Let me take care of you
Charlotte woke up with quite a fright, she had no idea where she was and her head was killing her. She couldn't get the image of her ex husband throwing her out of the house they agreed she would stay in with their children. Tossing her belongings at her as she tried to get back in and eventually got the door slammed in her face. She knew she packed her things into the car and drove the town hopelessly. She stopped at the new bar by the nursery that opened a few weeks ago. She wasn't someone who would typically drink on a school night but after being thrown out of her own home, she needed a drink.
That's where Charlotte's memory stops though and she was afraid. She could be anywhere. What if someone had taken advantage of her? She quickly shakes the thought from her mind, not wanting to believe it could be a possibility.
She sits up looking at her surroundings as the tips of her fingers slipped under her shirt.
Wait.
This isn't my shirt.
Charlotte looks at it a bit closer trying to figure out maybe who she could be with. The shirt was black and was like the one Marceline gave to Bonnie in Adventure Time. She smiled, a bit relieved, wherever she had ended up... At least it was with someone who was a little nerdy like her. She relaxed enough to fall back asleep for a while. The rest was definitely needed after the hangover she was starting to fight off.
Mia laid awake still as her mind ran thousands of miles per hour. She decided she might as well get up if she wasn't going to sleep. She made sure to be quiet as a mouse as she walked into her room to get to the shower. She could see Charlotte was still peacefully sleeping and that gave her a chance to just breathe and quit worrying a bit. Brushing through her hair, she hummed a tune.
It was simple, you are sweetness
Let's just sit a while
Depollute me, gentle angel
And I'll feel the sickness less and less
Come and kiss me, pretty baby
Like we'll never have sex
She found herself singing the words as she washed her hair and cleaned herself up. The warm water helped her to relax a little bit more and she let her thoughts wonder away from worrying about Char to just being about her sweetheart.
The singing must have woken Charlotte up, she sat up in bed and felt her cheeks flushing as the memories she had been missing flooded back into her mind. She couldn't believe Mia had taken her in, let alone changed her and allowed her to sleep in her bed while she herself camped out away from the comfort of her own bedroom.
"Mia?" She heard herself call out. Her brain felt all fuzzy. She wasn't sure if that was the hangover or the effect Mia had on her.
Mia wrapped herself into a towel quickly. Worried something was wrong, she made her way over to Char as fast as she could without slipping.
"Charlotte, are you alright?"
"Mia.. I- well uh I-"
"Is your heard fuzzy, sweetheart? I know you must've been really slamming those drinks back last night. It's nearly half pass 5, if you take something for it now. It'll be better in time for work."
Charlotte nodded and felt very sheepish. She didn't know how to explain to Mia she couldn't take pills. There was a mental block that stopped her from being able to.
"Yes please but by chance do you happen to have any liquid?"
"Of course, sweetheart."
Mia felt Charlotte's head for a moment with the back of her hand. Before she left to get the girl some medicine, she pressed a gentle kiss on her nose.
"Be right back." She whispered softly before letting herself linger a moment. She was so close to her that she could feel the warmth of her breath and her lips were right there.
Mia pulled herself together quickly and left to make the trek to the kitchen. She found some liquid ibuprofen and grabbed the small cup that came along with it. She brought her water bottle upstairs as well, being careful not to drop anything as she went up.
Charlotte was sitting up with her back against the headboard by the time she had made her way back. "Oh my, thank you so much."
Mia smiled and began to pour the correct dosage into the cup for Charlotte.
"Man I really hate taking medicine. It makes me so nauseous and frankly, I'd rather suffer."
"Char." The edge on Mia's voice took her by surprise.
"You're going to let me take care of you and that means you have to take medicine to help you feel better."
"But it just is so horrible tasting! I hate the way it tastes-"
Mia cut her off as she gently grabbed the sides of her face.
"Open."
Charlotte obeyed and she knew if she wasn't red like a fire truck before, she definitely was now. Mia poured the medicine into Charlottes mouth and let go of her face allowing her to swallow. Then she went on to do the same thing as before with the water.
Mia was nervous, once again wondering if she had gone too far. "Such a good girl for me."
Oh fuck.
"Th-Thank you Mia. Not just this but for bringing me home and protecting me."
"Sweetheart, I can imagine what would've happen to you if you were by yourself by the bar. I would never forgive myself if I let anyone hurt my lov-you." Mia quickly corrected herself hoping she didn't notice the slip up.
