INSTRUMENTS: Clarinet {Anecdote III}
Slim
Curved
Silver and black
Fingers flying,
Dancing even
Over keys of wrought metal
Laid over dark carved wood.
Singing, it trembles
Underneath the fingertips
A melodic and savory song
Caressing the ears in deep
Notes of chocolate and musk
And high notes of spun sugar
And wind in the tree branches.
It breaths with life of its own
A magical creature tamed by
Its potent master on high,
Cradling it within agile hands
Waiting for the next note
To burst forth in glory
One great symphony
Told by a
Single soul
Lamenting grace, sweet grace bemoaned
Lost in the mists of time, now found again
In the solace of this unearthly thing that it Music.
