"It doesn't matter how hard I try, I still can't forget her. She's in the rain, the wind, the stars; she's everywhere and I can't just let her go."

It has been 4 years.

4 years since everyone in your little town assumed you were dead.

Everyone stopped looking for you after a year of searching, and although your parents begged people to keep searching for their precious child; not a single person even bothered.

Like sand in an hourglass, time seemed to slip away and before anyone knew it, an entire 4 years had gone by since you went missing.

Mingi was your childhood best friend. The two of you were practically inseparable your entire lives but one night after that party you simply slipped out of his grasp.

It was your senior year of high school, everyone was celebrating. Everyone was so excited to see what their futures would hold. Would they be actors? Actresses? Artists? And dancers? The world was really so new, and to a kid in high school, you would really be looking at the world through rose-colored glasses.

As the two of you made your way to the front door, you couldn't help but feel that buzz of excitement, the same feeling that would come when you were experiencing something new for the very first time. When the front door opened, you were greeted by the sounds of laughter and loud music. Wooyoung was at the door, laughing as if he had just walked away from a hilarious conversation.

With a quiet "thanks", the two of you were able to slip into the house pretty much unnoticed. You were never popular, and you tended to blend in with everyone anyways, so to even be invited to such a nice party was the surprise of your lifetime.

"Would you like anything to drink?" Mingi asked, his brown eyes scanning the crowd of exhilarated teenagers. "Soju maybe?"

"I'll just have some water, I'm not a fan of soju".

You never liked soju or any alcohol for that matter. You had tried it a few times before at home and stuff, but you never liked the environment that went along with drinking. And you couldn't help but be reminded of the sickening smell of soju whenever your dad would come home angry and disgustingly drunk.

Mingi nodded in response, almost perfectly in tune with the music blaring above you.

"I'll have water too".

Mingi's response made you smile. He always tried so hard to make you feel at home, even when your anxiety was getting the best of you.

Eventually, Mingi took your hand and led you through the crowd. Your heart was beating fast at that point, you didn't really know whether it was from anxiety or just excitement, to be honest, it could have been both.

Something told you that the air in the room didn't feel right that night, but you tried with all your power to ignore it. You wanted to enjoy yourself, at least just this once without your anxiety getting the best of you.

"Hey Y/n, I'm gonna go say hi to Yunho and Yeosang. I'll be right back, okay?"

Before you even had the chance to answer, Mingi was lost in the sea of people. His energy was drowned out by the bumbling electric energy of the crowd.

'Some friend', you thought to yourself.

You scanned the crowd, looking for at least a familiar face. You saw a few people you knew, but you didn't know them well enough to walk over and start a conversation with them.

"What are you doing all by yourself?"

The voice made you jump, but when you turned around, it was only Junghoon. You had known him for years, and no one would ever forget talking to him. He was not much shorter than Mingi, with jet black hair and hazel eyes, he was really everything a girl could ask for. His eyes crinkled when he laughed, and while he was busy laughing, you were busy trying to calm yourself down from having a stroke.

"oh hi Junghoon", You coughed. "Wasn't expecting to see you here".

"Oh, Its my buddies house so I thought I would grace the occasion with my presence". Junghoon made a "sparkling" circle around himself before he took a bow, letting his dark hair fall into his eyes.

You couldn't help but laugh.

"Fair enough." You looked around, still secretly looking for where Mingi ran off to. "Are you enjoying the party so far?"

Junghoon shrugged, his hands tucked into his pockets.

"Parties really aren't my thing."

"Yeah, this is probably my first to be honest".

You felt awkward, so exposed. In a way, everyone seemed to be more experianced than you were, even Mingi.

Junghoon must have noticed your sudden uneasiness becuase he was quick to suggest that you take a walk outside and get some fresh air. It sounded like music to your ears, so you decided to follow him through the sliding glass door in the back of the house.

Once outside, you had to admit that the fresh air and fading music really seemed to calm your nerves. And without even thinking, you started following Junghoon further and further into the dark woods behind the house. Suddenly he stopped, turning around and just smiling at you.

You felt shy, you really wanted to hide your face. But all you could do was look down at the ground.

The music from the house had completlely faded away, the only sound you could hear was the pounding of your heart, which felt as if it was in your ears.

Junghoon was inches from you now, his sweet smiling ever so warming.

You were so far away from the house, no one would hear you.

Not a single soul could hear you scream.

It took you a second to realize what was going on, the way he grabbed you wasn't quite right.

The scream echoed through the trees bouncing off each branch and lowering itself to the ground, you couldn't get away, no matter how hard you tried, prying and tearing yourself away from him, he held onto you tightly.

The darkness was engulfing you, sucking you up into nothing.

It was all a deep, dark blackhole of nothingness.

"I can't just stop looking for her, I would be betraying her". Mingi cried.

The officer gave him the same look he had been giving him for years, "Listen, she's gone now. You can't betray someone whos not there. You need to just let it go and heal from this, you'll never move on if you keep living with this idea that Y/n is still alive".

Mingi scowled at the officer.

He wanted to punch him for even saying those words, although he had heard them before a million times, he still hated hearing them. To Mingi, it was disgusting how quickly people would move on as if these people meant absolutely nothing to them.

"I'll just go then."

Mingi left, slamming the door on his way out.

Once outside, the cool breeze brushed across Mingi's skin. You were here, he could feel it. He couldn't deny that every time the air brushed against him, he could hear you in it. Sometimes it was a whisper, other times it was a laugh, he missed it all so much.

Mingi blamed himself for everything, a part of him didn't want to live knowing he left his best friend alone then she went missing. He knew no one would ever see her again and her laughs as they laid across her bed, reminscing memories of when they were little.

The memories killed Mingi, and once he was far enough away, he began to let his guilt consume him. He cried, letting the tears burn his face. He couldn't let go of you, not now. You were meant to do so much, you were meant to be with him forever. He just wanted to hold you and tell you everything was going to be okay, to hear your voice just one last time.

Oddly enough, it seemed as Mingi wasn't even controlling his own body. He started on the trail through the forest, looking around at everything. He would turn around quickly, thinking he saw you in the trees or walking past him, but when he turned to look, there was nothing there but the wind brushing against the trees.

Finally, Mingi stopped in his tracks. Something told him not to go any further, something told him to stop and just listen.

So he did.

It was loud, a booming sound of someone; something beating hard against something. Mingi got closer to the noise, then suddenly beneath his feet, he felt it. The thump of something right beneath him. Desperate, Mingi bent down, shoveling dirt and grass out of the way with his hands.

Under the ground was some wood, and upon further digging, Mingi was shown a door and as he dug, he could hear the never ending sound of somebody fighting for their life to get free.
