Chapter One

"Our mistakes are here to learn from, not to avoid."

Simon stood still as he watched countless wizards and witches board the platform, smiling, laughing, and some even getting in a much needed physical contact after seemingly months of being apart. He, however, could only stand rigidly in his spot as his mother's cold hand traveled from his back, nails scratching against it to curve around towards his stomach, pulling him closer to her than before. Peter had already been taught not to intervene and so, the male had simply stood right next to them, biting his lower lip and waiting for his mother to release his younger brother, whenever that may be.

The coldness of his mother's hand on his warm skin was enough to cause his legs to tremble. The feeling of sharpness slowly digging into his flesh was as hot as lava yet Simon couldn't necessarily scream, not when so many people were watching. What was a few minutes felt like an entire year as Simon was soon released and his mother had stood up to her full height, staring the twins down before glancing towards the right where another young woman stood, her sister was calm and although Edin would have liked to stay and chew out the friends her son stayed with for the past two years, she figured that it would waste her time and instead, walked away from the trio just as a loud thud surfaced in the ears of Peter who was busy trying to seem invisible.

"Peter!"

The brown-haired boy peered at the three boys who had thrown themselves on the floor. Sirius was on the bottom, holding himself up like a table while James sat on his back as if he was a chair and Remus had been barreled into them, landing sprawled against James who had begun to use him as a desk by placing his elbows on his back. Peter could only tilt his head to the side, blue eyes narrowed in confusion as he peered to the right and then the left before finally kicking Sirius in the side causing the whole trio to collapse on the ground.

"You're going to scar my poor brother with your furniture bodies."

James leaped to his feet, stepping on Sirius's hands either by accident or on purpose, Peter couldn't really tell as Sirius pulled the black haired boy back by his collar, digging his own shoes into James's feet as payback. As the two third years argued amongst themselves, Remus brushed off the dirt that was on him, gave a sheepish smile to his friend and his friend's family before shaking his head a bit, making his hair more messier than usual.

"Sorry about that, Sirius claimed we had to do a great entrance and James was agreeing in a heartbeat. Anyways, How have you guys been? Your mother wasn't that harsh right?"

Between his still arguing friends and Remus's concerned hazel eyes, Peter could only give a half-hearted shrug. He hadn't received any lectures or questions when he came back home but he couldn't say the same for Simon, who had inched behind him when the three marauders came into view, peeking out from his mop of brown hair at Remus as if he was a stranger. Allowing his brother to hide behind him, Peter mulled over his thoughts before picking the ones that seemed more likely to hear from him, he couldn't have Remus worry over anything after all.

"She was fine, No need to worry." Peter's eyes trailed towards the arguing pair only to notice that they had stopped their pointless banter in favor of slinging their arms over Remus's shoulder and grinning at him as if they weren't just screaming at each other. The fourth marauder could only blink before nudging Simon forward, trying to ignore the tedious squeals of fear that slipped past his lips.

"Guys, have you met my brother?"

The first to reply was James, pushing his glasses up his nose and blinking owlishly at the pair of twins. Peter had lost weight over the months, courtesy of his Mother, and although he wasn't nearly as skinny as his younger brother, James could hardly tell the difference, taking off his glasses and rubbing his eyes heavily didn't do the trick nor did cleaning them or waving his hand in front of his eyes. Gulping softly, The Gryffindor looked back and forth between the two twins for a few minutes before finally managing to squeak out.

"So, the carbon copy of you I've been seeing around school is not your evil clone bent on destroying Hogwarts?"'

"James, where do you even get these things from? Has Remus been giving you too many books to read?"

Remus cleared his throat at the playful accusation and waved his hands towards James as if he was signing him off to Sirius and Peter for the day. He scrunched up his nose, held his head high as if he was a spoiled brat and then gave a dignified sniff of obvious distaste only to ruin the posh imitation by snorting in laughter, raising his hands to his mouth to try and muffle the laughs bubbling out like a Potion gone wrong. James's face went red and his cheeks puffed out as he placed his hands on them and tried to avoid eye contact which only made Remus laugh harder if it was possible.

Peter could only roll his eyes as he wrapped his around his stomach and shifted so that Simon was in full view of the other three boys. Remus was the first to notice him, almost immediately giving the other boy a welcoming grin as well as putting out his hand to shake. He glanced towards the other boys and decided that introducing them himself was too much of a hassle. Before Remus could get a word in, however, the train whistled loudly causing James to snatch the back of their collars and pull them with him, Peter just managing to grab hold of Simon's wrist as he was dragged along with Remus and Sirius towards the carriages for the third time in a row.

Transfiguration was more of a hobby than a class to the four marauders who sat there. Sirius would occasionally jot something down before deciding that the rest was too boring to hear, Peter kept his eyes and ears peeled for any valuable information, James would much rather be in Potions and Remus simply took notes despite not exactly listening. It seemed that only Simon gave any true care about the class as he jotted down everything that Minerva let slip from her lips, it wasn't until the woman started talking about Animagi that James perked up, shaking his head to clear his sleepiness and leaning forward with wide eyes.

"Now, Animagi are perfectly safe to be in the company of werewolves-"

As Minerva continued on with her explanation, James was bouncing in his seat, biting his lip to try and keep silent but ending up in turning around and deciding that Remus was perfect on releasing his excitement on as he shook him back and forth, squeals of utter joy leaving his lips. It was at this point that Peter was almost glad they were all sitting in the back, watching with amused eyes as Remus tried to calm down a highly joyful James who looked ready to bounce off the walls. As soon as the woman announced class dismissal, James was bouncing around like a possessed kangaroo, jumping up and down and squealing so much that Remus was worried he had lost his voice.

Not waiting for his friends, James bounced his way towards the library, bumping into walls and other people as if he was playing some maze game. Remus blinked ever so slowly before looking towards the trio who stood behind him. Peter yawned behind his hand, blue eyes glinting as he pulled his brother forward and gave another shrug.

"Might as well follow him."

Sirius simply nodded, too curious about what caused James's excitement to ever understand why Remus was following them with an equally red and confused face. As Peter threw open the library doors, he caught sight of James waving them over excitedly and stepped forward, pulling the silent Simon along with him. Once all three marauders, plus a small boy, was in front of him, James started jumping up and down again.

"Guys! I have the perfect adventure for us!"

The three Gryffindors, minus a Ravenclaw, looked at each other with confusion before Peter cleared his throat and tilted his head to the side.

"Does it involve why you're squealing and jumping like a chipmunk?"

James rolled his eyes before pulling out a book that was discarded on the shelf and dumping it on the table coughing at the amount of dust that rose.

"We're becoming Animagus!"
