Part 14
Tristan: Alright. Now that you have nearly mastered weaponry, let's try the gun. It's a handy tool to use in combat when you're shooting at your target when no one is looking. I want you to grab your musket and hit one of that glass bottle ten feet away.
(Hilda takes out her musket and waits for Tristan's instructions he touches her to guide her what she has to do)
Tristan: Arms up. Feet apart, put your elbows done a little bit, and put the right hand on the trigger. Remove the safety, and fire at your target.
(She pulls the trigger and the bullet ricochets giving her a lost opportunity)
Tristan: Close but not quite. Hmm...I see what the problem is. You put your elbows too down.
(He adjusts her elbows)
Tristan: Alright now do it. But keep your eye on the target.
(She closes one eye to get a better view, she shoots and the glass bottle makes a shatter sound it falls to the ground)
Tristan: Nice! You're nearly done.
Hilda: After I'm done what happens now?
Tristan: Now we have to upgrade your weaponry. Everything you'll need in battle.
Hilda: Sounds like a plan.
(They both are about to walk back to the castle, as Hilda is walking behind Tristan she sees her vision suddenly changing from her regular color to a black and white color. She stops for a second blinking her eyes adjusting them to come back, Tristan stops his tracks as he notices shes not making any footsteps he notices her blinking)
Tristan: You ok?
Hilda: My vision...I cant see normal.
Tristan: Wh-what do you mean?
Hilda: My vision is changing from a regular color to a black and white color.
Tristan: Color blind?
Hilda: This has never happened to be before.
Tristan: That sounds serious. We better get into town fast then. Can you walk back by yourself?
Hilda: Sort of.
Tristan: Ok. Let's get you to Wendell and Wenda maybe they can take a look.
(Cue back to the castle chambers, Wendell touches Hilda's face to get a good look into her eyes but they seem normal)
Wendell: I don't know, darling. That is beyond my level of expertise. Might I suggest you visit the town eye doctor? Perhaps he could give you a more intel. I don't know anything about eyes turning a different color. My theory is your vision could be changing to a gray color that reasons are unknown. You're very young. You're too young to be experiencing something like this or lack there of.
(Hilda let's out a shaky breath)
How old are you?
Hilda: I'm twenty three.
Wendell: That's strange indeed. A young woman your age shouldn't encounter something like that.
Tristan: Do you think maybe your eyes are turning into synesthesia?
Hilda: No. Just black and white. Color blind.
Tristan: Alright let's take you to the eye doctor then.
(Cue to the eye doctor)
Eye doctor: It doesn't look like anything is wrong with your eyes.
Hilda: I'm not lying my vision really did change to black and white.
Eye doctor: Hmm. It's not uncommon. But it's very rare to experience something like that unless you're in your old age.
Hilda: so you have absolutely no conclusion?
Eye doctor: Afraid not. Are you experiencing color blindness right now?
Hilda: No. But it lasted about several minutes when I went back to the castle with his majesty Prince Tristan.
Eye doctor: Hmm...I got it. Take this medication for your eyes. That should take away the color for now. But be wary, don't use too much or you really will lose your vision.
Tristan: I cannot believe this is all you can do for her.
Eye doctor: Well until we find out more, this is what she will temporarily have to use for now.
Hilda: Okay. Thanks.
(Cue back to the front of the castle)
Hilda: Great. As if we don't have enough to deal with.
Tristan: Were you in any pain when the black and white started to appear?
Hilda: No. Nothing. Nothing out the ordinary.
Tristan: And you say this is your first time?
Hilda: Yes. This has never happened to me before.
Tristan: Don't worry. We'll figure it out.
(Hilda starts to walk and notices some color coming out from the black and whiteness, a type of liquid. She follows it the outside of the castle and goes outside and opens the gate Tristan follows)
Tristan: Where are you going?
(She follows the trail of liquid and walks very far out of the village all the way to the gates where the forest is located the liquid turns red, like a blood color she continues to follow it)
Tristan: What are you looking for exactly?
Hilda: You don't see it?
Tristan: see what? What are you talking about?
Hilda: It looks like blood.
Tristan: Okay. Now you've gone mad.
Hilda continues to follow the trail into the nearby forest. Then it disappears now theres footsteps.
Hilda: Someone was here.
She uses the color blind eyes to guide her to the footsteps a long long trail leads all the way out of the forest into another village but they can't go that far
Tristan: I don't know what you're looking for, but it looks far. Should I ready up the horses?
Hilda: No. Sorry, but can you go back to the castle? I need to figure this out.
Tristan: Its too dangerous Hilda. You could get lost theres a bunch of psychotic people here. You're not all the way nearly as done to fight in battle. Plus rabid animals lurk in the woods. You don't know how to use your weapons yet. Let's get the horses.
Hilda: I can't just stop.
Tristan: stay here. I'll get one for us.
(He does and he leads the horse on a leash towards Hilda)
Hilda: Let's just walk for now.
(Hilda and Tristan and the horse continue to walk and then the footsteps lead into the lake. She has another vision about a boat going to the other side with men inside, and a girl in chains, blond hair blue eyes)
Hilda: A boat...there was a boat here. It went on the other side. The footsteps disappear...just like that. And then they aren't seen again. They went to the other side, im sure of it. Bea is on the other side of the boat.
Tristan: As much as I wanna believe you Hilda, I think you're not making any sense.
Hilda: Its true though Tristan! Maybe the strange color is trying to tell us something. I just know it!
Tristan: Maybe you're tired and need some rest. You seem to be hallucinating.
Hilda: I know what I saw! I just don't know how any way I can explain.
Tristan: Let's just go back.
Hilda: You don't believe me don't you?
Tristan: I want to believe you but it sounds crazy what you're telling me.
Hilda: I know. But don't you trust me?
Tristan: Of course I do. But I just don't see how it's possible.
Hilda: How about we walk to the other side and we see what's there?
Tristan: I don't know Hilda. We better not. We don't know what's beyond the lake.
Hilda: you're the one that said we need to find more information about the kidnapping right? Maybe this is the way.
(Tristan shakes his head)
Tristan: You better be right.
(The three of them walk over the lake about a few feet to get to the other side when they get out of the water, the footsteps appear again. Hilda walks to the trail and goes over to the tree. Then she has another vision. People in a carriage with horses. The trail continues on for the next miles. She and Tristan get on the horse and she continues to look down on the floor to see where it will take her)
Tristan: Not to sound negative Hilda. But whatever you're looking for, i don't think you'll find it.
(A few hours later within finding the ongoing trail of footsteps they finally reach somewhere outside the forest. Another village it seems. Then the footsteps fade once again. They both get off the horses and see the village. But the town is not seen only the beginning of where the forest lies Tristan makes the horse gallop faster and then there it is. The out skirts of an unfamiliar village nobody has seen or so it seems)
Hilda: I don't recognize this place. You?
Tristan: Avalon.
Hilda: What's that?
Tristan: The city of urban legends
Hilda: Why would the footsteps lead us here?
Tristan: Maybe the princess is here?
Hilda: No. I doubt it.
Tristan: Let's take a look around.
Hilda: So if this is the city of myth what exactly happened?
Tristan: A century ago, people were killed in this village injustice speaking, so their spirits haunts everyone here.
Hilda: Why didn't they just leave if they hated it here?
Tristan: I dunno. Financial reasons, Totalitarian governments.
Hilda: So everywhere in Albion, all systems work differently?
Tristan: Everyone has a different system set in every district. I have only visited here once as a teenager but I've never really encountered the laws here.
Hilda: It looks dead around here.
Tristan: As far as what I've known as a teenager, they never instilled a castle here. So it's a dead end village. Not a lot of people here. Only farmers, escorts and poor folks. Not a lot of people come here for anything other than that. Do you think maybe they brought Bea here? And for what? Theres nothing here.
Hilda: I don't know. But that's where the steps lead us to. What other villages do you know of?
Tristan: Blackthorne. The city of exhiles and expatriates.
Hilda: You seem to know a lot about the villages.
Tristan: I use to travel with the knights and read some in books. So I guess in a way you could thank my reading for my knowledge of these villages.
(The footsteps are back and Hilda follows it)
Tristan: Again?
(Hilda follows the reappearing footsteps it goes down the small concrete floor, then leads all the way to a desolate black house that looks destroyed and broken with the windows all shattered and the door looking all broken into they go inside it)
Hilda: Bloody hell.
Tristan: What.
Hilda: The footsteps disappeared again.
Tristan: Well bring it back.
Hilda; It doesn't work that way.
Tristan: Ugh. Were not getting anywhere. By the looks of it, were never gonna find Bea if we keep having some wild goose chase here.
(The black and white comes back again and inside the abandoned house, she feels something under her shoe so thin, that no one else would feel something untouchable she puts both her hands on the ground and feels it. A thin strand of hair. She takes it to the sunlight)
Hilda; Blonde.
She goes over to Tristan
Tristan: Well?
Hilda: I found a strand of hair. Its very thin. But if you look in the sunlight you'll see its color.
(He crinkles his eyebrows together then he sees)
Tristan: Blonde...no Hilda. That's a coincidence. It could be anyone's hair.
Hilda: Princess Bea is here at this village somewhere I can sense it.
Tristan: But why would they go a few miles away from Electus within a few hour short of a time period?
Hilda: That's a mystery to me. Listen, I dont know how the laws work here, but we should look around and see if shes here somewhere or if she's well hidden.
Tristan: I think you're onto something, Hilda.
Hilda; Perhaps it's a good thing that my eyes changed a perception of color.
(They both smile)
Tristan: Alright. Let's find Bea.
