Evelyn and Levi sit in the infirmary, waiting for Evelyn to be discharged so they can go back to the headquarters and visit the younger troops when a soldier bursts into the room.

"Captain Evelyn, Squad Leader Hange needs your assistance at the sight of the Female titan attack, immediately" the man says as he looks at Evelyn desperately.

"What is it? What's happened?" Evelyn asks as she stands up abruptly.

"It's the walls, Captain. There's something in the walls, something bad" the soldier says as Evelyn and Levi look at each other before running out of the room.

The two of them get on Kanmori and at top speed, Kanmori gets them from near the entrance to wall Sina to the other side of Wall Sina within minutes. The two of them get down from the horse as Evelyn runs over.

"Hange, what is it?" Evelyn asks as she looks at Hange.

"Evelyn, there's a titan in the wall" Hange says as they look almost pale.

"What are you talking-" Evelyn asks as she follows Hange's gaze and spots the titan looking down on them all, "about?".

"What should we do?" Hange asks as they look at her.

"I'll go up" Evelyn says as she takes the manouver gear that she spotted on the ground and she puts it on herself.

"Oi Evelyn, wait, you idiot!" Levi yells as Evelyn goes towards the titan.

Evelyn sits in front of the titan as it looks at her, not bothered by her existence. Evelyn draws one of her blades as she moves towards it. She stabs it in the face but it isn't bothered, it just stands there, taking the attack, like it's waiting for something or someone to tell it what to do. Evelyn drops her blade as she goes back down.

"It's like a sitting duck" Evelyn says as she lands, "it doesn't care that I'm there".

"We need to file a report, Captain Evelyn" someone says from nearby.

"I can do it" Hange says as they look at Evelyn, "you need to focus on recovery".

"Thanks Hange. Come on, Levi. With the state that you're in right now, it'll take us at least a day to get to the headquarters" Evelyn says as she walks off.

"I've literally hurt my leg, that's all" Levi says as he goes after her.

"There they go again" Hange says as they fold their arms, "always bickering with each other".

All of a sudden, someone comes running up to Evelyn and stops her as they grab her shoulders.

"Pastor Nick?" Evelyn asks confused as she looks at him.

"Whatever you do..." Nick says as he struggles to catch his breath, "you must keep that titan out of the sunlight".

"Levi, get a sheet and cover the titan, Hange, make sure your squad is on watch 24/7. Request for more soldiers if necessary" Evelyn says as she looks at the two of them as they both nod, "you, with me. Right now!" she says angrily as she grabs him and uses the manouver gear to get them to the top of the wall.

In the court, just after Erwin's meeting with the other soldiers, he was informed of the incident with the titan in the wall.

"Captain Evelyn took charge and she's taken Pastor Nick to the top of the walls for a talk. Captain Levi is gathered more forces and Squad Leader Hange is ensuring that the titan is kept a close eye on for the time being" the soldier reports to Erwin as he walks ahead.

"I see" Erwin says calmly.

"What are we supposed to make of this, sir?" the soldier asks as he looks at Erwin, "I never imagined there were titans in the walls".

"No one did" Erwin says as he looks ahead, "there were only people who knew, and people who didn't."

"It's time for you to talk" Evelyn says as she stands above Pastor Nick who kneels down at the edge of the wall and looks over, "what is this titan? What is it doing inside of the wall? And why did you keep this a secret from the people this entire time?".

"I have work to do!" Nick says angrily as he stands up and he dusts off his knees, "my church and followers have been devastated! This is your fault! I will demand restitution! Now, let me back down!".

"Certainly" Evelyn says calmly as she grabs him by his collar and she holds him over the edge of the wall, his legs dangling in the air, "I still have titan blood in my system which means I can hold you here for as long as I want, my arms wouldn't even ache. Now what was that about demanding restitution? How're you gonna do that without air in your lungs or a proper beating heart? I'm wondering, will straight down to wall do for you, in terms of getting down from here?".

"What the hell is she doing?" Hange asks as they look up at Evelyn.

"Dealing with people the Evelyn way" Levi says as he starts to prepare some manouver gear on his person.

"Enough of this!" Evelyn says angrily, "do you people know why we Scouts have shed so much blood? To take back our freedom from the titans! I was willing to sacrifice my own life for that cause! I'm not asking you to talk, I'm ordering you. Is that clear? And if you won't talk, I'll drop you and ask the next person. And if they don't talk, I'll do the same. I don't care about how many people I have to kill to get the answers I want. Your measly life wouldn't make up for much, anyways".

"Let go of me!" Nick demands as tears fall from his eyes, "kill me and learn. We will fulfil our duty, without fail. So, let go of me this instance!".

"If you insist" Evelyn says as she lets go of him and he starts to fall.

Evelyn stands there as she hears his screams just as Levi comes up, Nick under his arm as he lands in front of Evelyn.

"A captain is giving her orders!" Levi says as he throws Nick to the ground and grabs his neck, forcing him to look at Evelyn, "I'd follow them if I were you".

"Tell me, Pastor Nick" Evelyn says as she kneels down and she grabs his face, "are all of these three walls made of titans? Wow, I forgot how this feels. I haven't felt this way since my first time outside of the walls. Murderous intent, talk about terrifying".

--- 12 hours earlier ---

"My village isn't too far South from here, you know?" Conny says as he leans his chin on the palm of his hand.

"My hometown is close by too" Sasha says as she does the same.

"Damn. Why can't I go visit?" Conny asks as he looks out of the window, "maybe I'll sneak out at night".

"They told me not to come back until I'm normal" Sasha says as she glances over at Conny.

"They told me I was too puny to be a soldier" Conny says as he looks at her, "was genius enough to be one of them, though. I was in our class' top ten. I'm going to go make them eat their words".

"Conny, if you're serious, I'll help" Reiner says from next to Conny and Sasha as he plays chess with Bertolt.

"What? How come?" Conny asks as he looks back at him.

"Doesn't it seem strange?" Reiner asks as he looks at him, "we're on standby in our plain clothes, and we're not allowed to train or wear our uniforms. Even more suspicious is that everyone else is full armed. We're inside the wall, not on the front line. Who are we fighting?".

"Well, there are bears in the area" Conny says calmly.

"Yeah, bears" Sasha says in agreement.

"Guns are enough to handle bears" Reiner says as Sasha puts her head down on the table.

Sasha gasps as she sits up straight.

"I hear thuds. They sound like footsteps" Sasha says as she looks at Reiner.

"Get serious, Sasha" Reiner says as everyone looks at her, "if you're suggesting there are titans here, that'd mean Wall Rose has fallen".

Meanwhile, outside on top of one of the castle's turrets, Mike smells something.

"Mike?" a female member of the corps asks as she looks at him.

"Thomas. Take three couriers and go!" Mike orders as he looks into the fields, "notify each district! There are likely no titans amongst the 104th Cadet Corps recruits! Multiple titans from the South! Wall Rose has been breached!".

"It's the truth. I really hear footsteps!" Sasha argues as she stands up from the table.

"Everyone here?" the same female soldier asks as she lands on the windowsill.

"Nanaba?" Krista asks as she stands up.

"Multiple titans, 500 metres to the South" Nanaba announces as she looks at everyone, "they're coming right this way! There's no time for you gear up. Take your horses and evacuate all nearby homes and settlements! Understood?".

"From... the South?" Conny asks worriedly.

"Has the wall been breached?" Reiner asks as he looks at Bertolt.

"Get going! Lunch will have to be put on hold I'm afraid!" Nanaba says as she takes off and lands on a roof nearby where Mike watches the titans, "Mike!".

"There are nine in that swarm up ahead" Mike says as Nanaba comes over.

"They've broken through Wall Rose" Nanaba says as she watches them come closer, "we never managed to uncover the titans' secret or figure out what they are. And now the day has come. Humanity has lost".

"No. Not yet" Mike says confidently, "only when a person stops fighting do they lose. As long as we continue to fight, we are not beaten!".

The two of them head down to where everyone is preparing the horses.

"As soon as the titans reach the woods, we'll split into four teams of recruits and soldiers alike, and then simultaneously scatter in each direction!" Mike says from the front of the group as they all set off on their horses, "avoid combat when possible and focus on getting the word out! Is anyone familiar with this region?".

"Me! My town's North of here!" Sasha shouts as she puts her hand up, "I know the lay of the land well! And so does Conny! Conny?".

"My village is to the South" Conny says, still shocked by the news, "exactly where the titan's are coming from. I can take you to the nearby villages. After that, please let me visit mine".

"Alright" Mike says as he looks back at Conny, "you'll guide the Southern team".

"Yes, sir" Conny says, still out of it.

"I'll come with you, Conny" Reiner says as he catches up with Conny.

"The South will be swarming with titans. It'll be the most dangerous" Conny says as he looks at Reiner.

"So? I was going to help you sneak there anyway, remember?" Reiner asks as he looks at Conny, "you coming, Bertolt?".

"Of course I'll come" Bertolt says reluctantly.

"As you may know, today marks the darkest day in humanity's history!" Nanaba says as everyone looks at her, "if ever mankind needed to give its all, it'd be right now!".

"The titan's have reached the woods!" Thomas reports as Nanaba looks at him.

"Scatter!" Mike yells as everyone does so, "ride as fast as you can!".

Everyone splits off as Mike watches the group of titans closely. All of a sudden, the titans pick up their speed, running straight at them.

"What is this? They all started sprinting" Mike says as he starts to worry.

"Whoa! They're going to catch up" Conny says as he looks over.

"Gerger! Take charge of the Southern team!" Mike yells as he goes back towards the titans.

"Sir!" everyone yells as they look back at him.

Mike reaches the titans as he gets off of his horse and he starts to take down the titans one by one.

--- flashback to before the Wall Maria was breached, Eren and Evelyn's home ---

"Oh, Eren. Did you get into another fight?" Evelyn asks as she comes up to the rooftop with some washing where Eren sits there, his cheek bruised.

"Those jerks started it! They made fun of me!" Eren says as he looks away from her.

"So, I assume Mikasa had to come to your rescue again" Evelyn says as she reaches the washing line, placing the basket of wet clothes on the ground, Mikasa running over to help her, "thanks" she says with a smile on her face as she walks to Eren and starts to wipe his face off, "Eren. No matter how cruel some is, no matter how much you hate them, you can't always charge at them head-on. You're a man, show some restraint. You need to protect Mikasa too! Well, at least that's what Mother would say. But since I know you don't know how to punch properly, let me show you, so at least you don't break your thumb" Evelyn says as she takes his fist into hers, showing him how to do it, "make a fist but don't fold your fingers over your thumb, put your thumb under your fingers like this. That way, you won't break your thumb. I have no problem with you starting fights, just make sure you finish them all".

--- present time, in the infirmary ---

Eren wakes up as he sits up and looks to his left, spotting Mikasa sat down next to him, her eyes closed, asleep. He looks down at her lap and spots the red scarf he gave her years ago. He gets out of bed and walks to the window, looking out of it, as the res scarf slips from Mikasa's grip, waking her up.

"That's-" Mikasa says as she spots Eren holding her scarf in his hands.

"It fell" Eren says as he passes it to her, "you've got to be tired. Go get some sleep".

"Sorry. I'm fine" Mikasa says as she folds the scarf up, placing it on her lap.

"That thing's seen better days" Eren says as he studies the scarf which is dirty and falling apart, "I'll get you a new one if I see any in our supplies".

"Eren! Mikasa! This is really bad!" Armin shouts as he bursts into the room, "the titans. They're inside Wall Rose!

--- in the barn of the headquarters ---

Hange prepares their horse as they pull on the reigns, leading the horse out of the barn.

"Those damn titans never give us a break" Levi says as he comes into the meeting room where Erwin and Evelyn are stood at the window, looking out at the world.

"Can you go? Evelyn's already said she's willing to, but I don't want to send her in alone" Erwin asks as he turns to look at Levi who shuts the door to the room.

"Not like there's much choice. I'm not letting her go in alone" Levi says as he walks over to the two of them.

"You should be resting" Evelyn says as she turns around, "you're leg is still injured".

"And you should be behind bars by now. But since we've detained the Priest and I won't speak, you're safe" Levi says as he looks at her.

"I've already discussed with Darius and he told me that it's okay for you to keep the Priest in your custody for now. Once you've finished with your questioning, he'll be arrested. He's let Evelyn off with a warning" Erwin says as he looks at Evelyn.

"Still can't believe you told Darius" Evelyn says as she folds her arms.

"Can't have the military wondering why there's a missing Priest" Erwin says.

--- back at Wall Rose ---

Mike continues to carve through the titans as he starts to get tired.

"Four left" Mike says as he lands on the rooftop, "no, it's time to go. I've given us enough time.

Mike whistles for his horse, looking to his left, spotting a large furry abnormal titan. The titan is huge, much taller than Eren's titan. Mike spots his horse running over as he smiles, only for the huge titan to grab it, crushing it. Mike worries as the titan throws the horse at him, knocking him off the roof. One of the smaller titans on the ground grabs Mike and bites down on his leg, making Mike shout out in pain.

"Stop!" the titan orders as it comes over.

Mike is stunned at the titan's ability to speak as the smaller titan continues to bite him, going for his waist, making him shout again.

"I told you to stop!" the titan says as it grabs the smaller titan and squeezes it, making it drop Mike, "tell me. What is that weapon called? That thing on your waist that flies around" the titan asks as Mike doesn't reply, "huh? I'm sure we spoke the same language. Perhaps you're simply too frightened. Oh. I see you use swords, too. I guess that means you know we reside in the nape. Ah, well, I'll just take it back with me" the titan says as it reaches down and takes Mike's gear, walking away.

Mike grabs his swords and goes to attack, "you can move again now" the titan says as the smaller titans around Mike start to go for him.

Mike shouts as the smaller titan grabs him.

"No, no. Stop!" Mike yells as the titans start to eat him.

"Hmm, so you can speak my language" the titan says as it looks back at Mike.
