"I should've known this would happen" Eren says as he looks down, "but I had no other choice but to rely on you. Armin. Why don't you run away?".

There are loud footsteps from nearby as Eren spots a titan coming towards them through the smoke, someone strapped on its back. Eren grabs hold of Bertolt, pulling him close.

"Shit! You just try come any closer" Eren says as he holds his blade up to Bertolt's neck, "make one move to take him and he's dead".

What's that? He's got titan marks around his eyes. Is he the Beast titan?

Eren wonders as he studies the man strapped to the titan's back.

"Are you Eren Jaeger?" Zeke asks as he looks at Eren, wonder in his eyes.

If nothing else, I'm taking him with me!

Eren yells as he presses his blade into Bertolt's neck.

"You look nothing like your Father" Zeke says as he tries to take a closer look at Eren, "believe me, I know what you're going through. We're both victims of your Father, including your sister, Evelyn. You've been brainwashed by him and she has too. I might be able to fix you but Evelyn's too far gone. But either way, I'm taking Evelyn home. Bertolt. I'm sorry, but I think it's the end for you. Eren! Someday I'm coming back to rescue you and your sister".

"He ran?" Eren questions as Zeke and the titan run off.

"Reiner, what's this metal case you had in your left pocket?" Hange asks as they show Reiner the metal case they found, "before we chopped off all your limbs, you tried to grab it with the strength you had left. Suicide pills? Or perhaps a bomb?".

"A letter" Reiner says quietly.

"A letter? What kind of letter?" Hange asks as they look at Reiner.

"A letter from Ymir" Reiner says as he looks at Hange, "you have to give it to Krista".

"Only after we've inspected it" Hange says as they look down, "now then, I've got a mountain of questions for you, but your lips seem as tight as your armour is hard. Are you going to cooperate and tell us everything that we want to know?".

"No" Reiner says simply.

"Thanks. It helps that you're prepared for this" Hange says with a small smile.

"Hold on!" Jean yells as Hange forces their blade into Reiner's neck, "are you sure? We might be able to take his power".

"I don't think all of the conditions for that to happen have been met" Hange says as they look at Jean, "we don't know the situation with Evelyn and Levi and the other side. Neither do we have the time to go confirm it ourselves. Reason being, there's no way for us to gauge the full depth of their power! Even if I cut his head off, we can't be too sure!".

"This isn't like you, Hange" Jean says as he looks down, "if we back down because of not knowing something, down the line, can we ever hope to beat the titans? When are we ever going to know all there is to know about the enemy?".

"Mikasa, how much gas do you have?" Hange asks as they look back at Mikasa.

"It's almost entirely gone" Mikasa says as she looks at Hange, "but it should be enough to reach Eren and Armin at least".

"That's more than me" Hange says as they look back at Reiner, "Mikasa. I need you to go check out their situation. Fill up your gas and bring back the injection from Levi. If for any reason you're unable to do so, fire a smoke signal. That will be my signal to end Reiner".

"Affirmative" Mikasa says as she flies off.

"Hange, I-" Jean says as he looks at Hange.

"The decision was mine" Hange says as they watch Mikasa, "you were just a factor".

Why did I?... after all this time, am I actually...?

Jean asks as he looks down.

"Yeah, keep it up!" Eren yells as he kneels down with Armin, Mikasa landing on the rooftop, tears immediately falling from her eyes, "Armin's breathing again. Come on! Just keep breathing!".

"Armin?" Mikasa asks as she walks over.

"You two, where's Evelyn?" Levi asks as he crawls onto the roof, Erwin strapped to his back, "don't tell me she didn't make it back".

"Captain... Armin's... he's breathing" Eren says as Levi looks over at Armin who is laid on the ground.

"Is that... Commander Erwin?" Mikasa asks as she spots Levi laying Erwin down.

"Captain, where's the injection?" Eren asks as he looks at Levi.

"I gave it to Evelyn. I was going into the suicide charge, and just in case I didn't make it, I have it to her. But please don't tell me she's dead" Levi says as they hear the sound of ODM gear being used.

"Is everyone okay?" Evelyn asks as she lands on the roof.

"Evelyn, Armin's... he's..." Eren says as he looks at Evelyn.

"Armin" Evelyn says softly as she looks over at the boy.

"Evelyn" Levi says as he looks up at Evelyn.

Evelyn looks down as she notices Erwin laid on the rooftop.

"No" Evelyn says as she drops to her knees, picking up Erwin, laying him across her knees, "Erwin, wake up. This can't... you can't be gone".

"Evelyn, where's the injection?" Levi asks as he looks at her.

Evelyn doesn't respond as Levi spots the injection in her pocket, taking it from her.

"Quickly, Captain. Inject Armin with the syringe, turn him into a titan and eat Bertolt" Eren says as he looks at Levi.

Mikasa fires a red flare into the sky as Hange sees that. Hange runs out into the middle of the street when the titan and Zeke come running for them.

"Hange!" Jean yells as he flies into Hange, grabbing them, pulling them out of the way.

The two of them fall to the ground as the titan grabs Reiner, running off with him.

"Captain?" Eren asks as he looks at Levi who holds the injection close to his chest.

"Levi, he's still breathing" Evelyn says as she looks at Levi, "we can still save him!".

"I'm using the injection on Erwin" Levi says as he stands up.

"Use it on Armin!" Eren says as he stands up abruptly, right against Levi.

"I'm reviving the one who can save humanity" Levi says as he looks at Eren, "you guys. Do you have the faintest damn clue what you're doing?" he asks as Mikasa wields her blade from behind him, "it's Erwin, the Commander of the Scouts. And you're saying to watch him die. There's no time for this. Stay out of my way" he says as Eren grabs the box and tries to take it from Levi, "keep your emotions out of this, Eren".

"Levi, hurry" Evelyn says as she hugs Erwin close, "Erwin's going to die if not".

"Keep my emotions out?" Eren asks angrily, "tell me. How come you didn't give me the syringe straight away?".

"Because I was considering the possibility that Evelyn might be able to save Erwin" Levi says as he looks at Evelyn, "but if Evelyn could save Erwin, she wouldn't be breaking down like this. The fact that Erwin is here means I'm going to use this on him. He gave me the injection and told me to use it. So no one can use it but me".

Eren tries to take the injection from Levi but Levi punches him to the ground. Mikasa runs at Levi and pins him to the ground, trying to take the injection from him as she presses her blade against his neck.

"You should know as well as I do" Levi says as he looks at Mikasa, "without Erwin's talents, humanity can't defeat the titans".

"He's right, Mikasa. I want to save Armin too. I love him. I practically raised him but we need Erwin" Evelyn says as she looks at Mikasa, "let's stop already, yeah? I just want this to stop".

"It's no different if we lose Armin" Eren says as he sits up, "hasn't it always been like that? He's the reason why we saved Trost by plugging it with a rock. He revealed Annie's identity. It was Armin who came up with the idea of moving at night! The only reason we discovered Reiner's hiding spot and the only reason we defeated Bertolt was all because of Armin! The one who's going to save humanity isn't me or the Commander, it's Armin! Isn't that right, Mikasa?".

"Please give it to me!" Mikasa says as she glares at Levi.

"The one who's going to save humanity is Commander Erwin" Evelyn says as she looks down, "I know that's not what you want to hear and I'm sorry. I love Armin but we need Erwin. I won't be quiet, even if you tell me to. You might not know, but on the other side of that wall, there is not another single living soldier. Everyone died when the Beast titan threw boulders at us. I didn't think anyone could be saved, but the Gods gave us a miracle, Erwin. He thought the best plan for everyone was to bite back at the Beast titan and we did. Everyone was smashed to bits, just as planned. And I'm sure the last thing they felt was fear. So just let Levi save Erwin!".

Mikasa glares at Evelyn and goes to grab her when Hange grabs Mikasa and holds her back.

"Hange" Evelyn says as she holds onto Erwin.

"Hey, you've got to be kidding me" Jean says as he and Conny land, Sasha strapped to Conny's back as they both spot Erwin and Armin, both on the brink of death.

Levi takes out the injection and filled the syringe with the liquid as Mikasa starts to scream for Armin.

"Mikasa! You have to know how much we need Erwin!" Hange says as they manage to hold Mikasa back, "we can't let the flames of hope extinguish within the walls!".

"But Armin could do that too!" Mikasa says as she looks back at Hange.

"It's true. Armin is exceptional" Hange says as they look at Mikasa, "but he doesn't have Erwin's experience and leadership! There are people I want to bring back, too. Hundreds of them. I've had to say farewell since the day I joined the Scouts" Hange says as they hug Mikasa, "but, you know, don't you? No matter who it is, there comes a day to say farewell. I know it's impossible, but you have to accept this. There will be times where you can't keep your sanity. It's tough. Very tough. I know. Even so, we have to keep moving forward".

"Captain" Eren says as he grabs Levi's ankle, stopping him from going to Erwin, "do you know about the sea? No matter how far you look, it stretches past the horizon. It's a gigantic lake. Armin said there's a sea beyond the walls and he said we'd go there together. But that was our dream since we were little and I forgot it long ago. Avenging my Mum, killing the titans, the only thoughts in my head are full of hate. But he's not like that. Armin cared about more than just fighting! He had dreams!".

"Everyone get out of here" Levi says as he stands up, "I'm going to have Erwin eat Bertolt!".

"Come on, Mikasa. Let's go" Hange says as they stand up.

Evelyn kisses Erwin's head as she stands up as well.

"Shit, shit" Jean says as he flies off.

"Armin, see you" Conny says as he flies off with Sasha.

"Come on, Eren" Evelyn says as she grabs Eren and flies off with him, Hange flying off with Mikasa.

They all land on a rooftop nearby and immediately, Eren punches Evelyn.

"I hate you!" Eren yells as Mikasa and Jean hold him back.

"You don't realise it, do you, Eren?" Evelyn says as she holds her jaw, "Levi probably isn't going to save Erwin".

"What?" Eren asks as Mikasa and Jean let go of Eren.

"She's right, Eren. He's probably not going to save Erwin" Hange says as they walk over to Evelyn.

"If he were going to save Erwin, he would have done it right there and then" Evelyn says as she looks at Eren, "but he told everyone to leave so Hange and I wouldn't have to sit there and watch Erwin die, and so you guys didn't have to see your best friend be turned into a titan and then eat someone you used to be friends with. He's protecting you. You just don't know it".

Levi grabs Bertolt and drags him by his collar towards Erwin.

They're all the same. Whining brats one after another.

Levi says as he kneels down next to Erwin. He rolls up Erwin's sleeve and goes to inject him when Erwin moves his hand out of the way.

"Erwin" Levi says in shock.

"Teacher. How do we know there's not more humans outside the walls?" Erwin mumbles, his eyes open slightly.

Levi. Evelyn. Thank you.

Levi remembers Erwin say. Bertolt wakes up as he sees a titan coming towards him.

"Guys!" Bertolt yells as Armin grabs him, "help me! Annie! Reiner!".

Armin bites down on Bertolt and kills him as they all watch. The five of them fly over to Armin and pull him out of his titan as Levi brings Erwin over to Hange and Evelyn. Evelyn falls to her knees as Levi lays Erwin down. Levi hugs Evelyn as Hange wraps their arms around Levi and Evelyn. Evelyn screams for Erwin as teams stream down her face Eren, Mikasa, Jean and Conny all look over as they see Evelyn crying.

"Evelyn" Eren says as he starts to cry.
