Chapter 05

Arielle Nelson

After taking a fifteen-minute shower of shaving and washing my hair I was dressed in a nice loose dress that reached right above mid-thigh and a tan cardigan I was ready to do my makeup and hair.

I did my everyday make up because that's the easiest and quickest look I can do. For my hair, I applied some antifreeze spray so my curly hair won't get frizzy and I pinned a small portion of my hair on each side to the back, crossing the small bobby pins over each other. I slipped on some small socks and got my brown ankle boots that finished off to the look.

I texted my mom telling her I will be going to a small gathering and I will try to be back before 11 if not 12. the latest. I pulled out my phone and opened Heather's text and copied and pasted the address to my phone GPS and with that, I was on my way.

I parked my car near the back of a nearby parking lot leaving me to work all the way over to the actual party that was already packed with cars crowding the street.

"Hey, Arielle," a group of guys chorused together, I gave my million dollar smile and waved to them and made my way inside where the party is being held at. The music wasn't blasting loud enough for anyone to complain but wasn't low enough that no one can dance to. As I walked through the house towards the kitchen I paid attention to everyone I passed by.

They were probably dragged out here by their friends saying it will be fun. As I made my way into the kitchen with stainless steel appliances and white cabinets and white countertops with many different types of drinks on top of it. I grabbed a red solo cup and filled it up with water.

I walked around and kept my eye open and looked for Heather or David through the big open space that was available. I squeezed through the crowd and opened the back door to the patio and walked to the backyard had a playground and I sat down on one of the swings and slowly moved back and forth reminding me when I met him last summer.

June 15th summer in Miami-Florida

"Arielle lets go! The party is already getting started we can't miss out from meeting these Miami boys." Heather shouted from her room across the hall as she got ready.

"I'm almost done I just have to get in my bathing suit and we can leave," I yelled back to her and grabbed my light sky blue swimsuit and quickly changed. I let my loose curly hair down that just passed my shoulders since I had trimmed it a week before leaving. I grabbed my beach bag that held everything from my camera to my beach towel.

"I'm ready Heather, I'll just text David telling him we are coming," I said walking to her room where she had a bright red bikini that against her nice light skin.

"let's go! David is already downstairs waiting for us I was texting him when you were getting ready," She spoke and standing up. I didn't mind her texting David but the way she told me they were texting didn't sound all innocent and that what put me on edge.

But neither of them knew I liked him, so there was nothing I can really do than just sit back or make my move. When we arrived at the beach I smiled at the sight. There was a girl volleyball game in one end and a boy volleyball game in the other end. Others were in the ocean water and some were sitting down having a drink on the private beach. We laid out personal items down on the white pull-down chairs quickly applied sunscreen on my arms but when I came across going to my back I couldn't reach and I ended up asking David which he quickly replied a "yes" and helped me.

The way his arms massaged the sunscreen lotion to my skin made me feel warm inside.

"David, can you do me next?" Heather asked looking at him smiling shyly.

That was when I knew she had a thing for David

"Sure I'll be right there Heather," David said smiling widely at her and when he finished with me he went right up to her and laid her down on an unoccupied chair and massaged the lotion to her skin while speaking to her quietly.

And that was the day I knew he had a thing for her as well

And that was the day I knew I didn't have a chance with him but that didn't stop me from liking him

The party went on and I sat with many different groups of people and quickly became friends with them. I was done swimming and decided to get my cover-up as I reached the chair that had my bag on I looked to my left to see Heather and David lip-locking near the palm trees, hiding from everyone.

Her arms were wrapped around his neck loosely and his wrapped around her waist pulling her closer to him while he was leaning on the tree.

I can feel my heart shattering as I looked at them. I held back my tears. I got my cover-up and quickly threw it on and left and took a seat where I was before and grabbed a bottle that was mixed had some alcohol and some cranberry juice mixed together and took long swings of it until I reached the end and grabbed another one without people noticing.

That was mistake number one I made that night

"Hey, why aren't you inside enjoying the party?" Michael asked standing next to the swing set I was on. He had dark brown hair almost black and very light brown eyes and beautiful tan skin, that I was so jealous of.

"Just enjoying some quiet time before I head back inside," I replied gaining back memory of the party and trying to forget that summer.

"Well, they are about to start a game of spin the bottle truth or dare edition, don't miss out," He spoke offering me a friendly smile and left back into the house with a little prep in his step.

He must be excited

"Spin the bottle truth or dare," I said quietly to myself as I got up and slowly made my way back inside where people were dancing and the others were circled around the living room floor where the furniture had been moved to make space for the game. Molly, a sweet smart girl with dirty blonde hair and freckled skin, took the last swing of her alcoholic beverage and placed the now empty bottle on the floor and twisted it making it spin in circles.

Molly giggled as the top of the bottle past through everyone and took a slow steady stop landing on James. "Truth or dare Molly?" James asked smiling lazily with his red- pinkish eyes. He is definitely high.

"Dare," Molly said daringly.

"I dare you to go run around the neighborhood screaming I'm ready" he continued saying

"Okay," she said getting up.

"Naked," James said smiling mischievously.

"Are you sure? Is that even allowed to run around naked in public?" Molly asked tilting her head to the side.

"I don't know I run around naked everywhere," James continued.

She is so going to regret this big time especially when the whole school sees this.

"Oh what the heck I'll do it," Molly said getting up and making her way to the door stripping her clothes off. I see the others getting their cameras ready to record her I try to make my way to the door slowly so the others behind me will be behind and not record her.

"Hurry up!" Some yelled from the back impatiently. "I'm not feeling so good right now," I said acting and turning around with droopy eyes and then widening them pretending I was going to vomit. And that's when it registered I them I was going to "throw up" on them. They all went running back to where we were before missing the action that was about to take place. That's eight people who did not get the chance to record this little event. Just have to get James phone before he posts the video up on social media before everyone sees it and downloads it.

A few minutes later I make my way back to the door and James and Molly both come in and she starts putting her clothes on right away.

"Hey, James can I borrow your phone my phone died," I asked lying to him.

"Yeah sure," he said unlocking his phone with his passcode and handed it back over to me.

"It's only going to take a minute," I said walking to the door.

"Okay, I'll be back in the circle," he said behind me, I nodded my head at him.

I rushed outside and went on his picture album on his iPhone and clicked videos where I saw they recently added video and clicked on it and deleted it quickly. I then went to his recently deleted album and removed it from there as well.

Stupid update if I deleted it once why do I have to delete it again

I quickly closed the photo app completely and went on the call app and dialed my number which I knew he didn't have since we weren't that close. I let it ring for a couple of seconds while my phone was on silent and ended the call. I walked back inside to the circle and handed James back his phone saying thank you. He raised his solo cup up and smiled at me.

I then decided to leave the party, seeing how Heather and David stood me up there was no point in staying. Once I made my way back home I felt happy. I did two big things today I took my first step on eating and I helped out someone who would've regretted her actions tonight.

Once I was falling asleep on my bed with the thought of tomorrow, I knew I had something to do.
