song mingi.

disclaimer: language, violence, self-harm.

'Why doesn't he like me? Can't he understand that we're both human beings with feelings?' You thought to yourself, thinking about Mingi.

Your brain said 'no, absolutely not', but your heart said, 'there's a reason you like him so much, you just have to find that reason'. You groaned and laid your head on your desk.

That was, until someone, you assumed Mingi, grabbed your hair and jerked your head off the table. "Hey, dweeb."

"Asshat." You mumbled.

He leaned down to look at you, and you tried not to show any reaction, even though your heart was beating wildly at how close he was to you.

"What was that, Y/N?"

You smiled sarcastically. "Ah, you know my name, how pleasant."

He gave your hair another yank before walking off to the back of the class where his seat was. You rubbed the back of your head, the soreness from him pulling your hair subsiding. "Idiot." You grumbled.

After class, you walked out, and Mingi wasted no time in catching up with you. "Homework?"

"No."

Almost instantly, his hands were on your shoulders and he pushed you into the lockers. "I don't know where you got this confidence from, but you better stop acting up, Y/N. Give me your homework."

You pushed his hands off of you, and then you put your hands on his chest, pushing him aggressively, making him stumble a bit. "And I don't know where you learned that it was okay to be so rude to someone." You snapped.

He grabbed your arm and yanked you into his chest. "I'm serious, Y/N. I'm done asking nicely."

"Since when do you ask nicely?"

He raised an eyebrow at you. You sighed, rolling your eyes and taking your bag off of your back. You found the homework in one of your folders and handed it to him.

"I hate you, Mingi."

"She said she hated you? Dude, that's what you get." Jongho laughed as Mingi told him the story.

"It's not funny. It hurt my feelings." Mingi pouted.

Jongho stopped laughing and leaned forward, elbows on his knees as he eyed Mingi. "You deserve what she said to you, Mingi. You're awful to her. Do you know how many times I've seen her crying? A lot, and whenever I ask her if she's okay, she smiles, Mingi. The girl smiles. You've broken her, further than she might've already been broken. You know how hard it is for her. Her dads always gone on business, her moms a druggie, and she doesn't have anyone because you've made her feel worthless. She feels like she's not good enough for anyone, so she doesn't even try to make friends. Next time she hurts your feelings, think about how many times you've hurt hers."

Jongho got up and walked out of Mingi's front door. Mingi groaned and angrily ran his hand through his hair.

"I'm an awful person." He mumbled to himself.

"Why do you say that, honey?" His mom asked, popping her head into the living room.

Mingi sighed. "I've been really mean to this one girl, and I think I've taken it way too far. She said she hated me today and it really hurt my feelings." He paused. "Jongho said something that made me feel really bad, and I want to make up for everything I've done to her."

His mom smiled and walked into the living room, patting Mingi on the leg. "You like her don't you?"

His eyes went wide. "What? No."

"Don't lie to me. You're blushing. Just confess your love for her."

"Mom~" He whined.

She smiled and ruffled Mingi's hair. "Trust me."

The next morning you got up with puffy eyes. You had cried yourself to sleep, and you literally felt awful. Everything from the previous day came running back into your mind like a train, making you groan. You hurried into the bathroom and grabbed the sharpest thing there was.

Taking it to your wrist, you inhale sharply when the blade goes into your skin, a small blood pool on the floor. You did it a couple more times before the pain in your head went away and your forgot about the sadness you were blanketed in, only feeling numb.

You took a warm shower and got ready for the day, dodging your mom as you walked out. As you walked to school, you realized you were crying, and before you walked into the school, you made sure to wipe your face.

"Hey, Y/N." Jongho greeted you.

You didn't look up. "Hey."

"I just want to apologize on my behalf for Mingi's behavior. He shouldn't treat you like that."

"It's not your fault, Jongho. Plus, I'm used to it now." You shrugged.

He stopped walking, making you stop. "That's awful. You shouldn't get used to someone treating you so badly."

"It's not like he's gonna stop."

Jongho smiled and patted your head. "I wouldn't be so sure, Y/N."

He walked away, leaving you confused and curious.

Later that day, as you made your way to lunch, you turned a corner and saw Mingi. The two of you made eye contact and you turned on your heels.

"Y/N!" He yelled.

You ignored him, but he ran after you and grabbed your wrist, making you hiss in pain.

"I'm sorry." He paused, watching you carefully. "Did you do something?"

"Why do you care?" You cried, tears forming in the corner of your eyes.

He lifted up your hoodie sleeve and looked at your wrist, looking at you sadly. He knew you had to have done that earlier that morning, or they wouldn't have been so red.

"Did you do this because of me?"

You looked him in the eyes as you couldn't make words. Your tears fell, and so did Mingi's. He pulled you into his chest and held your head with one hand, while the other laid on your back.

"I'm sorry." He mumbled. "I'm so, so sorry."

Your mom kept throwing things and throwing things. She wouldn't stop, and she was high out of her mind.

"Quit throwing stuff, Mom!" You yelled.

She eyed you, before throwing a picture frame at you. You dodged it and it cracked. When you looked at the picture that had just broken, tears formed in your eyes as you turned to your mother.

"That was the only picture I had with Dad." You told her.

"You'd have more if he was ever around!" She snapped.

"It's not like you're any better! You're high all the time, getting laid by some strange men wherever the hell you go at three in the morning, and you're not fit to be a mother!"

"You're not a very good daughter either, Y/N!"

You took a few steps toward her and jabbed your finger into her chest. "That's bullshit. I've done everything I could to be a good daughter and make you love me, but you treat me like shit."

You pushed her, and she pushed back. You guys started yelling at each other, but that all stopped when she slapped you. You'd gotten into fights with each other, throwing things and pushing each other, but she never hit you.

You looked at her with wide, teary eyes before leaving the house, bumping into a strong chest halfway down your driveway.

"Y/N?"

You looked up at the sound of Mingi's voice. "I really can't deal with any more fighting, Mingi-"

"I'm not here to fight with you. I'm here to apologize." He said, wiping the tears off your cheeks with his thumbs.

You squinted your eyes. "Why the hell would you want to do that?"

He sighed and grabbed your hands, pulling you closer to him. "I've liked you for so long, and I figured if I was mean to you, you'd get the message. You know, people always say if a boy is mean to a girl that means he likes her, but that's the dumbest thing anyone has ever said. And I went way too far. I got so caught up in the teasing and bullying that I forgot to show you that I really like you, and I'm sorry. I'm extremely sorry, and I feel like a complete idiot for taking it to a point where you felt the need to hurt yourself-"

You cut him off my grabbing his shirt and pulling him down into a kiss. "I accept your apology."

"I wanted to be the one to kiss you." He pouted.

"Sorry, I couldn't stop looking at your lips." You smiled.

He smiled back before resting a hand on your cheek. "You really accept my apology?"

You nodded. "Yeah. I'll still have a lot of getting used to with you, no offense. And I accept your confession, because I really like you, too. I knew there was something deep down in you that made me so attracted to you."

He laughed and pulled you into a slightly heated kiss. He bit your lip and slipped his tongue into your mouth, and you only pulled away for air. Panting, you grabbed his hand and started walking.

"Do you wanna eat? I don't want to go back in there." You said, gesturing to your house.

"Sure. If you want you can stay at my place and crash tonight."

You looked over at him. "After that kiss, I don't know if I can trust you being under the same roof as me."

"Come on, Y/N. We're not even official yet, and even if we were I'd wait until you were ready and wanted to."

You blushed as you smiled. "We can be official."

He smiled big and hugged you tightly. "Really?"

You nodded and he pulled away to kiss you gently. "Now we can do boyfriend and girlfriend stuff."

"We were going to anyway. We're literally holding hands right now." You laughed.

He smiled. "True, but now I can call you my girlfriend and you're all mine."
