Chapter 56: Wali Leontis
Wali did his best to explain to Sehki, complete with changing into the appearance of every person that was talking.
"I don't get why she said to tell you like this directly, but I can't ignore the tears of my own protege. Without her, neither of us would be here now."
"You remember her trying to keep you from transforming?"
"Your power wasn't yet completed, so her and Delta took the steps to have the magic reduce it while I tried to do my best to act as you whenever the corruption's influence spread."
"But the time span grew shorter and shorter. Still the portals were able to send you to another world, correct?"
"Yeah," going into all his experiences back on Earth.
"Eight years? Back then, us reuniting as fae felt impossible. With the amount of Starlight, we could amass allowed us to hop from country to country at best," hearing knocking at the door.
"Tell me more later."
"No!" He grabbed his cousin, apologizing. "I mean, stay a little more. You're the only family member I have that's not dead or missing."
"Sure, I'll tell you everything you should know."
The door opened to Lorena walking in with bandages across her arms, Cree and Candy, and Admiral Mechion.
"You're up."
"Lore, are you-"
"Pyralis wasn't that hot to handle. Still got more training to do," coughing.
"You guys beat the Nuckelherd? Awesome, I was so worried."
"It was pretty close," Cree admitted. "Fari ran out of horsepower before her last resort."
"She broke my Callisto's Dress," Candy pouted. "I can't get left behind."
"That's why Wali's here. He's going to be your additional mentor and acting General Studies tutor while Delta's out."
"Wait, he's not enrolling as a student? No adjustment period?"
"I'll leave that to you all, given both of your lack of home, he has nowhere to go."
"Thank you again, Admiral Mechion."
"What's Delta going to be doing?"
Admiral Mechion's phone rang. "Yes? Sigh, fine, I'll put you on the line, bring Delta with you."
"Good morning my prince, teammates," said a coy voice came through the phone.
All of the Shadow Brawlers "Calypsa?"
"Missed me? Don't worry, I've been keeping tabs on all of you. Though Sehki, what did I say about not letting anyone else break you?"
"I was ambushed."
"She's right! You should not have left your guard open like that! Your father was much more strategic than that."
He shuddered like a puppy. "Yes sir."
Calypsa laughed. "You're so cute when you're struggling, but good job, you reduced the number of casualties. Candy, I might have a twisted idea. There's someone you've been thinking about taking lessons from, hasn't there?"
Flustered, she nodded. "I was thinking of asking Professor Spica."
Cree raised his hand. "Akilah also offered to train me."
Admiral's head bobbed. "I approve. The First Spouses all have their reasons for offering this position. This allows us to keep an eye on them."
"Even me and Austrina?"
"Just go back to being your own self around her," Calypsa claimed. "Besides, Austrina's incompetent, she'll slip out something."
"Well, Jia seems nice. Even though she left the school early."
"Sehki, be careful around her."
Wali pondered. "She and her child were also infected, same as me. Which means we have to be careful not to stress her out."
"Can't I heal her?"
"No, she has her means. Jun had all this time to do something and she's said nothing about it. But finding Qian might be the key."
"But how, no one's been able to find their body."
"There might be a way. I know a technique that might work but it'll be hard to execute. But Sehki, I'll have to teach it to you since you re-awakened the Zodiac constellations in the sky. But we'll need a Hinata involved."
"I'll ask Xia. So Admiral, now can I get my phone to use?"
"One call a week for personal time only," much to Calypsa's chagrin.
"Fine. Speaking of which, Wali, introduce yourself to your new team."
"Right," flickering back to Candy, Lorena, and Cree. "Thank you for taking care of my naive cousin," offering his hand and asking their relation to him.
"Candy Uyocron, Erebu's Architect. Thanks for saving my friend."
"The ones who made the new sculptures. You've got quite a gift."
"Lorena Sanchez, Erebus' Brainpower. And Sehki's girlfriend."
"Huh?" His eyes met Calypsa. "Didn't you say you would make her a queen?"
Flustered, he gulped. "I did?"
"Right," facepalming. "I will never understand how you could invite her to stay in Umbra, forever, help her control her Void state, cook with her and promise to race in the Mightatholon together for six years and still recognize that."
"Wali, shush!"
"You know Sybil will have my head if he starts acting like King Dryad under our watch."
Lorena snickered. "It's only polyamory with her and I. He's the only one that can deal with Calypsa, and our arrangement is to clear his name."
"That loyal?"
"Absolutely: I won't break either of their hearts."
"Admirable," offering his hand to Cree. "We've met before, haven't we?"
"You were with the force from Kesh's attack."
"My foolish brother - ah! You were the brave soul who provided us with an opening. Calypsa trained you well, it seems."
"It's helped, but," considering his last four fights, "I've still got a way to go."
"Hey, Calypsa, um, Delta, the heirs."
"Don't worry, Auntie's paying her dues making them ready. You'll see them soon."
Can't forget. "I have an idea who Proxim might- is it possible Solomon is," interrupted by her laughter.
"As if! He's actually-"
"Confidental, Castor!"
"-not, someone," annoyed, "who'll let anyone destroy the world. Wali, watch over them for me."
"Never thought I'd be taking orders from you."
"And Sehki?"
"Yeah?"
"Love you," blowing him a kiss, not hearing a response. 'Are you-"
"Love it too, Cal-fusion," snickering and hanging up.
"Jerk," blushing.
