Vast hunt in Miller Woods

Miller Town - October 7th, 1962

Six Miller Town Children—between the ages of six and thirteen—have disappeared. All night searches by large squads of police and civilians in vehicles and on foot have failed to trace the children, of which the last was staying in a lake cabin less than 24 hours ago.

Angela Donna (9) was staying in a lake cabin with her parents for a family vacation. She was last seen when playing hide and seek with two friends her age in the near surroundings of Devlin's cabins but failed to return around dinner time. The young girl was wearing a white summer dress, a red ribbon in her hair, and was bare-footed when she was last seen.

Donna's missing case follows after more disappearances happening throughout the year. "These children are considered to be some of the most at-risk and challenging recovery cases the area has seen in years." U.S. Marshall Lewis Dane said in a statement, after a new major search failed to return any of the six missing children home.

The Six of Miller Woods

This is not the first time that children have gone missing in the woods, with 'the Six of Miller Woods' (March-September, 1949) being the most famous group of children to have gone missing in recent years. One of the things that stood out in the disappearances in 1949, was the exact match in dates of disappearances as the original Miller Six, back in 1650. However, what was most memorable about the Six of Miller Woods ('49), was the conviction of suspect Rudy Lancaster in absentia with six counts of kidnapping and murder. Lancaster later took his own life before he was arrested.

Still searching

Even though many of the missing children were never found, Lewis Dane was sure to send a message to the families; "The message we try to send by continuously searching the woods and the surroundings is that we will never stop looking for these children. It is our duty to bring them home to their beloved family."
