There is a disease spreading,

Please beware.

Its ruthless, heartless,

And infects mercilessly, when you're least aware.

This feeling, it creeps up on you like a shadow,

And without warning, it attacks.

Then it will leave you hollow,

And you will beg for it to come back.

It's whimsical, cruel and savage,

Its roots digging deep into your soul.

Resistance is futile -

- Nothing can escape its black hole.

As fast as it comes, a whirlwind of passion,

It leaves you all alone.

Broken, a mirror shattered into pieces,

With no frame to call home.

Many beg for it,

Many cry for some more.

But love is evil,

Something we should not blindly accept and ignore.

So tell me,

Why do the people flock in their masses?

For such a terrible pain?

For when it leaves, it passes,

And there is only heartbreak to gain?

This is a short poem about well, love. I had to write it for a Wraphic competition and when I first started, I had no idea where this was going to go. The first verse felt too rigid so I deleted it and started again. I switched off my music and suddenly the rhyme began to flow and I ended up writing this fairly quickly.

I like the negative perspective it gives on love because love doesn't always work out. So this is for all my heartbroken ladies and gents who had to suffer because of love.

And no, I've never had a negative experience with love but I do love being dramatic, hence such a dark take :)
