Renee stood in front of Mia, her eyes ablaze with fire. Mia felt herself getting ready to get sick again and Reese could tell. He pulled Renee away from her,"Calm down. I know you think you're protecting Charlotte but you need to listen to what she has to say."
"Yes Renee. We didn't know the whole story."
Renee took a deep breath and uncrossed her arms and sighed,"You have 5 minutes to explain to me what the fuck you did and why."
"Renee, get to bed now." Charlotte's voice startled everyone. "You don't speak to Mia like that no matter the situation. I understand what you think is helping but it isn't. Go up to bed with Ellie."
After watching the teen walk into the house, Charlotte turned towards Mia who was barely holding onto consciousness after the drugging and overwhelmingness going on around. "Mia." She pauses for a moment, she wipes her still puffy eyes and takes a deep breath."If you'd like to come in and explain what happened I'd really like to know why some random woman answered my call and why I was sent a picture of you kissing my guess is that woman."
Mia, Reese, and Marjorie followed Charlotte into the house and explained everything. Charlotte listened quietly, not much of a reaction on her face as Mia told her when she finally realized she had been roofied.
It was silent for a few minutes. The room was still and tense, no one could tell what was happening in Charlotte's head. She stood up and walked over to Mia, laying herself down on top of chest before beginning to weep. Mia's eyes widened and she wrapped her arms around her,"Shh, sweetheart. I know, I know. I'm so sorry."
"I just can't believe that I got so angry with you and you were passed out on the side of the road with no one there for you." She sobbed into her,"I'm so sorry Mia. I shouldn't have been so angry."
Mia gently gripped her chin and made her look at her,"Charlotte, you had every right to be angry with me. With what you knew, it seemed like I was being unfaithful to you. That's worth getting angry and upset about."
"I'm still sorry, I really am."
"Baby, it's alright. You don't need to be sorry at all. " Mia held Charlotte close to her body,"Shh, sweet girl. Nobody is upset with you. In fact I think everyone here is a little upset with me." She chuckles a bit, just trying to find the light in the situation. They thank Marjorie and Reese and any and all of their help during the night and they leave shortly after.
Mia is still content just holding Charlotte close. She was afraid to let go. "Charlotte, I'm going to call my boss in the morning and let them know I won't be coming back due to this." She looks down at her, gently brushing her hand across Charlotte's cheek.
She sighed with contentment as she allowed Mia's comfort and warmth overwhelm her senses, "Mia. I love you so much."
"Oh my sweetheart, I love you with all of my heart. And I hope you know I would never do anything to hurt you." Mia leaned down to kiss Charlotte's forehead but Charlotte moved so they were kissing each other's lips. She needed to feel Mia all around her. A familiar hum filled her tummy as she finally felt safe again. "My love, it's late. Can I tuck you into bed? There's someone else I need to go and talk with upstairs."
Charlotte was confused at first until she realized she was talking about Renee,"Be gentle with her, Mia. She's hurting."
"I know, Sweetheart. I'm not upset with her." Mia picked Charlotte up in her arms and carried her up the stairs, careful not to bump into the wall. She gave Charlotte a soft gentle kiss before offering to give her one of her night shirts she had worn when she was gone. She accepted happily and was back to that cute little smile she always wore when Mia was around. While she was so happy she was home, the circumstances really sucked.
Mia walked down the hall to Renee's room and knocked on it, before opening the door and walking inside. She could see Renee was upset and curled up into a ball of tears on her bed. Even though she was a 13 year old now, Mia had never seen her look so small. She quietly walked over to the bed,"Renee, can I talk with you?"
Renee sat up, she was still hot with anger,"How could you?" She cried softly. "Mommy? How could you do that to us?"
Mia froze. Ellie had always called her mommy and Renee called her mom. She wasn't used to mommy coming from Ren, but it made her break even further knowing why she was using it.
"Renee, my sweet girl. I would never cheat on your mother. This was all a big misunderstanding. I trusted someone I shouldn't have and when I went to the bathroom, my drink had been roofied and I had no idea. They really wanted to have aex with me and I wasn't interested at all so they figured a little drugging should do the trick." She sighed, it was a painful memory at the moment. "From the time in the bar to the car, I was fighting them off because I love your mother and don't want anyone else like that. She was trying to take advantage of me and stole my phone. I happened to jump out of the car and found a bench to lay down on. Reese found me a few hours later and here we are now."
Renee was quiet for a little while before she wipes her eyes and looks at Mia,"So none of it was true?"
"Unfortunately it was true but none of it was my wish. I did everything I could to end it before it got too bad."
"So you're still gonna be my mom?"
"Renee, I'll always be your mom as long as you'll have me."
Mia was hesitant to make the first move but could tell the girl needed a hug desperately. She scooched closer to Renee and opened her arms. She held her for as long as Renee needed.
Charlotte was very confused the next morning when she woke up alone, but felt such a relief when she found Mia and Renee snuggled up in her bed. She was glad that they had made up. She woke up Ellie and brought her into Renee's room and spent the morning cuddling all together.
"I love you my sweet girls."
