Return to Astrolic

The next day, the guard had been placed back in the woods as if he never left that spot. He slept peacefully until slowly beginning to wake up, wondering if he dreamt up the cell. He groggily looked around as he stretched and yawned. After that, he stood up and went to continue his task of finding Xavier.

The Psynergens all glared at the human guard in distrust as he walked into the territory. "I am only here to collect the prince," He said to the Psynergens. "Nothing more." He said as he noticed Xavier coming over with Reaper, who had placed his helmet back on. Griffin and the tribe leaders were also with him. "We mustn't be late for my father's order's now," Xavier said to the guard. The guard shook his head. "No we mustn't your majesty," He replied. "You and I are to leave at once." He added.

Xavier nodded and walked towards the guard. "Wait," Griffin said to Xavier. "You're going?" He asked. Xavier looked around and nodded. "Yes Griffin, I am." He replied. "There are still things I don't know," He explained. "I must discover those things myself." He added before turning back to the guard and started to walk away but stopped and turned around to see Griffin and Reaper. "I'm going to miss you both," Xavier said.

Griffin and Reaper told him that they would miss him also. "If you need us," Reaper said. "You know what to do." He added. Xavier nodded and then turned to leave with the guard. The Psynergens watched as Xavier and the guard left the realm and slowly began to leave the area to go about their own lives. Soon Griffin was the only one standing there, watching the direction where the two left. He sighed and then turned around, walking back home.

Meanwhile, Xavier and the guard began the travel back to Astrolic. The journey was mainly silent until reaching the kingdom. Something was off now for Xavier, it didn't seem the same after some time away from the Royal life. The people celebrated his return, but it wasn't the same as what he had seen with the Psynergens, feeling rehearsed even.

Not long after returning, Xavier went to his room and watched out his window. Back in the Psynergen realm, there would be individuals coming and going, but in Astrolic, it felt like a ghost town. Something that Xavier had never fully realized until this very moment. Just then his father came into the realm. "I see you managed to survive the savages." The king said. Xavier shook his head and then looked at him. "They're not savages," He said. "They're like us, hurting and frightened." He explained. The king sighed and shook his head.

"Xavier, stop it." He said to him. "Celebrate with the people," His father told him. "It's the way the kingdom functions." He added. Xavier shook his head and then looked out the window again. "Why is it that when I look out there I feel like I'm in a wake of some sort?" He asked. The king simply looked at him. "Because being a ruler requires great sacrifice," He explained. "It's just a shame that it took the death of one of those creatures to show you that." He said before starting to leave.

Xavier shot a suspicious look at his father. "How did you know about the death," He asked, causing the king to pause. "I never said anything to the guard who brought me here," Xavier said. "The only ones who do know are me and the Psynergens," He explained. "So why do you know about that?" He asked. The king looked at his son. "The guard said there were signs of mourning," The king answered. "Wouldn't make sense to mourn the living now would it?" He said. "I suppose not," Xavier said as he looked back out the window.

Meanwhile, Griffin was back in Reapers' castle with the tribe leaders. "Any idea of why Reaper wanted us here?" Griffin asked. Hali and Delia shook their heads. "This is not a common occurrence for all of the tribes to be summoned together," Delia said. Bronte stepped up. "She's right," He added. "Whatever's going in it's something big." He added. Everyone else nodded in agreement.

Than and Cephas scoffed. "Well Xavier did leave the realm," Than said. "He was supposed to be the one thing that brought back our place in Astrolic." He added. "His mind is poisoned by his humanity," Cephas said. "He's more of a threat to us than anything." He added. Alina looked at them. "You saw what he can do," She said to the group. "Xavier trained with us and wants to help us, not destroy us." She added.

"Plus, if he wanted to kill us," Hestia said to the group. "He would've done it when he got here or his magic." She added. This caused an argument between the group before a massive flash of lightning shined throughout the room. "Enough!" A voice shouted. The group turned with confused expressions with who they saw. "Xavier?" Griffin asked. Xavier looked at him and nodded as he walked over. "If you're here," Hestia said, confused. "Who just went to Astrolic?" She asked.

Back in Astrolic, the man who looked after Xavier came into the room and smiled. The boy looked at the man and smiled at him. "Thank you for keeping an eye on him." The boy said. The man nodded and transformed into a Psynergen form. "It's good to see you again, Prince Duncan." He replied. "It's good to see you again as well," Duncan said.

After explaining the situation back at the Psynergen realm, everyone looked surprised. "Reaper was Duncan this entire time," Griffin said in surprise. "Your twin brother you mentioned." He said. Xavier nodded. "He told me everything last night after he showed me his face," He said. "And with us as twins," He explained. "The kingdom will not know that we have switched places." He added. "I called you all here because I will need all of your help getting back into Astrolic," Xavier said. "It's time to bring the Psynergens back to their rightful home." He added.

Later that day, two guards were standing by the entrance to Astrolic. To keep themselves from becoming too bored, the two guards engaged in conversation. As they talked they noticed a bit of a misty fog emerging, nothing out of the ordinary to the guards. This was at least until the fog went to them and started becoming too thick to even see each other. The two could hear footsteps and get prepared to fight. As the fog cleared again, no one was around except for the guards. "Must be hearing things." One of the guards said as the two went back to watching.

Somewhere behind them, Xavier had managed to sneak by with the Psynergens, who were disguised in their human forms. Xavier led them through the secret entrances since he knew them well. Along the way, the group discovered something that Xavier didn't count on, one of the other guards was in their quarters. The guard wasn't in uniform so it was clear that his day hadn't fully started yet. He seemed to be trying to wake himself up before he could get ready.

Xavier then got an idea "Than, I need you to darken the guard's vision," He said. "That way he can't see us pass by." He added. Than nodded and created a shadowy effect around them, making them invisible to the guard. Xavier then walked past the guard with everyone behind him. The guard was the last to pass as he shielded his eyes from the shadowy light. "What the?" He asked, looking around. By the time he opened his eyes, Xavier and the group were already gone.

Than started to think Xavier was impressed by his magic before they reached the first room. Xavier then opened the door to the room before they all walked through. The room was a huge winery, guess inventory changed some since Xavier left. "This didn't use to be here," Xavier said, looking around. They're a bunch of different wines in the room and another batch was being created. Xavier then got an idea, but he needed to find Duncan first. "Stay here," He told the group. "And whatever you do, stay in your human form." He said before walking off.

Xavier went through the dungeon until reaching a secret place he and Duncan would go to all the time as kids. "Duncan," Xavier whispered. "Are you in here?" He asked. Duncan appeared and walked over to him. "I was hoping you still remembered this spot," Duncan said to Xavier. Xavier looked at him and nodded. "The one spot our father couldn't find us." He said.

Meanwhile, the Psynergens were waiting in the winery for Duncan and Xavier. Neander was sitting on a chair, looking at Hestia for a while. He then stood up and walked over to her. "Can you come with me please," He asked. "There's something you should know." He added. Hestia was a bit hesitant but followed him to another part of the winery.

"What's up?" Hestia asked. Neander was a bit hesitant about his next words. "I'm afraid it's about Blaise," He said. "I had foreseen his attack before it happened." He explained. Hestia shook her head. "Tempos' aren't allowed to change the future," She said. "I know." She added. "That's just it," Neander said. "Blaise was never supposed to die that day." He said. Hestia was stunned and looked at him. "What're you talking about?" She asked.

Neander explained that in his vision, Blaise was never struck by The Forbidden's magic. "He was supposed to survive," He explained. "The Forbidden Master must've known of this and changed Blaise's fate." He said. Hestia looked at him with a saddened expression. "What was his original fate?" She asked. Neander nodded. "Blaise would have accessed the fire of the phoenix," He explained. "A great power that can stop the Forbidden Master from taking control of its user." He said. "Unfortunately, Blaise hadn't unlocked that part of his power yet." He added.

Hestia was saddened knowing the truth of Blaise's death. "Thank you for telling me this." She said before hugging Neander with tears in her eyes. "He would have made you and the others proud," Neander said. The two then heard a door open and went back to see that Xavier and Duncan had arrived. "The Forbidden is here," Duncan warned. "I can sense it's magic all over Astrolic." He said.

Griffin looked at them. "We're all who came here," He said pointing to everyone in the room. "We can't possibly take it on." He said. "We can, and we will," Xavier said. "I have a plan, Griffin and Oleander, I'm gonna need your help for what comes first," Xavier said. Griffin nodded. "What do you need us to do?" He asked.

Later in the day, Astrolic was going through its daily routine as the guard's kept watch. Very sneakily, Xavier, Griffin, and Oleander created poppy flowers right beside each of the guards. The poppies appeared in the courtyard, outside the castle walls, the dungeons, and even the guards' own homes. As the guards noticed the poppies and went to smell them, the flowers released a mist towards them.

"You should all return to your quarters right away," Xavier's voice said to all of the guards. "You need your rest." He added. The guards did as they were told. They left their posts and returned to their quarters. Upon arrival, they removed their armor and crawled into their beds. The second they laid down, the guards instantly fell into a deep sleep.

The three met up with the rest of the Psynergens and passed by the sleeping guard's homes. "With the guards," Duncan said. "The Forbidden has no power over this kingdom." He explained. "We will need to face it." He added.

Neander was about to say something when his foresight kicked in. He saw the kingdom in destruction and the group weakened as the Forbidden Master stood over them. Despite his rules, Neander wanted to escape this fate. "He's coming," He told the group. "I just saw him with us," He explained. "And we were losing." He added. Hestia looked at him. "I thought you couldn't interfere with the timeline." She said. "I feel like there's no other option," Neander said to her. "If the Forbidden Master wins," He said. "Our species will be annihilated." He warned.

Just then the sky began to darken with a purple and black color. A storm had emerged as the wind picked up. The group then noticed the king rushing over. "You need to get inside, now!" He shouted. "Xavier, Duncan get away from them!" He ordered as he looked at the Psynergens. Duncan shook his head as he created a fireball. "I don't think so." He said before launching the fireball at his father.

"What are you doing?!" Xavier exclaimed. He then saw the fire turn purple and black as it stopped in front of his father. "I suppose you two would've found out eventually." The king before snapping his fingers, extinguishing the flame. The group watched as the king transformed into his appearance as the Forbidden Master. Xavier looked at him and shook his head in disbelief. He then thought for a minute, his emotions turned to rage. "You were the one who killed our mother," He said. "You tried to kill Duncan years ago."

"That is what you children can't comprehend," The Forbidden Master said to them. "I am the only thing that can end the Psynergen race." He added. "And now it's just you who are standing here who are left." He said as the group felt a massive rush through their bodies.

This pain was worse than before and they knew exactly why. "We left the others unprotected," Griffin said in realization. "They're gone, all of them." He said knowing that the rest of the Psynergens were dead. Duncan and Xavier looked at each other as the rest of the group already believed they had lost the battle. Duncan looked at the Forbidden Master with glowing red eyes as the power of pure darkness emerged from him. Xavier's eyes glowed gold as the power of the pure light emerged from him. The two of them ended up getting armor from their magic and prepared to fight. "It's not over yet," Duncan said. "We're still here," Xavier said to the group. "We can still win this." He added. The others were silent and hesitant.

"I thought my sons would be different from these things," The Forbidden Master said as he generated a small bit of electricity. "Such a disappointment." He added before launching the purple lightning towards them. Another yellow lightning stopped it from hitting the group, it was Bronte. "He's right," Bronte said, holding the lightning the best he could. "We can still beat this guy." He said with the others nodding in agreement.

The group began using their powers together and attacked the Forbidden Master. They fought him off for a while. As the fight went on, the Forbidden Master looked at Hestia, who was filled with rage. "You're the one whos' student I killed," The Forbidden Master said to her. "Tell me, why does that one worthless life matter to you so much?" He asked. "That child wasn't just my student," She said as her fire went from orange to red. "He was my brother!" She shouted before rushing towards him.

Griffin looked to see what Hestia was doing and panicked. "Hestia, don't!" He shouted. Hestia didn't listen, instead, jumping towards the Forbidden Master. Suddenly a sharp pain hit Hestia as she stopped. She looked to see a purple and black crystal on her side. "Hestia!" Griffin shouted. Hestia fell to the ground as the magic from the crystal began spreading like a poison in her veins. She tried to use her powers, but they were already failing her.

As Hestia passed out, she found herself somewhere completely different. Was she dead? She looked around the area to see the Floral Phoenix flowers on the ground. She then saw something else, someone else. The boy came over to Hestia. "Blaise?" She asked with tears in her eyes. "Hey big sis," Blaise said. "You're not giving up are you?" He asked as the fire of the Phoenix glowed brightly in his hand. "Take it." He told her. Hestia looked at the flame, hesitantly. Could this help her?
