing perfectly " he's doing it!" Zane cheered, other cadets started cheering ' I did it!? No! I'm doing it!!' He then started falling back, he tried to maintain his balance, but he fell back, hands pressing against the ground, the other cadets around gasped while the commander looked dissapointed, ere tried desperately to get back up, as the commander stepped forward " no! Not yet! Once more! I can do it!" He begged, the commander looked at him for a Moment then at Thomas

" lower him" thomas did so, even sat there on his knees " I-I'm finished" his voice croaked, the commander looked at Thomas again " wagner, please exchange belts with Mr yaeger" he instructed " huh- y-yes sir!" He did so and eren was lifted off the ground again, balancing perfectly, with out fail, turned out his belt was broken " your equipment was defective, if given a piece of functional gear you might not be worthless after all" the commander explained

" would have never noticed this broken clasp, might need to visit the supply depo and knock a few skulls, your lucky someone reported it to me" he said feistiness the belt with the metal piece sticking out

' what?...' he stared surprised ' who?...' he looked towards the other cadets, But once his eyes met with Latina's she turned her head away and then he realised, it was her

" he still did it..even while wearing that busted equipment..." Marco exclaimed

" amazing..." Another person said

' wow...' Latina thought

" so you mean, I didn't wash out?" Eren hoped " you made the cut, keep training cadet, thank that girl" the commander said, erens eyes widened, he then threw his hands up ' I did it! Check it out guys, I'm doing it! I can fight the Titans!' He thought with a smirk looking at his adopted sister and his friends, then Latina, who looked away once again when hers and his eyes met ' thank you Latina ' he smiled softly

" it seems like things worked out for him" Reiner says " look at his eyes, their saying check me out" armin chuckled " their not" the group looked at mikasa " his eyes are saying he doesn't have to leave me, not anymore" she finished, the boys still looked confused

A small smile made it into Latina face, proudly under her hood ' he's hothead, but has potential and guts, maybe he'll be the one to end the Titans, either way, I still need to train hard, looks like I have competition' she thought

In the evening, all the cadets zipped through the forest, performing front and back flips as the sun began to set

After the day was over, Latina started walking towards the mess hall, just then she heard

" Latina wait up!" She turned and saw Eren jogging up to her " hey, what's up?" she asked

" just wanted to say, thanks for sticking up for me and Zane yesterday, and Thank you for reporting the belt" he rubbed the back of his neck blushing, she nods

" it's no problem, besides like I said, they were being annoying and irritating" he laughed" and besides, I help my friends" she winked with a....

Small smile then started walking to the mess hall, leaving a flustered, shocked eren behind

' did...did she smile?...' he shook his head and yelled " hey! wait up!" He ran after her

" then keep up!" She called out to him, both walked to the mess hall, just before entering, Latina stopped and thought for a Moment, Touching her hood

" Latina?" Eren turned and saw her enter without her hood on, his eyes widened" what about your hood?!" He exclaimed, with a blush " nah, I'm done being called hood, and plus it gets hot in that thing, I think il leave it down from now on" she said

" if not hood, how bout...little red?" He smirked, raising an eyebrow, she playfully punched his shoulder

' besides, I'm glad your not hiding yourself anymore' he smiled at the thought, an idea then came to him " do you...want to sit with the rest of us?"

She thought about it for a moment, but then nods

"This is Armin Arlert."  She look at the man with blond hair styled in a bob and calming blue eyes.

His cheeks tint pink

Latina remembered him from introduction

  "It's nice to meet you, Armin," she says  holding out a hand for him to take.  "I-it's nice to meet you, too," he responds nervously, shaking her hand with a flustered expression before letting go. 

"And this is Mikasa Ackerman," Eren continues while point to the woman on his left, who has chin-length, black hair and black eyes, but what stands out is the red scarf wrapped around her neck. 

"Hello, Mikasa. It's a pleasure to meet you," she say, offering her hand to her to shake. 

She nods and shakes her hand firmly before letting go.

"Hey, Yeager, you going to introduce the rest of us?" They looked and saw Jean, The same guy that complimented violets hair

Eren stands up and slams his hands on the table, getting in the man's face. "Shut it, horseface, I was getting to it!" 

"Sure as hell didn't seem like it!" The two seem competitive.

Latina looked confused as Eren and jean grab each other's shirt collars.

They continue arguing with each other, making while Latina asked armin " are they always like this?" She asked

" y-yeah...." he sighs

"Eren, Jean, stop fighting," Mikasa suddenly says, making the red head look over at the two bickering men who finally release each other's shirt collars. 

Eren plops back down in his seat with a scowl and points at Jean. "Anyway, horseface's real name is Jean Kirstein."  Jean smirks and sends her a wink, which she didn't understand " yes I remember, you complimented my hair when I left the mess hall" she nods

"The one who's staring at your food is-"

" Sasha," she says surprising him " Believe it or not me and Sasha have already met. You can have it if you want," she offer, pushing her food towards her

Sasha looks in shock before grinning. "Really?! Oh, you're the best Latina thank you!" But then asked " But won't you be hungry?"  She shakes her head

"I ate a whole loaf of bread, I'm fine" she says

She noticed someone looking at her, and saw Connie, the guy commander shadow held up by the head "Sorry! Forgot to introduce myself- I'm Connie Springer." 

"Pleasure to meet you, Connie," she say which makes him grin.

" is it okay to ask you this, but why do you always keep to yourself?" He asked

She lowered her head, Frowning a little, Not knowing how to respond

"Guys, maybe we shouldn't push her," a man with short, parted, black hair and freckles on his cheeks says before smiling at her with a small blush and friendly, doe-like brown eyes.

"I'm Marco Bott. I'm sorry if we've been pushy."

"Don't worry about it, Marco, and it's nice to meet you," she tell him

Someone slides a piece of bread over to her, and she look over to see christa, offering some of her food.

Latina eyes soften at her actions, and she shyly looks down at her lap. 

"You... you must be hungry, so I felt like sharing with you," she says

"You don't have to do that for me. It's your food; I gave mine away," she tells her with a polite voice before adding"I appreciate it, though." 

"Yes, why help the girl willingly gave away her food?" Ymir bluntly asks the blonde " She did the same thing for Sasha last time" she said

" she did?" Eren asked, not directly at them, to himself, but looked at the girl, who was looking at  christa and Ymir

"Because she should still eat, Ymir," she says before looking at latina. "Please, take the bread. It would make me happy." 

Latina stare at the blonde for a few seconds before giving in " thank you christa" she says

" you know christa too?" Armin asked " christa here was the first to go up to our quiet redhead here" Ymir says, wrapping an arm around the girl, slightly squishing her face

"Hey, you didn't forget about us, did you?" a man with short blond hair and broad shoulders asks with a grin before looking at her and winking.

"I'm Reiner Braun." 

"Latina sanders, though I'm sure you've heard my name already," she say while shaking Reiner's hand.  "I have," he responds, his voice dropping  as the both lock eyes for a few seconds. 

She pulled her hand away after a moment before looking at the man and woman beside Reiner

"And who are you?" 

"I'm Bertolt Hoover," the tall brunet man quietly says, offering you a small smile.

Latina eyes drift away from him and land on the blonde woman to Reiner's right.

A stoic expression rests on her face, and her cold blue eyes meet your gaze.  "Annie Leonhart," she introduces herself monotonously.

"Well, it's nice to meet the three of you," she says before looking got a certain someone " I thought zane sat here" she says

" he does, but...he said he'd be back in a sec" Jean says

Right as he said that, someone scared the hell out him, the others, excluding mikasa's and Annie laughed, Latina stiffened, trying to hold it in, and turned out the person who scared him, was zane

" zane! What the hell?!" He yelled, grabbing the guy by the shoulders

" sorry! I just wanted to test something!" He smiles while putting his hands up in surrender  " test what?! How fast my fist will reach your face?!?" The toned hair guy exclaimed in rage

The group then stoped and stared in shock as they heard someone snort, and a small laugh, she was laughing, the ones who had a crush on her blushed

" Latina?" She stopped and stared in surprise

" you...you laughed..." zane says while chuckling " my plan worked!" He cheered

" plan? What plan?" Reiner asked

"I'm surprised you didn't notice, but she's actually smiled a bit more today, you were even there when she first smiled, but you weren't  paying attention" he said

" wait! Really?" Reiner asks, surprised

" I just came up with this as a way to help her open up more" zane grins " oh by the way Jean" he said turning to the guy " what?" He asked, looking at him suspiciously, zane backs up a little " just saying,  but if you want to stop some insults, you might wanna do something about that horse face of yours" the guys burst out into laughter while Jean growled

Zane stared running while Jean chased after him with murderous intent " that's it! I'm gonna kill you!" He yelled while running out the mess hall, the guys were howling with laughter

Latina was laughing too, the girl she used to be, was slowly, coming back, and she couldn't wait to show the others

"Thank you for letting me sit with
you, but i have to go, shadis said I have a letter I need to read."  She says

"You can sit with us again tomorrow," Armin says and she smile a little

"Thank you. I think we'll take you up on that offer." She says

" hey Latina!" She turns back " yes?" She questioned " you should smile more, it looks good on you!" Sasha waved

" yeah, you look more approachable!" Connie grins

She looks a little surprised, thinks about it, then answers " sure" she nods, with a smile, She wave to everyone before walking over to the girls room

Time skip

There she sat, on her bed, with the letter just inches away from her, she sighs and opens it

Dear Latina

I hope you're doing fine, your parents and everyone in the guild really miss you, and those two nut jobs as well, grandpa Dave really misses hugging his youngest granddaughter, he was pretty dramatic too, even your dad

She giggled, and continued reading

You better promise to visit soon, I mean when you're free, and if you're not, I'll be sure to beat it into you, smile more for goodness sake, you look more cute when you smile and adorable!

Just don't get a boyfriend or girlfriend to quick, Ever since they took you in, they're acting so protective,  Well Amelia isn't as protective, but Alan...Oh boy, just...be sure to write to me, I can't wait to see you in the scouts
