Chapter 30: Serpent's Drive
Ophichus flew at Sehki, eating and flying him away from the blast. He watched his manifestation take his unsubconscious wishes, protecting and flying away.
"Thanks," thinking deep. Maybe Ophichus wasn't just the shadow observing the rest of the Zodiacs, but the spirit of its users protecting themselves?
Or the person watching our backs everyone wishes they had.
"Whatever you are, I won't let your efforts be in vain."
His surroundings shook like a nod, stretching his arms wide. They flew as one, swerving from the volley of gigantic yellow balls launched at their direction, diving underneath it's swinging limbs.
"Nemean, Eclipse Enlightenment!"
Sehki focused on the lion's shadow, jumping off and separated from his spiritual teammate, making it split between who to target, while earning Lumin's focus.
He charged at his principal, flipping over the lemon rays, skating past the swift raining spears, rising up a self made dark wave above the light stream from his fists, and slamming the ground for a makeshift sewn golem to defend himself.
Lumin's fist matched the blinding speed of his feet, dragging it through the ground with flame mixing with an aura powered uppercut blowing Sehki upwards.
He took the lion's shadow, and hurled it back at Nemean, forcing them to smack into it. They attempted to beat through their gray counterpart, allowing Ophichus's wildly tail to vertically slam into the lion's throat.
He ran up the giant winged serpent, forming an elemental claw to punch it only to barely graze it as it opened its mouth.
"The brighter your wicked light, the darker my shadow casts!"
A perfect distraction for the snake's head to break the air and slam its head, blasting Nemean towards Lumin while it coiled itself around the lion.
With the expanded reflection of the one creature performing a spinning piledriver on the other, he gilded off the snake, raising a sea of shadows made of the lion's, Ophiuchus', and the ground, aiming for Lumin's head and torso.
"Ophiuchus StellArt: Necrosis Typhoon!"
The sea spun into a tornado from the ground and sky, ripping into a hail storm of gloomy shaped spears, punches, and kicks aimed from all directions.
Lumin instinctively hurled white rays from throwing his arms out to fight back against the vortex of limbs continuously striking them for each one shot down, as quicker hits snuck through to hit his vitals.
Sehki tightened his concentration as his powerset and Lumin's magic pummeled each other, garnering a headache while his tendril kicked up Cree's pole from far away to his hands.
The principal absorbed Nemean, raising his fits and allowing himself to tolerate strike after strike, charging up a giant meteor like before.
"Face the Cluster of your species' inferiority! Corona Cannon!!"
Ophichus threw itself down to take the blast. Sehki surfed inside the shade, accelerating with a stream by gathering all of his Zodiac's spirits remaining energy into his body and around his air mentor's pole.
"Your pandemic of painful misery ends here!"
Candy, Lorena, Cree, and Calypsa crossed his mind as he constructed a giant purple-black javelin.
"Erebus Paladin Buster!"
He slammed into the meteor of light, gritting against the burning, blinding ball of ballistic power, tearing off his shirt sleeves and muscle tolerance. Despite what seemed like a stalemate, Sehki burst a hole through it, smoldering as he charged at the Horrorscope.
The wicked Astrovoid leader summoned a blade of light to try and do the same, blocking his attack. He flicked up the shadow of the striking pole, jamming the mirrored staff into Lumin's left arm.
He trembled, triggered, tensed, and bewildered: and Sehki's dual strike blew up Cluster's hand, twisting the pole into Lumin's chest, propelling him all the way into the Sun of Awakening.
Cree's pole became the only thing able to keep him standing as Ophichus covered only about the size of a house ceiling, sweating and relieved.
"Is it over," the female reporter asked as the helicopter swooped down. He was ready to say yes, when Lumin dragged, flailing his entire upper body, crawling on all fours as his skin remained in his Void state, heavily depleted.
He pulled out a switch, pressing it as he was empowered with more Void essence, what sounded like his bones cracked until he was able to properly stand.
"Enough, Luminite. Luster. Cluster. Horrorscope Leo, you're done."
"I," bitting his lips, "won't rest until I send your soul to meet your patronizing parents. Your bloodline is done reducing our progress!"
He merged and split his hands apart, conjecting a blade of light. Sehki did his best to prepare but a body was impaled.
Lumin looked down at the staff that penetrated and pierced through his body, belching in disgust and pain while the culprit twisted it inside his body, holding another figure, and their assistant ensured the staff stuck in place from behind.
"Twin? What is this mutiny?"
Sehki tried shaking off his stun to reach for his neck and arms to pull Lumin's arms away from touching, as Twin Dust glared.
"Strength decides this world's future. You tried playing the king, now the queen's in command. Auntie!"
He saw two portals behind the hands while the Regal Void was stuck in place. Ram ripped out one of their horn blades out, stabbing Lumin for more measure.
"Shakuheld, absorb all of our essence," infusing him with more energy, "and strike us with your next attack."
"But-"
"Re-lax, Me-hki," Twin said, pulling up their hoods to reveal a smile, "It'll work out."
The light bulb clicked with Sehki. Releasing his shadow, he channeled the fire, water, wind, earth, and darkness elements into an arm cannon around both his hands.
Targeting Horrorscope Leo's shadow as he bombarded Ram and Twin in vain attempts to escape, Sehki shot a blade with the serpent's fangs, masticating all four of their shadows together, but the volume of their leader's defiance was drowning out his efforts.
