song mingi | my demon | pt. 3.

-part three of the demon mingi imagines. if you haven't read the first two parts, you might want to go do that first!

-

"You're so annoying!"

"I'm annoying? Try falling asleep when you live with someone who snores like a grizzly bear!" Mingi yelled back. "I never sleep!"

"Do you even need sleep? You're a demon!"

"Do you even need sleep?" He mocked. "It's kind of nice, yeah."

You looked at him for a moment, then slapped his arm. "I don't snore."

"Oh, yeah. And I'm actually a fallen angel. Come on, Y/N."

You rolled your eyes and went into the kitchen, grabbing a water bottle. When you closed the fridge, Mingi was right in front of you, making you groan loudly.

"If you're that bothered by it, you don't have to sleep in my room with me."

He gasped dramatically. "Are you kicking me out?"

"It sounds like you're trying to get kicked out." You said. "But I have to go to school, so we'll talk about this later."

You walked away from him and grabbed your backpack, then he watched you leave the apartment. The sleeping arrangement and the snoring had been an ongoing topic in the house, and you always seemed to walk away from him before getting anywhere useful. It's like there was something you weren't telling him.

You got home late that night and you found Mingi asleep on the couch. You had been keeping him up at night for a month now, and you did feel bad, but it wasn't something you could control.

You slipped passed him and into your bedroom before he could have the chance to wake up. You went to your bathroom and opened the top drawer, finding your prescribed Trazodone. You took one of the small pills and sighed, but when you turned around, you jumped when you saw Mingi in the doorway.

"What did you just take?" He asked.

"An ibuprofen." You lied.

"Don't lie to me."

You swallowed hard, flashing back to the night he caught you sneaking back into the apartment. He was starting to walk closer to you, but you were backing up as your breathing became erratic. He was finally in the bathroom with you, and he reached for the top drawer. He opened it and grabbed the pill bottle you just had in your hand.

"Trazodone?"

"Yeah, I've been having trouble," you stuttered. "Um, I've been having trouble sleeping."

You took another step away from him, but he grabbed your arm and pulled you out of the bathroom. "What is going on, Y/N?"

"It's nothing, Mingi." You said as you sat on your bed, farthest away from him. "Go back to bed."

"No. I don't like when you don't tell me stuff. Did a doctor prescribe Trazodone to you?" He asked.

"I don't want to talk about it-"

He tilted his head and the lights flickered, he was getting frustrated. This only made that nights events more prominent in your mind, and your eyes glossed over, but he couldn't see that.

"Just tell me, Y/N."

"I'm having nightmares about you!"

The lights stopped flickering and he flinched, as if your words physically hit him. "About me?"

"Yes." You sighed. "I started having them after that night at the club, when you grabbed me after I got home. I couldn't sleep at night, so I'd fall asleep at school and I'd have the nightmares in class. I went to the doctor and she gave me my prescription."

"You didn't think it was important to let me know that I was scaring you?"

"I thought I was fine afterwards, but then I wasn't. I didn't tell you because I knew it would hurt your feelings." You told him.

"Yeah, it hurts my feelings. My human is scared of me, that's the worst thing demons like me can experience." He admitted. "I just wish you would have told me so I could've done something about it."

He looked at you for a moment, at how you were hugging yourself and how you had your knees tucked into your chest. He shook his head and stood up.

"Now I feel bad for complaining about your snoring. Maybe if I knew that you weren't getting any sleep, I wouldn't have said anything." He pushed his hair back. "You shouldn't have to take medicine because of me."

He started walking away, and you got off your bed. "Where are you going?"

"I'm not staying here, I scare you."

Then he left in a cloud of black dust, and you suddenly felt so weak. Like the foundation of your life was gone and you were falling through the cracks.

You were very groggy the next morning, unsure of what to do with yourself now that your best friend was nowhere to be found. You felt like he was still close, but it was driving you absolutely crazy knowing that you couldn't find him.

When you got to school, Hyekyo saw how pale you were and rushed to your side. "Did you have another nightmare? You look sick."

"No, I'm okay. I think." You mumbled.

She furrowed her eyebrows and turned you to face her. "You think?"

"Its hard to explain, but I'll probably be okay."

"Probably- Y/N. What is up with you?" She questioned. "You're definitely not okay."

"You're not going to believe me, but I'll tell you." You sighed. "I have another best friend that's a demon."

She nodded slowly. "Wow, you really need more sleep."

"See? I said you wouldn't believe me."

She shrugged. "Can you blame me? It's like you have an imaginary friend or something."

"It's fine, Hyekyo. I don't expect you to understand something that you can't even see."

You looked to your right, down the hallway, as you said this, and your lips parted slightly. There Mingi stood, engulfed in black flames and dust, his eyes dark and fierce.

"Y/N?"

You flinched and looked at Hyekyo. "I'm going to the library."

"Off campus?" She asked as you had turned in the opposite direction of the school library. "Oh, okay then."

Mingi followed you out, in all his scary glory, all the way down to the library. You went in and asked the librarian for books about demons who are attached to humans. She showed you where the very small section was, and all you could hope for was an answer to why Mingi suddenly became so dark.

You could see him out of your peripheral as you looked through the page of contents, and you found the chapter you needed- Detachment.

You sighed and put the book in your bag, knowing that you wouldn't have enough time to read it before he got to you. You quickly snuck passed him and ran down the sidewalk. For some reason, Mingi was in no rush, so you had enough time to run back to your apartment and find what you needed.

So, when you got inside of your apartment, you locked the door and threw yourself down on the couch. You opened the book and quickly read through the short chapter. Your front door busted open and you jumped up from the couch, knowing exactly what you needed to do.

When Mingi came around the corner of the kitchen and made eye contact with you, you didn't step back, you didn't look away, you were focused on him and only him. Soon, he was right in front of you, looking down at with those dark eyes as his flames engulfed you, too.

You took a deep breath and wrapped your arms around him, despite the burning sensation all over your body. Every part of you that was touching him was being burnt, a risk you were willing to take to get Mingi back.

He tried to push you away from him, but your grip was much stronger than he thought it would be. As your grip tightened, the black flames, the black dust, and the burning went away, but your Mingi was back.

As he came back from whatever state he was just in, you collapsed to the floor, your energy drained. He bent down and picked you up, checking for a pulse, which was there. He wasn't sure what to do- he had never detached from a human before it was time to do so, and he had no idea how to help you.

The dark burns on your skin made his stomach turn, he couldn't believe that you would risk your life for him, after scaring you so badly. He picked you up and cradled you gently in his arms, hoping for a miracle to happen.

He had heard stories of demons detaching from their humans, and their humans trying to save them. Usually their humans never made it.

"Come on, Y/N." Mingi whispered. "I know you can pull through this. You've been dealing with me for too long and you don't deserve this. Not after what I did to you, I shouldn't have been saved."

You found the strength to move your arm, and you hit Mingi in the chest with all the strength you could muster, which wasn't much. "Don't go soft on me, Mingi."

He sighed out of relief and put his hand over yours. "I thought you were gone."

"I heard." You laughed softly. "And I'm not-"

You inhaled sharply, finding it hard to keep your breathing stable. "Save your strength, Y/N."

"No, I need to say this." You whispered. "I'm not scared of you. I was scared of the dangerous side of you, the one that I've never really seen before. That's not you, and I know that." You took another deep breath. "You're the sweet, caring demon that I love and couldn't imagine spending life without."

"So, you're not scared of me?"

You shook your head. "I kept having nightmares of the true demon side of you. That doesn't mean that I don't love every part of you though, okay? That just means that I have a few sides of you that I need to get used to, and that's okay. That's how friendship works."

He smiled and bent down, kissing your forehead. "You know I love you, right? And I'm going to see what I can do about these burns, but I'm going to have to look at how bad they are."

You nodded and he gently placed you on the carpet. He lifted your shirt up a bit to see how far the burns went. They covered your arms, your whole torso, chest, neck, and the left side of your face, yet you still looked ethereal, as always.

"Do they hurt?"

"A little bit." You winced. "A lot, actually."

"Okay, I'm going to make a quick visit to someone, and I'll be right back, I promise."

You looked up at him and held your pinky out, so he bent down and wrapped his pinky around yours. He left in a cloud of black dust, and about seven minutes later- which felt like seven years- he was back with a small bottle of something.

"Drink this. It should heal the burns in just a few minutes." He said.

He got behind you so that you could rest against his chest as you drank the strange concoction, which was tasteless, luckily for you. He cracked jokes to pass the time as your burns healed, and several minutes later, Mingi told you that they were gone.

"I'm still tired." You said. "I feel like I have no energy. I'm not even sure I'll be able to stand up."

"Yeah. That's because when you hugged me, you were pulling all of the bad energy out of me and into you. It'll take a couple of days for you to fully recover from that." He told you.

You looked at him and smiled. "Carry me to my bed?"

He laughed and nodded, picking you up as if you were a porcelain doll. He got to your bedroom and gently laid you down, but when he started to walk away, you caught his shirt.

"Lay with me." You said as you let your arm fall. "I want to make sure you won't leave again."

He narrowed his eyes playfully and laid beside you. You put your head on his chest and listened to his heartbeat, and his arm found its way on top of your head.

"Do I look like an arm rest, demon boy?" You mumbled.

He laughed. "A little bit, yeah."

You humphed and pushed his arm off of your head, but of course, he was persistent. You were glad to have him back, even though he was barely gone for a day, but still. You had your best friend back, in all his demon glory.

"I won't leave again." Mingi whispered. "I thought I would be helping if I left, but I just ended up hurting you more, literally."

You listened to his heart for a second more. "I would go to the depths of hell for you, Mingi. You know that."

He nodded and pushed the hair away from your face. "Yeah, I know. I just wish you were more careful with me."

You looked up at him and furrowed your eyebrows. "Careful? Nothing about our friendship is careful."

"That is true." He laughed. "But still."

You looked away from him and wrapped your arm around his waist, tapping his side. "Too bad. I'll still be a bully, there's nothing you can do about it."

"I wouldn't have it any other way, Y/N."
