Chapter 78: Taylor's Gambit
Everyone heard Taylor's yells. De:Void Easel had his body blown back constantly.
"Volans Art," spinning rapidly, "Jet Spiral!"
He dashed through the sky, hitting and flying around with every attempt to knock her down, but the sea of minions in his way weakened any chances to overpower her.
"Monster!" Her foot struck him to the sky, spinning around to hack and slash his body numerous times. "You took my family, my food, my freedom!"
Taylor got whacked by his tail during his attempt to transform his Volans Jet into an aquatic shield, pulled in and strangled.
"Get off," growling, "of me!" He launched two fishes the size of their length that got swallowed immediately by her, now getting trapped in a water bubble and prison, having his own magic and water spelled sucked at the same time.
Ainsley croaked. "Taylor, get out of there!"
They watched him get kneed into the chest and flown into a building, wounded by the world's audience spotting him falling to protect his people. Her torrent spell forced the queen to shield him from wrath, even as Proxim dropped a wide metal shaped wing to crush Austrina inside.
She refused to let the weight of not being able to protect her child, recalling Sehki mentioned a mother different, yet, somehow similar to Sybil's personality.
"Stay away from my son! Septans Art: Constricting Force!" She emitted the shape of sowing needles through the water at piercing speeds to stab holes in the steels, letting her model throw her out of the way and submerge the water, molding it into a whirlpool.
"Septans Arts: Maelstrom Drill!"
Austrina dropped and spiraled the large volume of water into a massive drill gyrating and smashing Proxim's armor, who tanked it as the attack dragged them to Taylor's body. They got back up, converting their defensive power to hold back Austrina's powerful spell.
"Good evening Prince Taylor," picking him up, building a metal shield from Easel's attacks, and bashed his head against them. "You probably have so many questions right now."
"Why should I talk to you, villain? You worked with Lumin and harmed my babes!"
"Me? Villain?" They elbowed him into the shield, kneed him into the chest, and pounded his back, leaving him floating helpless on the seafloor from the heavy blows. "How conceited."
Taylor's aggressive trident swing couldn't even dent his armor, leaving him shouting and trying to punch Proxim, who caught his hand, quickly squeezing out his drive.
"You played quite the part last year according to my dear Luminite. You performed admirably."
"He used me and turned you into a monster!"
"Pity, because that was you as your pinnacle," kneeling down to him in the water. "Your own father has so many wives as candidates, even though your mother wasn't even born of royalty."
"And?" Proxim caught his attempts to make a veil around him and smashed his head in the water.
"She was so complacent in finally achieving what she wanted after starting from nothing, she forgot to ever instill that same worth ethic. In fact, had it not been for the Shakuheld Incident, your dad would've replaced you with any number of your adopted brothers and sisters."
"That's a lie," kicking up a stream of fish, which Proxim laughed at.
"Austrina saw it as an opportunity to show your father you had the initiative to play hero. But you never fought any real villains: just the ones your parents claimed as the real ones," lifting him up to face Easel.
"Had you used your power to fight the Voids oh so long ago, you could've saved her. Now your ex-harem is running around having to clear up your mess."
As they talked, Lorena swung, stretched, bounded, retracted, and maneuvered to reach the underwater prisons, using her pass and recording of Austrina's words to eventually find the duo of people who were barely force fed enough to survive. Taking a hold of food Sehki planned to eat from the festival, she fed and massaged their malnourished bodies, catching them up to speed.
"Easel's alive?"
"Please, take us to her!"
"Hop on."
Back between the bridge, Easel consumed Taylor's magic so much he sent a school of fish to clog up her mouth by accident, earning Proxim's laughter, staring at him face to metallic mask.
"In fact, out of the five heirs, you've always been the weakest!"
"Sehki!"
"I'm coming," hearing Austrina's pleas to stop Easel, summoning the beast to feast off the DeVoid as the two attempted to absorb and devour the other with Ainsley offering defense against the horde.
"They had their hurdles and jumped through them, yet the Switches were the only way you could bridge the gap. The real joke was you ever comparing yourself to Hinata or Bezek."
"Shut up!"
Taylor noticed a Switch in their hands, calling out Volans Shield to cover them both and weave the water to snatch it out of his hands.
He huffed, hyperventilating from the memory of being trapped in the void of his own creation, but spotting everyone else doing what he could not, his eyes glared at Proxim.
"If I'm this weak," acknowledge his fellow heir's training had a point, "then tell Lumin I'll use this same power to beat you!"
Lorena, Sehki, Ainsley, and Delphine watched as he tapped the switch, as the Volans constellation marks grew around his body, turning his aura from blue to a gray-void mix, pouring all of his frustration and anger into it.
He unleashed a visceral scream, attempting to hold back the corruption. His allies and the queen, lackadaisical and serious about his crimes, all grew concerned the power would nibble at his psyche like it did a year ago.
He held his hands against his forehead as his mass, limbs, and power got augmented, to the point he grew to become a hybrid of his fae and De:Void self, amusing Proxim with the results.
"I will not become a villain!"
