vulnerable
"Morning, baby," Wooyoung whispered against Yunho's neck, having fell asleep on top of the slightly older.
"I don't feel good to get up," Yunho sighed.
"Me too, let's smoke," Wooyoung pouted, snuggling closer to Yunho's chest. Yunho nodded in agreement, taking the cigarette pack from the nightstand drawer.
"You do mine, i can do yours," Yunho shrugged, holding the lighter for Wooyoung to light two cigarettes.
"Baby...," Wooyoung pouted like he did everytime he felt sad, clinging to Yunho. "I... i feel bad, can i be little?" He asked timidly.
"Ofcourse, you can be little if it makes you feel more comfortable," Yunho nodded immediately, wrapping his arms around Wooyoung and pulling him closer. "Do you want me to hold you like a baby?"
Wooyoung nodded, his eyes shining with a mixture of vulnerability and affection. "Yes, please," he murmured, resting his head against Yunho's shoulder.
Yunho shifted to a more comfortable position, cradling Wooyoung in his arms as if he were the most precious thing in the world. He took a long drag from his cigarette before exhaling slowly, the smoke curling lazily into the air. "How's that?" he asked softly, brushing a few strands of hair away from Wooyoung's face.
"Better," Wooyoung sighed, his small frame relaxing against Yunho's warmth. "I just... I don't know, everything feels heavy today."
Yunho pressed a gentle kiss to the crown of Wooyoung's head. "It's okay to feel that way sometimes. We're here together, and you don't have to carry anything alone."
Wooyoung nestled closer, closing his eyes. "Thank you. I like being little with you. It makes me feel safe."
Yunho chuckled lightly, holding Wooyoung tighter. "You can be little for as long as you need. Just focus on feeling good, okay?"
They stayed in their cocoon of warmth, the sounds of the morning outside fading into the background as they shared this moment together. With another puff on their cigarettes, Yunho felt a sense of peace enveloping them both, knowing that in this little world of theirs, everything would be alright.
Yunho smiled softly as he felt Wooyoung drift off, his breathing becoming steady and rhythmic. The warmth radiating from Wooyoung's body was comforting, and Yunho couldn't help but feel a surge of affection for the younger man curled up against him.
He watched Wooyoung's face, noticing how peaceful and serene he looked in his sleep. The tension in Wooyoung's features seemed to melt away, the worries of the world outside forgotten for the moment. Yunho savored this quiet intimacy, relishing the bond they shared. It was moments like this that reminded him how important it was to be there for Wooyoung, to support him in both the light and the dark.
As he took another drag from his cigarette, Yunho shifted just slightly to ensure that Wooyoung was comfortable, careful not to disturb him. He had always been protective of Wooyoung, and the sight of him sleeping so contently filled Yunho's heart with warmth.
With each passing minute, Yunho felt the weight of his own worries lift. He put out the cigarette, deciding the smoke-filled air might not be the best for Wooyoung's peaceful sleep. Instead, he settled into the quietness of the morning, simply existing in this little bubble of serenity.
Yunho thought about what the day might bring, but for now, all he wanted was to cherish this moment—Wooyoung, happy and carefree, resting soundly in his arms. It was in these simple things that Yunho found his happiness. He leaned his head back against the headboard, allowing himself to relax, knowing that they would face whatever came next together.
Wooyoung woke up around dinner, but didn't open his arms as Yunho's voice reached his ears.
"Yeah, he's sleeping. My baby... Yeah, ofcourse. Come to our place, ok, bye Mingi," Yunho whispered, still running his fingers through Wooyoung's in a soothing motion.
"Baby, i don't want to talk to anyone today," Wooyoung pouted, curling in a smaller ball to feel less vulnerable. "I feel vulnerable, i hate it,"
Yunho chuckled softly, understanding the mood Wooyoung was in. "I know, I know," he said, his voice low and comforting. "But you don’t have to face it alone. I’m right here with you."
Wooyoung peeked out from his cocoon of blankets, his big eyes glistening with the remnants of sleep. "What did Mingi want?" he mumbled, unsure if he wanted to know but too curious to resist.
"He just wanted to check in, see if we were okay," Yunho replied, shifting slightly to give Wooyoung a little more space, though he still kept his hand firmly pressed against his side. "You know how he is—always looking out for us."
Wooyoung sighed, the sound both cute and melancholy. "I just feel so drained. I thought sleeping would help, but now I just feel... sticky. Like I can’t shake this feeling off."
Yunho nodded, his heart aching for his boyfriend. "Well, how about we just stay here for a while longer? No calls, no texts, just us.” He lifted his hand to gently cup Wooyoung’s face, stroking his thumb over his cheek. “We can watch a movie or just talk. Whatever you need right now."
Wooyoung relaxed a little at that, leaning into Yunho’s touch. "You promise it’ll just be us?"
"Promise," Yunho assured him, his eyes soft and sincere. "I’ve got you. Always."
With a small smile breaking through his pout, Wooyoung took a deep breath, feeling a bit more grounded. Maybe today wouldn’t be so bad after all.
Mingi came to Yunho's shared apartment half an hour later, knocking on the door a few times.
"Wait!" Yunho's voice came from behind the door, opening a second later. "Come in, Wooyoung is feeling down so he won't be talking tonight,"
"Oh, did something happened?" Mingi asked worridly, seeing the bundle of blankets in a ball on the couch. Face poking out, skin pale and a bit flushed from sleep, Wooyoung didn’t look like his usual energetic self.
"Nothing specific," Yunho replied, his expression calm but serious. "He just needs a little time to recharge. I thought it was a good idea to keep things quiet for tonight."
Mingi stepped inside, concern etched across his features as he approached the couch. "Hey, Wooyoung," he called softly, kneeling beside him. "You okay?"
Wooyoung peeked out from beneath the blankets, giving Mingi a small wave, his eyes more tired than usual. "Hi, Mingi. I'm just... tired," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.
Mingi sat down on the coffee table, trying to keep the atmosphere light. "Well, I brought snacks," he said cheerfully, pulling out a bag of chips and some candy from his bag. "Thought it might cheer you up."
Yunho smiled, grateful for Mingi’s thoughtfulness. "That’s perfect. Just what we need for our lazy night in," he encouraged, patting Wooyoung's back lightly.
Wooyoung sniffled, a tiny smile creeping onto his lips at the sight of the snacks. He hated feeling down, especially when his friends were trying to cheer him up, but seeing Mingi’s familiar goofy grin helped lift his spirits just a bit.
Mingi looked from Wooyoung to Yunho, gauging their moods. "Hey, what do you think about a movie night? I can pick something really silly and fun. How does that sound?"
Wooyoung shrugged, moving slightly out of his blanket cocoon. "I just want to sleep," he sighed, pulling the blanket higher. The two didn't say much after that but Wooyoung could tell they opened a movie and closed the lights, he felt his head being lifted and put on Yunho's lap, carresing his hair that peeked from the blanket.
"If my baby is feeling worse, squeeze my hand," Yunho whispered, curling a strand around his finger.
"Your baby is gonna cry all night if I’m not careful," Wooyoung mumbled, his voice laced with a blend of exhaustion and vulnerability.
Yunho looked down at him, his expression softening even more. "Then we’ll cry together," he replied gently. "No judgment, just us, okay? We’re allowed to feel whatever we feel."
A small, shaky breath escaped Wooyoung as he nodded. "Okay." The weight of Yunho’s presence and the warmth of his hand in his hair provided a soothing contrast against his bubbling emotions. It felt nice to know he didn’t have to pretend—or hold anything back.
Mingi, sensing the shift in the atmosphere, decided to keep it light. "Alright then, perfect movie, perfect snacks," he said, reaching into the bag of chips. "And if you do decide to cry, I’ll bring the tissues!"
Wooyoung chuckled softly, something like warmth fluttering inside him at Mingi's efforts to lighten the mood. “You’re the best, Mingi,” he said quietly.
With the movie playing softly in the background, Mingi settled down on the floor and grabbed a handful of chips, while Yunho continued to stroke Wooyoung’s hair, his fingers playing with the ends as he leaned back comfortably against the couch.
As the first few scenes rolled by, Wooyoung found the tension in his chest loosening just a bit more. The familiar jokes and silly antics on screen helped distract him from the weight he was carrying.
Yet, there were moments when he would feel a wave of emotion hitting him—sometimes it was loneliness, other times it was simply the exhaustion of having to wear a brave face. Each time, he squeezed Yunho's hand, and each time, Yunho would respond with a gentle, reassuring squeeze of his own.
Mingi noticed when Wooyoung went quiet again. He turned to him, a concerned expression crossing his face. “You sure you’re okay?” he asked, his voice softer now.
Wooyoung sighed, grateful for Mingi’s vigilance. “I just... I feel like I’m a burden sometimes. It’s dumb, I know that, but... it’s hard not to think about it.”
Mingi shook his head vehemently. “You’re never a burden, Wooyoung. We love having you around. Even on your down days. It’s okay to feel off sometimes. We all do.”
Yunho added tenderly, his fingers still caressing Wooyoung’s hair. “And it’s also okay to lean on us. We’ll always be here to catch you when you fall.”
The sincerity in their words was evident, and it warmed Wooyoung’s heart. He didn’t need to hide his vulnerability from them. “Thanks, guys. Really,” he said softly, feeling a small sense of relief wash over him.
With a little more ease, he nestled deeper into Yunho’s lap, allowing himself to relax further, the sound of Mingi munching on chips and the movie playing in the background creating a comforting cocoon around them.
As the film continued, Wooyoung felt a blend of emotions but also the security that came from having his loved ones by his side. They didn’t need grand plans or big distractions; just their presence made all the difference.
Little by little, the heaviness in his chest began to dissipate like clouds parting for the sun. Perhaps tomorrow would bring brighter moments, but for now, he was content to be right where he was—with his favorite people, surrounded by love that made even the down days a little easier to bear.
