Prologue
Space is such a mysterious and beautiful place that no human has yet to completely discover. They all know so little about what is out there in the cosmos and there is so much still yet to be discovered. Yet, humans ask themselves what is out there living among the stars and imagine what it is like living out in space, but they still won't know until they can have the develop the technology to help themselves venture out beyond their own Solar System.
Every day, technology continues to improve around us, making life easier for them to live. Using this newly improved technology to their advantage, they are able to learn more about the world around them. As the time finally came to be, technology has come to its highest peak. With this power in hand, humans were finally able to become the most advanced species on Earth. It was time that this technology was used to learn more about the life around them.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration, commonly known as NASA, are in charge of any expedition that happens out in space. The point of these expeditions is to discover more of the galaxy and try to find life out on other planets. Currently, Flight 24 is on an expedition out in space, heading to a galaxy known as the Magellanic galaxy. This galaxy is home to a small Solar System that is similar to their Solar system, but it contains a smaller number of planets inside of it.
The expedition that Flight 24 is heading out on is to a dwarf planet that they call Rebel 12. The name Rebel 12 is given to this planet because whoever decided to venture near this planet, those people are never heard of again. Previously, there were 23 flights to this planet which contained astronauts who have never come back from their expedition out to Rebel 12. When their flights reached the planet's atmosphere, all communication is lost with NASA and the ship nor are the astronauts ever heard of again. Flight 24 is the last flight that is making its way towards this planet until NASA could come up with some way of discovering the planet without losing people.
Jeremy and Holly are two astronauts who are aboard the Flight 24. These two people are a married couple who have volunteered to go on the last flight to Rebel 12. The two astronauts were looking over the controls in the control room of the ship until a screen flashed on revealing a tall man with a moustache. This person had a very serious look on his face as he stared at the two astronauts who weren't paying attention to the screen. This tan man wore a blue suit that held many badges on it and he stood there, standing straight with his hands behind his back. To get the astronauts attention, he coughed into his hand and watched as the two of them looked over to the screen immediately.
"Good evening, Mr. and Ms. Fernandez. I hope you two are having a safe expedition to Rebel 12," the man in the suit said, staring at the two astronauts.
"Everything is going well, General Geiser," Holly said, saluting to the General. "The expedition to Rebel 12 is going very smooth so far. We haven't reached Rebel's atmosphere yet so no communication breakages have happened yet. We have hope that we may be able to reach Rebel's surface without any trouble."
"That is very good Ms. Fernandez," General Geiser said. "If we're able to break through the atmosphere of this planet, we may be able to figure out what may have happened to the astronauts that disappeared there on the previous flights we have sent out. Keep up the good work and call me once you reach Rebel's surface. You should be reaching the atmosphere soon from what we are seeing here back at home base."
"Sure thing boss," Jeremy said, hanging up the call with the General. "That should get rid of him for now. I feel like we should just enjoy our time for now until we do reach the atmosphere."
When Jeremy hung up the all, Holly began to make her way towards the back of the ship. Jeremy turned his head once he heard Holly open the door to the food compartment at the back of the ship. He got out of his seat and decided to follow her since he felt hungry as well. Making his way towards where Holly was, he crept up behind her and gave her a reassuring hug. Holly got startled by the hug for a moment but then relaxed once she realized it was Jeremy.
"Jeremy! You scared me for a moment," Holly huffed as she turned towards him.
"Sorry about that honey, didn't mean to startle you like that," Jeremy said, rubbing her stomach. "I'm shocked the general still doesn't know. We're not so sure id we'll get in trouble for this. Do you think we should tell him once we reach Rebel's surface?"
"The General doesn't need to know anything about this. We don't need our work to get into our family business?" Holly said. "Besides, we'll be home before you know it. All we need to do is discover the planet, maybe find the missing astronauts, bring that information back to NASA, and make way to our home."
"If you say so," Jeremy said as he let go of her, grabbing some food out from out of the ship's compartment. "Did you think of any names for the baby?"
"Hmm, I was thinking Zack for a boy and Melanie for a girl," Holly said, putting her hands on her stomach. "What do you think we should name the child? I want to get your opinions as well"
"To be honest, whatever names you choose for the child, I would go with as well," Jeremy smiled. "Just remember that we aren't sure on the gender of the child. We won't find out until we get back to Earth."
"Well, that is pretty obvious," Holly laughed. "Unless I decide to give birth before we even get to Earth since we are gonna be out here for a while."
Suddenly, the two astronauts felt a shake coming from the right side of the ship. Red alarms began to blare and make loud noises from inside the ship, warning them that the ship was going down. Holly and Jeremy quickly made their way towards the ship's control room once they heard the alarms. Upon entering the control, they were greeted with the planet's surface coming at them with high speeds. It came to the conclusion that they were crash-landing into the planet's surface after they were hit by something. Holly tried to call the General, but it was no use since communication was shutdown. Instead, the two pulled up on the steering wheel of the ship to try and get the ship to brace the impact, but that failed as well as the wheels snapped out of place.
"Holly! It's not working!" Jeremy yelled to her, letting go of the steering wheel and making his way towards the back. "We need to head to the impact room!"
Holly got out of her seat and followed Jeremy into the back of the ship and making their way into the impact room. Once the two got inside the room, they shut the door and held on to anything they could as they leaned against the walls of the room. As the ship collided with the ground, an explosion happened making pieces of the ship fly everywhere. The room they were in went flying up into the air and landed on the ground, tumbling and rolling until it came to a stop. Everything went silent after some time, signaling them that it was alright to calm down from their shocked state.
"Holly, we're alive," Jeremy said, dropping to the ground after letting go of the wall. "We're on Rebel and we're not dead."
Holly calmed down from her shocked state and fell to the ground beside him, panting from what she had just experienced. Jeremy walked over to the door and was hesitant on opening it. She quickly grabbed hold of his pants as she watched him walk over to the door. He looked down at her and walked back over to sit next to his panicking wife.
"Holly, we need to head out of this room and discover the environment that his planet has in store for us. We can't just sit here in this room, waiting for help. We are the last flight to Rebel after all," Jeremy said. "They aren't going to send in anymore flights until they can figure out how to survive the trip through the atmosphere."
"Just be careful," Holly said, letting go of him. "You're the only one on this planet that I can speak with."
Jeremy gave her a reassuring nod and made his way towards the door of the impact room. He hesitantly opened the door and the first thing that he was able to see was wildlife. There were trees everywhere, animals running around through the grass that grew on the planet's surface, the sun shining over a small pond of water, and so much more that the couple was able to see. Rebel was littered with life just like Earth was.
"Just by the view, I think we are safe from any harm Holly. The air is clean to breathe and there is so much wildlife around here. None of the animals here seem to be like the creatures back on Earth," Jeremy said, amazed at the view. "I seriously wonder how the astronauts seemed to get lost here on Rebel."
The two astronauts wandered out of the impact room and made their first steps on to the planet before them. They noticed many major differences between the wildlife on this planet in comparison to Earth. Many of the animals seemed to have more fur and the trees in the forest were much smaller than the ones that were found on Earth. The forest was even cooler than most of the ones found on they had been through back home. This planet was perfect for life to exist on as there was water they could drink and food to eat.
"There are so many types of creatures here on this planet. We can name them and send this info back to headquarters!"" Holly said, amazed as she watched a tiny creature sprint through the trees. "Maybe we can even live on this planet since we are suitable for this life."
Out of nowhere, the noise of a gun was heard from behind a distance and the two humans heard it. Before they could make a move, they both felt something hit them in their side. Jeremy pulled the projectile out of his side to see a tranquilizer dart has been penetrated into his skin. The two of them fell to the ground, their vision starting to get blurry as they began to go unconscious. In the corner of Jeremy's eye, he saw something or someone come out of one of the bushes. The creature leaned down towards the two humans and stared at the two of them.
"That's another two to add to the list" the creature said, swaying its tail as it watched the humans close their eyes.
