high fever
"Wooyoung, it's still early. Stop moving," Yunho muttered, wrapping his arms around Wooyoung's waist and kissing his forehead.
"My nose is stuffed, my leg hurts, and my stomach is going to eat itself because of hunger," Wooyoung sniffled, wiping the tears on Yunho's shirt
"I don't like this," he whispered, pushing the pillows away and blanket up. "It's cold, my body hurts, and i can't breathe properly." He let out a frustrated sigh, feeling a wave of exhaustion wash over him.
Yunho tightened his hold, offering warmth as best as he could. "I know, baby. Just a little longer, okay? Let’s try to rest, and then we can figure out what to do about your stomach," he said softly, rubbing small circles on Wooyoung's back.
Wooyoung leaned into Yunho, seeking comfort. "What if I can't sleep?" he murmured, his voice muffled against Yunho's shoulder.
"Then I'll keep you company," Yunho replied, gently stroking Wooyoung's hair. "We can watch something or talk, but you have to at least try to relax. You need to take care of yourself."
With a reluctant nod, Wooyoung settled back against Yunho. The warmth of his boyfriend’s body was soothing, even if the irritation of his cold lingered. "You promise to stay?"
"Always," Yunho smiled, adjusting the blanket around them. "Let’s try to forget about the world outside for a bit. Just focus on us."
Wooyoung closed his eyes, allowing the sound of Yunho’s heartbeat to lull him into a calm state. “Okay… but if I start to feel worse, you have to take me to the doctor.”
“Deal,” Yunho chuckled softly, planting another gentle kiss on Wooyoung's forehead as they both slowly drifted into a peaceful rest.

Wooyoung, unfortunately, woke up again a few hours later with still stuffed nose and a heat radiating off of his body.
"Yuyu," he whispered, nudging Yunho gently with his elbow. His voice was hoarse and thick, the congestion not letting up. "Yunho, I think I'm getting worse."
Yunho stirred, blinking sleep from his eyes. The dim light seeping through the curtains reminded him of how late it was getting. "Hey, Wooyoung, what's wrong?" he asked, voice still heavy with sleep.
"I feel really hot," Wooyoung admitted, a frown creasing his forehead. "And my throat hurts. I don't think I can just sleep this off." He sniffled again, the discomfort too much to ignore.
Yunho's heart sank at the sound of his boyfriend’s distressed tone. “Okay, okay. Let’s check your temperature first,” he said, quickly sitting up. He swung his legs over the side of the bed and reached for the thermometer on the nightstand.
As Yunho took Wooyoung’s temperature, he felt a knot tighten in his stomach. “Just a little more,” he urged while Wooyoung shifted anxiously beside him.
After a few agonizing seconds, the thermometer beeped. Yunho glanced at it, his frown deepening. “You have a fever. We need to get you some medicine.”
“I don’t want to go anywhere,” Wooyoung protested weakly, curling back under the covers like a small ball. “Everything hurts, and I feel so tired…”
Yunho scooted closer, his expression softening as he placed a comforting hand on Wooyoung's forehead. “I know, love. But we need to bring that fever down. Let me take care of you, okay? I’ll get you some medicine and hot soup. You just need to rest.”
With a reluctant sigh, Wooyoung nodded. “Will you come back right away?”
“Of course. I’ll be back before you know it,” Yunho promised, leaning down to place another kiss on Wooyoung’s forehead before standing up and heading towards the door. “I’ll be quick.”
As Yunho went to retrieve what Wooyoung needed, the smaller boy pulled the blankets tighter around him, feeling grateful to have someone who cared so much. Even through the discomfort, the love he felt for Yunho warmed him from the inside out.

Yunho ended up taking Wooyoung to the hospital because the fever wasn't going down after soup and medicine. The drive to the hospital felt unusually long, but Wooyoung leaned against the passenger door, staring out at the passing lights with a foggy mind. He felt dizzy and exhausted. Even the simplest movements seemed to require all of his strength.
“Just hold on a little longer, okay?” Yunho said gently, glancing over with worry etched on his face. He reached over, rubbing Wooyoung's knee lightly. “We’ll get you checked out, and I’ll be right there with you.”
“I know,” Wooyoung murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. “I’m sorry for dragging you out at night.”
“Don’t apologize,” Yunho replied firmly. “Your health is the most important thing. I would do this a thousand times for you.” He tightened his grip on the steering wheel, determination in his eyes.
Once they arrived at the hospital, Yunho helped Wooyoung out of the car and into the building. The cool air of the lobby hit Wooyoung's flushed skin, sending a shiver down his spine. As they approached the reception, Wooyoung could hardly focus on what was happening. He leaned heavily against Yunho for support.
After a few moments, the staff checked him in and brought them to an exam room. Wooyoung sat on the crinkly paper-covered bed while Yunho hung close, never letting his hand stray far from Wooyoung’s back.
A nurse soon entered, introducing herself with a warm smile. “Hello there! I’m going to check your vitals, okay?”
Wooyoung nodded, his throat dry and scratchy as she took his temperature and blood pressure. The thermometer beeped again, and the nurse’s smile faltered slightly as she noted the high reading.
“Let’s get the doctor in here, shall we?” she said, exiting the room promptly. Wooyoung's heart began to race as uncertainty crept in.
“Yunho, what if it’s bad?” His voice trembled slightly as he glanced up at his partner, whose expression radiated calm.
“Whatever it is, we’ll face it together,” Yunho reassured him, his thumb gently stroking Wooyoung’s shoulder. “You’re strong, and so are we. Just focus on breathing for now.”
As they waited, Wooyoung tried to distract himself by squeezing Yunho’s hand and reminding himself of the warmth their relationship brought him. Finally, the doctor arrived, a kind-looking woman who introduced herself and began asking Wooyoung questions about his symptoms.
After a thorough examination and lab test, the doctor returned with a diagnosis. “It seems you’ve developed a viral infection, which can cause the fever and other symptoms you’ve been experiencing. We’ll give you some medication to help manage the fever and make you more comfortable, but it’s important to rest and hydrate.”
Wooyoung nodded, relief washing over him. “Thank you, I just want to feel better.”
“You will,” the doctor assured him. “It may take a few days, but with some care and plenty of fluids, you should be on your way to recovery soon.”
As she left the room to get the prescribed medication, Wooyoung sank into the bed, exhausted but grateful. He turned to Yunho, his eyes misty. “I’m sorry for putting you through all this.”
“Hey,” Yunho said softly, cupping Wooyoung’s face in his hands. “You never have to apologize for needing help. I’m just glad we came when we did. Now let’s get you taken care of, okay?”
With a weak smile, Wooyoung nodded. “Okay. Thanks for being here.”
“Always. Now let’s get you feeling better,” Yunho replied, kissing Wooyoung’s forehead gently as he settled in beside him, ready to wait however long it took.

As Yunho drove through the quiet streets back to their apartment, he could feel the weight of Wooyoung’s exhaustion pressing down on him like a heavy blanket. Wooyoung was slumped in the passenger seat, his head resting against the window, eyes half-closed as he tried to fight the fatigue threatening to pull him back under.
“Are you feeling okay?” Yunho asked, glancing over with concern.
Wooyoung nodded slowly, though the motion seemed to require more effort than he had. "Just tired," he admitted, his voice soft.
They arrived at their building, and Yunho helped Wooyoung out of the car, wrapping an arm around him for support. As they made their way inside, Wooyoung leaned against Yunho, drawing comfort from their closeness.
Once they reached their apartment, Yunho settled Wooyoung onto the couch, draping a blanket over him. “I’ll get some water and your meds,” he said, hurrying to the kitchen.
Wooyoung watched him go, a small smile creeping onto his lips despite his fatigue. It was moments like this that made him realize just how lucky he was to have Yunho. He knew that the other boy would do anything to take care of him, but the thought of burdening him with the expenses nagged at his mind.
When Yunho returned with a glass of water and the medicine, he handed them to Wooyoung. “Here you go. Make sure you take these,” he encouraged, watching as Wooyoung swallowed the pills with a grimace.
“You didn’t have to pay for me, you know,” Wooyoung said quietly after a moment, his expression serious. “I don’t want to be a financial burden.”
Yunho shook his head, sitting down beside him and placing a reassuring hand on Wooyoung's knee. “You’re never a burden to me, Wooyoung. I want to take care of you—both health-wise and financially. You mean too much for me to think about money in situations like this.”
“But it’s still a lot,” Wooyoung murmured, feeling guilty about the cost of the visit and the medicine. “I don’t want you to feel like you have to—”
“Listen,” Yunho interrupted softly but firmly, looking deep into Wooyoung’s eyes. “Your health is my priority. You need attention and care, especially right now. I want to be here for you, and that includes helping out when you need it. Love is about taking care of each other, and I’m more than happy to do that.”
Wooyoung felt a warmth seep into his chest at Yunho’s words. He wanted to argue, to bitch and moan about how he should be the one taking care of things, but he also knew deep down that Yunho was right. They were partners, and part of being in a relationship meant leaning on each other during hard times.
“Okay,” Wooyoung finally relented, managing a small smile. “I guess I can let you spoil me a little.”
“A lot,” Yunho corrected with a playful grin. “Now, just lay back and rest. I’ll make us some tea and then we can watch something. No more stressing about anything, alright?”
“Alright,” Wooyoung replied, feeling the tension ease from his shoulders a little. He snuggled deeper into the blanket, letting the warmth of Yunho’s presence and his comforting words wash over him.
As Yunho headed back into the kitchen, Wooyoung closed his eyes, allowing the peaceful atmosphere to envelop him. With Yunho by his side, he knew he could focus on getting better. It felt good to be cared for.
