Chapter 47: Akaliah's Decision! Cree or Cassie?
Hearing about Sehki and Lorena's situations, Cree's seriousness started to take over his usual demeanor. He kept a close eye on the Rising Twelve members in his class: Meng, Hyuga, and Bao, while making sure Cassie wouldn't try anything.
Professor Tenma's slower movements prompted Queen Akilah to support him, trying to alert his students it would heal eventually.
As the two turned to get some supplies, Cree's head jerked, dragging back a field of wind to block blades heading for both of them as Cassie's hands were aimed like guns at their professors.
Akilah sidestepped, spun, cranked her arms, and twirled away from each of Cassie's attacks, catching them all with grace and a bow, where no one could see touch her gauntlet.
Dragon Cushion!
Akilah weaved a massive draft with a backhand that countered the attack and lifted the entire class out of their seats, turning back with grace.
"So, class, whether you have Fixed, Cardinal, or Mutable signs, it's important to improve your control as the fae with the most potential for flight," as Tenma activated her machine to release the same out. See how far you could rise from your base position."
First time I've seen someone stop and use an assassination attempt as a teaching method, Cree thought, nodding with respect while the rest of the students cheered, aiming his staff at Cassie just in case.
Later, Cree honored his unofficial agreement to train the Sky Squadron at the Apus Challenge when from the window, he saw Cassie following Akilah out of the Nataraja Dance Center: heading towards the Phanion Center.
As Akilah closed the doors to her new office, Cree blew stormy spitballs from his staff before Cassie could strike, pelting her away.
"Sneak attacks don't really scream strong and powerful," weaving from the ensuing rain and her avoided stomps to his body. Even as her feet dragged through the walls, Cree rolled and pushed her airborne.
The two threw, spun, aimed for kicks, forming and thrusting their respective weapons in place. Faced against the Malora's Cast, Cree aimed to freeze them down, but she managed some control of them, conjuring an entire hailstorm after him.
Cree did his best to keep the target and parkour through the halls outside from what looked like a young man running from a meteor storm on the rings of Saturn itself.
Cassie dive bombed him, collecting two frozen hair pieces. He wrapped wind around his staff to joust against her, the skill to her strength, even ducking and twirling it across his back to orbit her own debris back at herself, throwing her airborne.
"Fine," hovering. "That's how you wanna play," turning to the gym and rerouting all of her hair around her to the Marshed into a giant spear. "Wind Razor!"
She fired it, forcing him to fly over and mix his powers to use the frozen head of a large bear as a flail to hold it back, only for Cassie to descend from above and crash him into the ground, making him drop his spear.
Cassie reached for a chokehold, resulting in him activating his Ursa Major StellArt to freeze her. However, she widened and hardened all the fur around her into sharp blades to press and break through the ice, preventing him from escaping as Akilah approached them.
"Fine, if you don't want to work with me, then Queen, let's make a deal! He probably trained shadow boy to beat up your son! You could take us both out, or," giving her the floor.
"We both benefit from eliminating a mutual target, correct? Have it your way."
Worried, Cree tried to throw Cassie off, who rode him like a cowgirl, refusing to let him escape as Akilah widened her gauntlet, concentrating a giant ball of energy as the device transformed into the shape of a dragon, inserting a familiar orb.
"Target locked, aim, fire."
She shot a giant force of wind in the shape of a dragon heading straight for Cree. Cassie's killer grin was ready to help her elation to help her endure the powerful surge of magic when a portal took the blast for them, while two portals appeared above both students.
Both spat out a funnel strong enough to strip Cassie's hold off of him. The sound of a boom above them both as the wind blew Cree's staff and left her grin breaking into terror and confusion of the aura from the outline of an electrical dragon descending towards them.
Aquarius, Draco, Combination!
"Let lightning silence your madness tonight! Dragonic Thunderclap!"
With a swing of her hand, a yellow dragon slammed through the funnel around Cassie's, frying her control of the situation into nothing as her white defenses barely conducted the force of the massive blast around her while the impact shattered Cree's in a fraction of a second.
The spell ended with Cassie on all fours, with sparks around her body, struggling to lift her head up in rage.
"You lying nymph!"
"I said we'd both benefit from eliminating a mutual target, correct? I never stated he was the target."
Cassie punched the ground to get up, all set to launch a storm of her hair follicles when Fari picked her up.
"You've suffered enough damage for one day," shutting down her claims of remaining stamina. " We'll get the queen one day and Cree, we know your weakness," kicking dust before fleeing.
Cree turned to her as it settled, rightfully confused.
"You assume my involvement is strange given your previous encounters with my family."
He almost set up a barrier but paused.
"Despite that, you trained Sehki to not only defeat him, but face his childhood demons."
"Ones that you and your husband enacted. Why are you here?"
"For you."
The older woman's words befuddled him.
"Come to my Office Hours Monday. Not only will I make you stronger, I'll answer all your questions," walking away. "Watch your back around the Saiban students."
