Chapter 33

Erica Hanali POV

I got to the school by 8:30am and they had just finished their assembly when I walked in. I surveyed my surroundings and noticed the junior students were entering a different building which I presumed as the junior block. While on the right hand side the seniors, dressed in long sleeve were entering the building on the right.

"Whao... This is..." I breathed out in awe of the place. It was better than they showed it on TV. At the center of the school was the school monument void of students since they were all getting settled in their classes. At the far end, there were two other halls - one where some students were still troping out of and the other, I presume to the the cafeteria. I was still busy looking around admiring the school when someone cleared their throat to get my attention.

"Ehem...are you lost? No. That's not even a question. You're definitely lost. So how may I help you?" One of the senior students asked, her arms folded and a hard stare on her face. I looked at her up and down wondering why she was being unnecessarily rude, not to mention proud too. I studied her features, scanning her properly until my eyed land on the the name stage on the breast pocket of her blazer. I looked closer and I pronounced what I saw..

"Head girl?"

"Yes. Head girl. The one and only current head girl of Dowen Academy. Who are you and what do—"

"Erica— Erica Hanali. And would you please adjust your tone. I am also the headgirl of my school and I would not appreciate you talking to me like that." I said and she glared at me. We were busy having a glaring contest when a guy in a very dark complexion walked up to us. He stared at me for a while before looking at the head girl of Dowen Academy. He stared at me again before looking back at the head girl, after a few seconds of uncomfortably standing there, he cleared is throat to get our attention and that worked.

"Oh good Ebuka you are here. Tell this thing that her presence isn't wanted here."

"Excuse me?" I said, shocked at her rude tone and expression. Was this the school my best friend was going to mingling with these rude mother fuckers? God I hope she wasn't bullied by this self absorbing head girl, what is her name again?

"I am sorry about my friend. Emmanuella! What has gotten into you? How could you be so rude to someone you just met?" He whisper-yelled at her even though I was right in front of them. I rolled my eyes at their drama and interrupted rudely as well. If it's rude they want then two can play at that game.

"Look I don't care what you love birds are up to. You can make out for all I care but that will be when I have 'removed my self from this school' like you girlfriend rightly said." I responded with a maniacal grin on my face as I folded my arms. They were both shocked at how I went from quiet to savage.

Hmph...did they really think I was there to play? I was there to find out information on how my friend landed in the hospital and I was not leaving until I find out. With that in mind I said more clearly and firmly this time.

"My name is Erica Hanali, head girl of Hebert Macaulay Prep. I am here to make enquiry on what happened to my friend, Tomiwa Adeshika. You love birds had better start talking." I said with authority and a tone of finality. This people think I came there to play but they thought wrong. They didn't know what was going on.

While they stayed quiet looking at me like I had magical horn on head, a small crowd of Seniors dressed in long sleeve gathered to witness what was going on and I smirked.

Well things got perpetual real quick, just when Emmanuella was about to speak and someone with a deep yet velvet smooth voice interrupted her saying.

"Yes? Yes? What is going on here? What's the problem Emmanuella?"

"I won't repeat myself." I simply said not fazed by his height of charming looks. He raised an eyebrow at me in a questioning manner before turning to look at Emmanuella, who then responded saying.

"She is Tomiwa's friend, here to find out what happened to her."

Immediately she said that his mouth formed an oh shape in realization, after turning back to look at the faces behind him when he finally said.

"Well then, I think we all know the answer to her question. Your friend Tomiwa committed a grievous offense, one we never saw coming, at least not from her."

"Get to the point already, I don't have all day here." I said to him when it was taking forever to get to the point. He looked shocked and taken aback by my boldness to cut him short— especially while still in his school. He opened and closed his mouth like a fish out of water, this gave me time to study his physique a little. He was slim but not too slim, well built and of average height. His hair was in a buzz cut and his complexion could be passed off a caramel chocolate. When he wouldn't say anything, a girl walked forward and gave him a little smack on the head.

"Kelvin, how can you be the head boy and not have confidence to talk assertively? The name is Lydia, and the Tomiwa you are looking for has been missing for 3 days. She was caught red handed with a microchip during our Chemistry exam. The police arrived to get her arrested for exam malpractice, but before they could get their hands on her, she ran out of the class and out of the school. We haven't seen her since then."

"What?" I asked in shock. Was she telling the truth or was she making it up? Tomiwa? Exam malpractice? How? From where to where ? How come? Tomiwa and exam malpractice shouldn't even be in the same sentences to beginning with. Maybe they didn't know what there were talking about. The Tomiwa I know is in the hospital fighting for her life. There is no way that it's the same Tomiwa they are talking about. Exam malpractice kee ahhh...no oo. The Tomiwa I know will never do that.

"Well I beg to differ Lydia, because that same Tomiwa is the hospital in a comma fighting for her life."

"WHAT!!!"

I was startled and possibly frightened by their loud shout especially the shout from the mouth of the black boy. Why did he scream like that? It only made my ears get blocked for seconds. I glared at him only to see him finding it had to breath. His chest was rising and falling rapidly yet not enough air was entering his lungs. I could hear when one of his friends said to him...

"Ebuka you need to calm down. It's going to be fine, take a deep breath."

I heard Emmanuella and Kelvin trying their best to get Ebuka under control but that was none of my concern. I turn to Lydia to make more equiry but before I could speak, the dark boy spoke beating me to it. I thought he was having trouble breathing a while ago, how is he able to speak so effortlessly now?

"I have to, It's the only way. I need to take the blame for Tomiwa. She is in a comma for pit sake. Do you expect me to stand by and do nothing? No I am definitely taking the blames. You guys can't stop me."

They shook their heads in disagreement as they dialogue amongst themselves in whispers. Were this people seriously having this dialogue in front of me like I was no longer there? Are they playing or is there something amist them that I was supposed to know?

"We won't let that happen Ebuka, how will the school feel if they find out and accept you are the one responsible for exam practices?"

"Fuck this school! I can't believe you guys, how can you be so cold and heartless. Can't you see that its because of the exam malpractice that Tomiwa is in a comma!"

I looked back and forth from Ebuka to his friend, and immediately I knew my job there was done. I was about leaving when Lydia noticed, she stopped me to ask the one question I was anticipating them to ask. With the smirk never leaving my face I said to her immediately she asked the question.

"So how can we find her? Where is she?"

"That is for me to know. And for you to find out. Hmph... Au revoir"

THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEW

The room was dimly lit but I could see it clearly. I surveyed my surroundings and I saw the hall way quiet. Even the receptionist was dozing of on duty. Like a predator stealthy and waiting for the right moment to strike, I weaved my way through the sleeping bodies in the reception. With a smirk on my face I took in a deep noiceless breath and I picked the smell of Tomiwa. Yes my sweet sweet ginger bread.

I trace her smell to the room all the while being very stealthy about it. I got to her ward - ward 45. I opened the door with caution making sure the door doesn't make a single sound. Once I was sure she was the only one in the room I entered closing the door behind me securing the two of us in the ward.

I thought about locking us in but it would make a clicking sound, that will end up jeopardizing my breach into this place. I took my time walking to her bed and not long after I reached it, I took a seat as I watched her sleep. She looked so cute sleeping peacefully, her natural her was a huge mess on the bed. Her eyes were shut— hmm how I missed swinging fear in them. She was breathing peacefully into the oxygen mask and it was that moment that she was mine.

"Oh ginger bread."

I whispered out and immediately the monitor beeped louder only for a split seconds. I smirked, that only meant that whatever I said affected her, causing her heart pulse to rise. In that case I took my sweet time to speak to her choosing my words wisely.

"To you my heart belongs dearest ginger bread. I've always longed for a moment like this - moment where we are all alone and I can feast on you like a delicate meal that you are."

The monitor beeped louder and fast at the mention of my last statement. That cause me to shiver in delight as I grinned like a manic. I stood up from the chair I was sitting on, I hovered about her— blocking the lights that was illuminating the room and shining so brightly on her face. After I few seconds of marveling at her beauty and her squirming under my gaze. I finally said to her before the monitor began beeping like crazy.

"You're mine Tomiwa. Mine and mine alone."

The sound of foot steps approaching made me retrace my steps. There was no possible exit and my only option was the window. I opened it swiftly and jumped out the window. Luckily for me, the hospital wasn't a four story building. It was only three and Tomiwa was on the last floor. Regardless, I jump out the window risking my life at that too but the good thing was that I was a skilled jumper. I landed safely without a scratch.
