Fifth
It had been weeks since Athena was stolen from her home. She has begun to grow in size but she still remained her curious self though the other dogs feared her for her massive size.
Buddy was Athena's only true friend. Buddy had grown too, he was about half the size of Athena's paw now.
Today, Athena was sitting in her timeout pen. She was often in trouble for playing with the other dogs too rough.
No one had wanted her as a pet though. The shopkeeper had been kind to her, sure there were mean things she did now and then but overall a good human.
Athena missed Markaira and wondered what the she-Wolf was doing at the moment.
Someone banged on her cage harshly. Athena's pelt instinctively fluffed up and she looked to see a human child. "Mommy! Look at this one! He's pretty!" The child yelled and Athena figured he was talking about Buddy so she folded her ears back.
Buddy let out a squeak as he picked at a strand of Athena's fur. "Oh there's a mouse!" The child cheered as a bigger one came over. "Now what do we have here...." The human trailed off and read the name tag that was on the outside of the pen.
"White Fang Jr the wolf dog and Lovebug the mouse." She read out loud "Are you sure about Th is one, Roby?" The mother human asked and the child nodded eagerly.
The mother human disappeared out of sight and returned with The Shopkeeper. "We want this one." The mother human asked politely "Oh, they are a favorite of mine." The Shopkeeper remarked
"How much does the dog cost?" The mother asked "Excuse me?" Shopkeeper asked "We want the dog." The mother stated with an edge to her voice
"I'm sorry but White Fang refuses to leave Lovebug behind so-" Shopkeeper was cut off by the mother and child storming off. The Shopkeeper frowned and looked at Athena "Sorry girl, but we better find you a human or it might just be bad for you...." Shopkeeper stated before walking off.
Athena felt a shiver go down her spine. She had seen other animals, the unwanted ones go into the door but they never came back out. Athena whimpered as Buddy let out a reassuring gab squeak.

It was nighttime, nothing special but something smelt off. The other dogs had smelt it too but they didn't seem to worried about it.
Athena stood up and tried to see outside her pen but she couldn't see much. Buddy was asleep in between her shoulders.
Abruptly there was a bang "Phil!" A man hissed "Sorry Kyle..." Another replied "Come on idiots! Now that Felix is gone we need a new source of payment. Find me a strong dog." A ugly-sounding man snapped
Athena yelped as she stepped back. She finally got sight of the intruders, there were 3 of them all of which were male. They looked related, both had raven black hair but each had different eye colors. One had green, one had blue, the last one were hazel.
Athena growled lowly as the green one came close to her kennel "Hey Keith, Kyle! We got ourselves a pretty Wolf-dog." He grinned as he read her breed.
"Wolf-dog?" Another piped up "Fine, get her and let's go." The ugly- sounding one commanded.
The green one started to pick her lock "White Fang Jr? Nah too original.." He smirked and chuckled. Athena barked when he opened the cage.
She snarled at him but quickly the man hit her with something, Athena yelped and leaped backwards. "Come on pretty girl. I got the club and you got the brains, figure it out." He chuckled
Athena kept on snarling but quit when he hit her again. She whimpered pitifully before walking out. She felt her heart sinking with fear as she noticed a van on the curb.
She stared at it, the fear driving her closer and closer to the edge. That was until he opened the door, that was when she lost it and started to bark and growl.
Athena thrashed her head around wildly and snarled as she reeled backwards. The green one fell to the ground "Get her!" He yelled but Athena was loose.
Dragging the chain behind her, Athena ran like the wind. She was still barking for no reason but quieted down as she focused on running.
Once the van was out of sight, Athena slowed down to a trot. She began to search for shelter and in the end found a trashcan barely her size.
Athena forced herself to fit in as Buddy squeaked with paranoia. She let out a growl of discomfort as she placed her tail over her nose. Buddy crawled down and perched in between her front paws.
Athena's ear twitched as she thought of Markaira and how she longed for one of her snow dens. But Markaira wasn't here nor was there snow... She was alone, expect for Buddy.
Athena thought about mankind, they've betrayed me and praised me.... Good or bad,
I don't know....
