Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Eager 2 year old Atala watched as her mother directed around a few of her subjects, she stared at the gleaming black opal on the crown. She couldn't wait to wear that crown, and be the one in charge of everyone.
4 Years Later
"Class, pull out your history scrolls, read the chapter about Darkstalker."
Atala groaned, she hated these lessons. It was the time she hated, she preferred the middle of the night, when she had secret meetings with Titania. Instead of reading about some mighty evil dragon, she started sketching her future crown, a small golden shape with a fan-shaped hope diamond, with little sapphires surrounding the shape.
Her teacher stopped talking about Darkstalker.
"Atala, our lovely little princess, stop drawing your fancy future crown and follow along with the reading."
She put the scroll in her small jewel embedded leather pouch, her teacher passed around review scrolls, Atala should have known this was coming, she filled in the questions at random, this grade was sure going to be a new all-time low.
Her teacher picked up each scroll carefully as if they were fragile glass trinkets, Atala reached for her's back to hide it in her pouch.
Her talons missed the scroll, she tipped over as she fell off her slab of stalagmite, her whole entire class erupted with laughter, even her best friend Adhara was laughing.
"Adhara, stop it right now."
Adhara's giggles bursted out even louder.
"ADHARA, YOU WILL BE EXECUTED FOR THIS!"
"You wouldn't even make a dent in my scales, you would poke me and then fall over dead like a scavenger." Adhara claimed.
"I have guards to do the dirty work for me besides we all know you have a crush on my personal guard, Apollo."
"You wouldn't dare tell." Adhara said, shakily at the thought of him knowing.
Apollo was standing at the door just guarding it, Queen Constella, made it clear it was his job to keep Atala safe at all costs.
"APOLLO?"
"Yes princess?" He replied wondering what she wanted now.
"Adhara likes you."
His eyes looked at Atala in shock, he didn't like Adhara that way. He flew out the door to guard the room from the outside instead.
Adhara's eyes looked as if they could shoot daggers or lasers at Atala.
Atala saw Apollo peer in, he was looking at Callisto.
Apollisto, she thought, the ship that ruins Adhara.
She couldn't wait to crush Adhara's fragile little heart, but for now she had to flee this dungeon of a school so she could just count down the seconds till her meeting with Titania.
