Chapter 65: Astral Academy (Completed/New Chapter)
The Astral Academy buildings felt less like a campus and more like a series of mansions and laboratories, as Sehki watched people their age work on magic spells, curing poisoned animals, and students even experimenting on each other.
"Candy, Bodin, Sven, Bella, y'all considered going here?"
"As if," the boys said. "Like I care about science and nature like that."
"It brings back bad memories," Bella admitted. "But that's in the past now," picking herself and bouncing around the room.
Bodin saw Candy reflecting back to their time spent as a teen, revealing to the others she volunteered when she was younger....against her experience, spotting some upperclassmen who past them, eventually noticing her.
"Hey, that's the girl who robbed us of an A back in freshman year!"
"They did what?"
The four seniors' egotistical nature dropped from Sehki, Ainsley, and Bodin having to put themselves between them and Cree's wrath. But her brother saw her walk up his staff, an inch from the ceiling.
"Please, leave me alone. I'd hate to have to freeze you solid as well," slowly walking down, asking her friends to let it go and move on. Bodin coated herself in his arms.
"Thanks for helping me back then."
"We made it to Celestial together, didn't we."
Sehki's heart melted.
"Wish you here so stuff like that couldn't happen," Lorena asked.
"Obviously."
"That's why I didn't attend. My whole existence could be put in jeopardy. Everyone wants to impress mom and dad to get a promotion. It's disgusting," turning to Candy.
"I'm sorry," bowing to her. "If I could go back in time," realizing they did something similar to her as well, "I'd never do it in the first place."
Candy shook her head, lifting theirs up.
"Will you make that part of your plan as Lord?"
"First thing will be changing their wretched policy."
They eventually showed the Celestial University students their living quarters for the week. Everyone else but Ainsley and the Brawlers went to their respective rooms, who began theorizing, but Sehki asked his fellow heir to coat the room, so no one could hear or get in.
"So Fari woke up as Gorgon was released from prison. That can't be a coincidence."
Wali agreed with Lorena's assessment, trying to think of a pattern.
"Maybe it has something to do with the Horrorscopes: all three were tied to Celestial. Maybe she's trying to become number four."
Sehli gasped. "Or...making Fari and the Nuckelherd numbers four through seven. Ainsley, what can you remember about that time?"
"My guess: they were using anyone with unique variations of a constellation to further medical research or finalize my completion, so she escaped with her own power."
"Anyone who can get stronger through eating grass and has a speed based pavement generation would make her a good candidate to me."
"But how would she get to become one," Cree asked. "All Luminite told Sehki was that he consumed Voids that had enough Leo energy to do so."
Ainsley seemingly worked it out. "Gorgon's going to collect and petrify anyone with the Zodiac they need while Fari's a distraction to unleash more Voids from the chaos. We can't let them separate or my old professor's going to get what she needs: Fari's evolution."
"Fine, here's the plan."
Throughout the week both groups came up with a plan: Cree and Bella would lead the school for the competition hoverboard tournament, Lorena and Sven would be in the more commence towns, Sehki and Wali would make themselves sitting ducks.
Meanwhile Ainsley, Candy and Bodin would initially go with their father. Anyone mad at experimentation would go directly for the source.
Paluen and Dango noticed they were all planning something.
"I'll take on the Voids, you handle Gorgon?"
"Sure," seeming sour.
"If this is so personal to you, act on it. You're a member of the Rising Twelve. Or we can switch roles. Besides, I want to find all the secrets of the world's problems."
Cree ended up teaching Bella how to ride the board, throughout the week for the tournament while Candy ended up meeting some kids who saw her.
"You're the one who fought those people who attacked Celestial. Can I have your autograph?"
She ended up signing, faking a smile while recounting the same block where the same guys who tried to snatch her DNA saw her dress she was creating, knocking it down and laughing.
"No one will ever want someone like you to design anything! Not even the weird prince obsessed with art or something!"
All she remembered was swinging and mixing earth magic and Ursa Minor to escape, picking up her dress and running off, freezing her tears. In the present, she held back her tears.
"Are you crying miss?"
"No," shaking her head. "I just don't want anyone else born in Telus to suffer," nudging their heads away.
On the day of the tournament, Sehki and Wali paraded around the streets to mixed reception.
"Divine Disgrace and Concealed Celestial. Yup, should've seen that coming."
"Keep your guard up," hearing an explosion. The two of them rushed to see a crater in the town sphere; Fari, with an orange spectral glow around herself, while people fled from the rage of her malice, summoning more Voids.
"Fari! I get it! Wanting to tear down the society that treated you like a lab rat. All I'm saying is it's a wasted opportunity to not go on tv and publicly expose their crimes: you are a survivor."
"Of what? Being born? Being tortured for having rare powers? Being branded as a criminal, monster, for trying to roam this world free from everyone who wronged us?"
She pulled out a switch, letting the horse constellation glow and expand across her body. A multitude of platforms generated to her will, acquiring more hair that turned her face into something resembling an anthropomorphic horse, doubling the number of limbs.
"A DeVoid?"
I'll destroy this whole kingdom with you in it!"
