Chicken Sandwich

"Baby," Seonghwa said softly, looking around for Yeosang, who was not beside him in the bed. "Yeosangie?"

No answer. Seonghwa got up and opened the wardrobe, finding Yeosang curled up on the floor. Sleeping peacefully with a half eaten chicken sandwich in his hand.

"Baby, you couldn't finish? And why are you wrapped in my blanket? I thought you hated the smell of it," Seonghwa chuckled softly, kneeling down beside Yeosang. He brushed a stray hair from Yeosang’s forehead, admiring how adorably disheveled he looked. The blanket, which was usually an overpowering mix of Seonghwa's cologne and the faint scent of laundry detergent, was somehow comforting to Yeosang in this moment.

Yeosang stirred, blinking sleepily as he registered Seonghwa's presence. “Mmm…” he mumbled, rubbing his eyes and making a face that was half groggy and half embarrassed as he glanced at the remnants of his sandwich. “I-I did finish it. I just fell asleep,” he defended weakly, a sheepish smile creeping onto his face.

Seonghwa laughed softly, his heart warming at the sight. “You’re lucky you’re cute, otherwise I might have to scold you for having a midnight snack on the floor.”

Yeosang pouted playfully, stretching his arms above his head as he sat up. “Well, I wasn’t the one who hogged all the blankets,” he shot back, his voice still thick with sleep.

“Fair point,” Seonghwa admitted, offering a hand to help Yeosang to his feet. As Yeosang took it, Seonghwa pulled him in for a quick embrace, breathing in the familiar scent that lingered on him, despite the blanket. “But you know I’d share them if you asked.”

“I know,” Yeosang replied softly, leaning into Seonghwa’s warmth. “But sometimes it feels nice to steal them away.”

Seonghwa chuckled before noticing the remnants of the sandwich once more. “And I see you’re not one to share food either,” he teased, pretending to reach for the chicken sandwich.

“Hey! That was a delicious sandwich, thank you very much!” Yeosang protested, stepping back dramatically. “You should be honored I even offered you a bite.”

“I’ll take that as a compliment,” Seonghwa laughed, shaking his head. “Come on, let’s get you back to bed before you turn into a chicken sandwich yourself.”

With a reluctant nod, Yeosang allowed Seonghwa to lead him back to the bed. As they settled under the covers, Yeosang snuggled close, seeking the warmth of Seonghwa’s body. “Next time, I’ll finish it,” he mumbled, half-asleep already.

Seonghwa smiled, wrapping his arms around Yeosang. “You know I don’t mind waking up to you, even if it means finding you on the floor with half a sandwich.”

With a satisfied sigh, Yeosang nestled closer, finally allowing himself to drift back into a peaceful sleep, comforted by Seonghwa’s presence.

Seonghwa watched as Yeosang took another bite from the chicken sandwich he couldn't finish last time, sitting at Yeosang's favorite Cafe.

"Baby, your eyes are closing again," Seonghwa said, a teasing tone in his voice as he leaned over the small table. Yeosang had settled into the cozy café, the smell of freshly brewed coffee and baked goods wafting through the air, but his eyelids were drooping with every bite he took.

Yeosang looked up, his cheeks stuffed with food, and he squinted at Seonghwa. “I’m not tired, I’m just… savoring,” he replied, attempting to sound earnest but failing miserably as a yawn escaped his lips.

Seonghwa chuckled, shaking his head fondly. “You could have brought that sandwich with you if you wanted to snack while you worked. It wouldn’t have been a problem.”

“I didn’t want to be that person who hauls a full meal into a café,” Yeosang said, finally managing to swallow. “Besides, I think it’s cute that I get sleepy in the middle of eating.”

“It is cute,” Seonghwa agreed, his heart swelling at the sight of Yeosang so carefree and comfortable. “But I’d rather you enjoy your food while you're awake, you know?”

Yeosang glanced at him from under his lashes, a playful smile breaking through. “You just want me to entertain you with my sandwich connoisseur skills,” he teased, taking another bite as if to emphasize his point.

“Guilty as charged,” Seonghwa admitted, leaning back in his chair with a grin. “I mean, look at you! Who else could pull off looking adorable with a mouth full of sandwich and sleepy eyes?”

Yeosang finished chewing and couldn’t help but laugh, shaking his head. “You’re ridiculous,” he said, wiping his mouth with a napkin. “But I appreciate the compliments. Maybe I should take more lunch breaks with you to get some proper sleep.”

“Actually, I think you should take some actual breaks,” Seonghwa suggested gently. “You’ve been working really hard lately. A little more time for yourself wouldn’t hurt.”

“You sound like my personal life coach,” Yeosang replied, rolling his eyes playfully. “But I guess you’re right. I just get caught up in all the stuff I want to do.”

“Then let’s make a deal,” Seonghwa proposed, leaning forward with earnest energy. “Every time you feel sleepy at work, we take a coffee break together. And you can bring whatever snack you want.”

“I like that deal,” Yeosang said brightly, his eyes finally lighting up. “I’ll hold you to it!”

“Good,” Seonghwa said with a satisfied smile. “Now finish that sandwich before you doze off again.”

“Okay, okay!” Yeosang laughed, taking another big bite as Seonghwa shook his head in amusement. After a moment, he reached across the table to squeeze Yeosang’s hand, his expression softening. “Just remember, I’m always here for you, sleepyhead.”

Yeosang blushed slightly, feeling warmth pool in his chest. “I know. And I’m really glad you are,” he said, meeting Seonghwa’s gaze. “Now, can you help me with that last bite?”

Seonghwa raised an eyebrow, smirking as he leaned in closer. “You mean… you want me to take it for you?”

“Maybe,” Yeosang replied with a playful glint in his eyes.

With a soft laugh, Seonghwa leaned forward, playfully stealing the last bite of the sandwich. “Consider it a service to keep you awake!” he said, savoring the taste.

“Mmm, good choice,” Yeosang commented, rolling his eyes playfully. “Next time, I’ll be sure to make a much bigger sandwich just for you.”

“Deal,” Seonghwa said, grinning before they both erupted into laughter, filling the café with their joy and warmth.
