song mingi | jersey just for you.

___
brought back a little second person action for you.
+ a couple mentions of blood.
___

"You smell like the jockiest jock on the planet, Minjae."

You rolled your eyes at your brother and smacked his arm. "You be the soccer captain then, Yunho."

He held his hands up. "No thanks."

The two of you walked into the house and you ran up to your bedroom, hopping in the shower. Being the soccer captain of a bunch of girls who played rough was not easy and scrimmages against each other were the worst. Your team was undefeated and you all played hard to keep it that way.

After your shower, you towel dried your hair as you ran downstairs to the kitchen. Yunho was there, but so were his friends.

"Surprise." He smiled.

You threw your towel at him and grabbed a bottle of water. "You act like they're not over here every day."

"How was soccer practice today, Minjae?"

"It was good," you replied to San. "Rough, but good."

Mingi pulled out a chair and sat next to you. "When's your next game?"

"Friday at six."

"I don't know if I can make this one," he frowned. "Will you be mad if I can't come?"

Mad? No. Upset? A little bit. "Why would I be mad? You have a life as well."

"I've just never missed one of your games."

You gave him a small smile and sighed a bit dramatically. "Now that I think about it, I'll probably be devastated. I won't even make any goals without you there."

You glanced over at him to see him smiling, but Wooyoung interrupted the small moments. "Minjae, you're the coolest person I know but please find better ways to flirt."

You glared at him. "Who said I was flirting?"

All seven boys in front of you cocked an eyebrow as if you had said something stupid. They started filing out of the kitchen, but Yunho still managed to embarrass you.

"You were definitely flirting," he mumbled. "I thought I taught you better."

"I thought I taught you better," you mocked. "Go play video games or something."

He laughed and finally walked out of the kitchen, so you turned to Mingi. "You really can't make it?"

"Probably not. I'm sorry, Minjae."

"It's okay," you sighed. "But I have something for you if you somehow can make it."

You got up and Mingi followed you upstairs to your room. He stood in the doorway, not wanting to invade your space or give Yunho a heart attack. He watched you dig around in your closet for a second, then you finally pulled out what looked to be your extra soccer jersey.

"Here," you handed him the jersey. "If you can make it."

He smiled and pulled you into a hug. "Thank you."

"You're welcome," you smiled. "Now go downstairs before they think we're kissing or something."

"You don't wanna kiss?"

"Do I look like I wanna kiss?"

He shrugged. "A little bit. You have this little glint in your eye-"

"Okay, Mingi. Have fun fantasizing about kissing me or whatever goes on in that head of yours."

He smiled and pushed off of the doorframe, giving you one last glance before he headed down the hallway. Sure, you wouldn't mind a little kiss but would you let him know that? Absolutely not.

The boys were watching your morning practice, like they did on most days. They enjoyed seeing you in your element, seeing you happy. Not to mention, you were captain because you were an elite athlete, and it was simply entertaining to watch you on the field.

"What are you guys doing here?" Yasuko, the cheer captain asked as she sat next to them.

"We watch their soccer practice every morning." Hongjoong replied.

"Why? It's just a bunch of sweaty girls kicking a ball around. Especially Minjae - I don't even know how she's the captain."

"You clearly don't know how soccer works then," Jongho mumbled. "She's captain for the same reason you're captain."

Yasuko looked appalled. "I'm captain because I'm better than everyone else. Minjae is not."

The boys snickered and Yeosang pointed out to the field. "Can you do what Minjae does?"

"No, but that doesn't mean-"

"That she's better than you at something? Yes it does," Seonghwa said. "But that's okay, Yasuko. There's a reason the two of you are captains for different teams."

Yasuko rolled her eyes and looked back at the field. You were looking over at them, a mean look on your face. You were wondering why the cheer captain was in their bubble, but really you were annoyed that Yasuko was over there in the first place.

"Quit staring, freak!" Yasuko yelled.

You rolled your eyes as the ball was passed back to you. You dribbled it a couple times and kicked it, making a goal that no one could have blocked.

"Go hang out with your boy toys, Yasuko!" You yelled. "They want you around more than they do!"

She flipped you off and stormed away, making you smile to yourself. Practice was over and everyone headed to the locker room to clean up.

"I really want to kick a soccer ball right into her smug little face." Yuka, your best friend said.

"You'd get kicked off if you did that," you told her. "But I would pay to see it."

"Maybe she'll fall out of one of their stunts at the game tomorrow night." Another teammate said.

You shook your head. "That's a little extreme. She'd get hurt if that happened."

"And you care after she's bullied you for so long?" Yuka questioned as you all walked into the locker room.

"You see bullying, I see insecurities. That's her problem, not mine," you shrugged. "Besides, it's fun to mess with her, but wishing she would get hurt is a bit much."

"You don't remember that time she pushed you onto the highway? Into oncoming traffic?"

"I remember, Yuka."

She threw her hands up. "I don't understand you, Minjae, really."

"Good practice guys," you praised your team. "No practice in the morning. Make sure you're prepared for tomorrow. You know the drill."

You ran off to the locker room and grabbed your bag, then headed to your car. You were ready to go home and shower, but Yasuko was standing by your car.

"Give me a ride home."

"No."

"Please," she rolled her eyes. "My mom took my car."

"That's not my problem. Walk home."

"It's so far." She whined.

"Yasuko, you live at the end of the street. I'm not driving you home." You bit.

"I don't feel like walking."

"That's too bad," you fake pouted. "I don't trust you in my car."

Foolishly, you unlocked your car and she took the moment to hop in the passenger seat. You mumbled something about her being annoying under your breath and got in. You drove her down the street, literally a minute away, and put your car in park.

"Thank you, Minjae dearest-"

"Get out."

She pursed her lips and got out of your car, but didn't plan on leaving yet. "Just so you know, I'm telling Mingi that I like him tomorrow night after the game, so don't get in my way."

"Go for it, Yasuko."

She smirked and slammed your car door shut, so you honked and made her jump. Little did she know that he wouldn't be there, and the thought of his absence in the bleachers made you upset.

"Is she nervous?" Hongjoong asked.

"She probably feels a lot of pressure to win," Wooyoung added. "Being the captain and all."

"I don't think she's nervous, just pressured." Yunho replied.

Down on the field, you were warming up with your team and glancing up at the bleachers to see if Mingi really wouldn't be there, and he wasn't. As weird as it was for him to not be there, you couldn't lose focus.

"Here they come."

At your words, the girls stood in a line on either side of you as the opposing team approached. You and the other captain stepped forward and shook hands.

"Good luck." You said.

"How cute," she smirked. "We don't need luck, but you will."

You gave her a curt smile rather than saying anything that would get you in trouble, and you rolled your eyes as you turned back to your team.

"They're playing Busan High," Seonghwa mumbled. "They play rough."

Yunho nodded in agreement. "So do we."

Everyone got into position and the ref blew the whistle. The game was on, and Busan did in fact play rough. By the second quarter, they already fouled twice.

Near the end of the second quarter, you had been tripped and had avoided cleats more times than you could count with your fingers. It's not that Busan played rough, they played unfairly.

The buzzer for half time went off and you and the girls huddled up. "We're in the lead right now, but that doesn't mean they won't catch up. They're playing dirty so you have to protect yourself, first and foremost. Go stretch, have some water, prepare for the second half."

The team broke out and you headed over to the bleachers, where the guys were now standing against the railing.

"You okay?" Yeosang asked.

"Yeah, they're trying to foul without the refs seeing it, but they're not doing a very good job," you took a drink of the water that Yunho handed you. "Is Mingi really not coming?"

Jongho shook his head. "I'm sorry, Minjae. He just got busy."

"It's okay. I can't be mad-"

"Jeong Minjae!"

Yasuko pulled on your arm and pointed at you. "You knew Mingi wasn't coming tonight."

"Yeah, and?"

"And you could've told me. I looked like a complete idiot in front of you."

You smiled and moved her finger away from your face. "Sorry?"

"You're so selfish, Minjae," she shook her head. "I mean, really? You've always taken everything I wanted-"

"I've always taken everything you wanted? You almost took my life freshmen year!"

"I wish that car hit you, Minjae." She snapped.

Your hands fell to your sides, and despite how livid you were, you'd be the bigger person. "You're gonna say something like that over a boy?"

"I just did. Are you gonna cry about it?"

"I don't cry," you started walking away from her. "But I'll remember that, Yasuko."

There were only a couple minutes left of halftime, and your coach ran over to you. "Lena is taking a break so I'll need you to take over as goalie for the third quarter."

"Yes ma'am."

You ran over to where Lena was on the bench and grabbed your gloves out of your duffel bag. "You okay, Lena?"

"I think I sprained my ankle."

"From that goal you tried to block just at the end of the second quarter? It looked like you hurt yourself."

She nodded. "I landed on my foot wrong. Hopefully it's not sprained and it's just flaring up. I want to help in the fourth quarter."

"If you can't, that's fine," you gave her a pat on the back. "Your team has your back."

She smiled and the ref blew the whistle. The boys watched you walk across the field as you put your gloves on.

"She's a goalie this quarter." Yeosang pointed out.

"I love when Minjae's goalie!" San exclaimed. "She's so good at it."

The ref blew the whistle again and the game was back on. You started out being a goalie in middle school, so you were pretty good. Besides being captain, being goalie was one of your favorite positions. Especially with Busan, since they were so smug.

By the end of the third quarter, the opposing team only made one goal, then you and another teammate switched off so that you were back on offense. The fourth quarter was always the most stressful, because a lot of the opposing teams you played against caught up quickly. You were also afraid that Busan would get a lot of fouls in this quarter.

Up in the bleachers, Mingi snuck in with the guys. "Took you long enough."

"Well? I wanted to make sure she thought I wasn't coming." Mingi replied.

"Are you wearing her jersey?" Yunho asked.

"Yeah."

Wooyoung's jaw dropped. "How cute."

"You missed Minjae being a goalie."

"Dang." Mingi pouted.

Although you didn't see him, Yasuko did. She was ready to have Mingi all to herself and she would make sure he saw no one but her. The cheer team did their stunts, Yasuko being front and center. She looked directly at Mingi, but he looked past her and at Minjae. That didn't discourage her from her plans to confess.

With one minute left on the clock, Busan had collected four fouls in the last quarter and they were one point behind. Running towards the goal with thirty seconds on the clock, Yuka passed the ball to you and you dribbled it towards the goal. One thing you loved doing in the last quarter was breaking ankles, which is just what you did.

Trying to get the ball from you was Busan's captain. You dribbled the ball in between her legs and went around her, kicking the ball with only eight seconds left on the clock. At first, it looked like the goalie was going to block it, but it went right between her arms and into the net.

The timer sounded and the audience was louder than they ever had been before. The boys were screaming at the top of their lungs, but so was someone else.

"You think you're so big and bad, huh?!"

You were pulled out of the group hug your team had engulfed you in and was thrown onto the ground. No one in the audience could really see what was going on, but when your team started angrily yelling and pushing their rival captain back, they knew something was going on.

"Minjae!" Yuka exclaimed as she looked at your now bloody leg. "Are you okay?"

There were a few tears in your eyes, but you nodded. Busan's captain had cleated you, leaving six little wounds in your leg. Yuka helped you up and huddled you back into the team, and you couldn't help but smile.

"Don't look so worried, I'm okay," you said. "We should be celebrating, because what did we just do?!"

"We won the last game!"

Your team hugged you once more and ran off to the locker room after shaking the other teams hand, except for their coach and captain, as they were having a heated argument at the other end of the field. Once you were in the open and the crowd could see the blood dripping down your thigh, they finally understood what happened.

"She cleated her," Yunho mumbled. "Cleats shouldn't even be that sharp. What a crazy-"

"I'm gonna go down to the field."

Mingi hopped up and jumped over the railing to get to the field. Yasuko, being in hot pursuit, saw this and ran after him.

"Mingi! You shouldn't have, those flowers are-"

"Not for you." He deadpanned.

Yasuko stopped in her tracks and watched him run over to Yuka and Minjae. "Those are not for her. They should be for me!"

Seeing the flowers that Mingi was holding and noticing that he had your jersey on, the crowd got curious, whispering amongst themselves to see what would happen.

You didn't see him coming, so it was even more of a surprise when he bent down so that you wouldn't have to stand up.

"Did you really think I would miss your game?" He smiled.

"Mingi!"

You wrapped your arms around his neck, something that he wasn't quite expecting. "Why were you gone for so long?"

"Well, I was getting these flowers, and," he paused just as a bunch of confetti fell around the two of you. "I had to get everything and put it in your locker room without being noticed."

You looked around and saw that your team was holding up confetti poppers and three different jerseys. One that said "Be", another that said "My", and another that said "Girlfriend?"

"You are so insanely cheesy," you teased, pushing his chest a little bit. "This was really thoughtful."

"But?"

"No buts," you smiled. "Why would I say no to being your girlfriend?"

"That's what I thought."

The two of you stood up and he grabbed your waist, kissing you as more confetti fell around the two of you.

The audience was clapping, whistling, and you honestly forgot that he did that in front of tons of people. Your cheeks went red as he turned around.

"Hop on."

"I'll get blood on your jersey."

"Why would I let my girlfriend walk when she's wounded?"

You playfully rolled your eyes and got on his back, waving to your teammates as he started walking back to the exit of the field. Standing at the exit were seven jumping, excited boys.

"That was so cheesy but so cute!" Wooyoung yelled.

"It wasn't cute," Yasuko chimed in. "It was disgusting and gross and-"

A soccer ball hit her in the back of the head - not hard, but just enough to make her lose focus. "Can you shut up already? Jealousy isn't a cute color on you."

Yuka picked up the soccer ball she threw and smiled at you. "Happy for you, but I would run away before she remembers what she was talking about."

And that was your cue to head out. You and Mingi went to his car, and you were careful not to get blood anywhere.

"Did I embarrass you?" He asked.

"Not at all," you replied. "I was really happy, actually."

He smiled and glanced over at you, grabbing your hand. "Good. I want to make you happy for a long time."

You smiled and gave his hand a little squeeze. "My jersey looks good on you."

"Yeah?" He chuckled. "I'm glad you gave it to me. Now I can wear it whenever and flaunt it all the time."

"You're so weird."

"But in a cool way."

He made a 'cool' face and you couldn't help but laugh at him. "Oh yeah, you're definitely the coolest person I know."

He hummed and parked in the driveway of your house. He ran to your side of the car and opened the door, helping you out.

"Let's go get you all cleaned up."

He really was the coolest, sweetest person you knew.
