As I already explained, it was a perfectly normal day. There was nothing out of the ordinary: on the contrary. Everything was incredibly plain and dull.

However, things quickly began to develop. First, there was a call. The call from the Principal to the students during class, asking if anyone had seen Jason Oak as he hadn't been in school.

Why the Principal called, I'm not sure, but it may have been to do with the fact that Jason had always had an impeccable attendance record.

Linda had been worried at first, but this worry had quickly dissolved into more boredom and a little frustration at her boyfriend. He had told her they'd go on a date right after school, after all, and now that wouldn't happen.

She shrugged it off, however. He was probably sick. He hadn't been feeling so well the past few days. That date thing was a bother, though. She wrote to him during break, but again simply shrugged it off when he didn't reply. He probably had his phone off.

No one ever questioned the matter further simply because what truly happened was unthinkable in that town, in that neighbourhood, in that school and to those people.

It was a thought so absurd that anyone from Lansville would be out of the norm in any way that it never so much as graced anyone's mind.
