Part 10
(Hilda wakes up in the morning as usual going to the main hall of the kitchen. To her surprise she sees Tristan. Odd because hes actually never there in the main eating area unless absolutely neccessary, she walks by him but Tristan calls out to her anyways)
Tristan: Hilda, we've got to talk. Let's meet in my room.
They both walk on over to his room)
Hilda: What's this about?
Tristan: Harper told me about the dead man.
Hilda (Angry exclaim) Harper.
Tristan: Don't get mad at him I made him tell me.
Actually I'm impressed of what you did. Your combat could prove useful in the field.
(He tilts his head to signal her to follow him) come with me. I want to show you something.
(Hilds goes ahead and walks with him) Know that this is however a secret. You spill it, and I will deny it and you'll get sent into the dungeon for "slander"
(he does air quotation Mark's with his fingers)
once we reach this place, you'll see where our battle comes from.
(They reach the secret part of the castle a door to the secret room they go on ahead inside it)
you must never come here without me, understand?
Hilda: Yes, liege. (Pause) Now are you going to tell me where were headed?
Tristan: Were almost there.
(They open the inside and its something that Hilda is impressed with she starts to look around, all of the inside appears to be all white with a small booth just over there in the corner of the room)
Hilda: It looks like a snow color, liege. Why are we here?
Tristan: This is where we will begin your training.
Hilda: No, seriously.
(Tristan nods)
Tristan: All of the knights came here in secret to do their training here and then show off what they know in the training on the outside of the palace
Hilda: Well, how does it work? Tristan: it's called the simulation room. This is where we spar or train.
Hilda: Each other?
Tristan: Sort of. You'll see. You stay here. I'm going to the booth.
(He goes into it, and he starts to talk using one of those booth voice sounds)
Tristan: Hilda, can you hear me?
Hilda: Yes, Tristan.
Tristan: Good. Im gonna show you how it works now.
(He presses a button in the booth and an invisible ghost like figure that's dressed in uniform shows up in front of Hilda)
Tristan: This is what you're going to be sparing with instead of an actual human being. Though, you won't get stabbed, you will get hurt and it will hurt as if a real human hurt you physically. Hilda, I hope you have a high pain tolerance because this is how you're going to train.
(He turns off the ghost like prescence and it goes away like nothing happened Tristan comes back out)
Tristan: So what do you think?
Hilda: Its kinda weird. He was there and now hes not there anymore.
Tristan: I understand the confusion.
Hilda: How did you manage to do all this?
Tristan: before you came along, the knights were complaining about getting hurt sparing one another, so with the money I made from the renaissance festivities i payed someone off, and told him to do this for me. Let's just say I know a guy. Anywho, shall we begin? Or do you have anymore questions before we start?
Hilda: I guess not.
Tristan: Alright. (He heads back to the booth and pulls something out and goes back to Hilda)
Heres your sword. Let's start.
(She gets it and starts to stare at it) Now, what is your laterality? (She raises her hand to him)
Hilda: I'm right handed.
Tristan: Very well. With that hand, you're going to use it to strike down your enemy. I want you to put two hands on the sword.
(She puts both hands together) No,no,no put your right hand on top.
Hilda: Like that?
Tristan: Yeah, now put the left one on the bottom. Relax your shoulders.
(Hilda has her elbows at an abnormal angle)
put your elbows down a little bit. (He helps her by touching her elbows and guiding her to where she must go)
There you go, and now, when i stand back, i want you to swing.
(He does) Swing! (Hilds swings the sword going in a yelling voice)
Hilda: Hee-yah! Like that?
(Tristan has both hands on his hips)
Tristan: you did it wrong. Again, relax your elbows and shoulders
(he touches her to make her go in the same position she was before she let's out a big hee-yah again) Its a sword Hilda. Not a baseball bat.
Hilda: Tristan, even if I do practice, it could take months or years before I'm able to completely master it.
Tristan: not necessarily. With alot of hard work and training, you could be an expert within weeks maybe even days.
This is what the rookies had to do too. Some took months or weeks to endeavour and some days. But the chances of that happening, I'm not going to lie to you,its pretty slim.
Hilda: I was right then. This is useless.
Tristan: Don't give up hope yet Hilda. You must believe in yourself. Alright I'm going to go back to the booth, you have your sword in hand. I'm going to turn on the uniformed men. Get back in position.
(He goes to the booth and turns on the invisible ghost like men)
Go!
(Hilda and the invisible man stand in front of each other face to face the man starts to hit his blade at her but Hilda dodges it)
Try the kick Hilda. Its effective.
(The invisible man once again tries to hit Hilda but she dodges it, with him in the open, She gives the man a kick in the leg giving her an opportunity to strike him down, she stabs him in the abdomen and his ghost like prescence fades)
Another one. Let's try three men. Are you up for it?
Hilda: I think so.
Tristan: Alright let's go again.
(The four of them face each other one of the men strikes her with a sword but she dodges it with her sword making the sheath sound)
Just like I taught you before. (Hilda kicks the man in the abdomen and stabs him with the sword, the other man tries to stab her but she quickly skips and dodges his counter attack still holding out the sword to him, she remembers what Tristan said to her but before she could react she is quickly taken down to the floor with a "stab" in her body she let's out a groaning pain sound letting go of the sword)
Does it hurt like in real battle? I tried to warn you.
Hilda:No you did. I'm good.
(He comes out of the booth and goes over to her to help her up with one hand she takes it and gets right back up)
Tristan: Not as easy as it looks huh?
Hilda: Probably so.
Tristan: Alright, since the simulation dummies didnt quite work out, why dont you try on me?
Hilda: What? No. I don't wanna hurt you.
Tristan: You won't. I have fast reflexes trust me.
Hilda: I can't. It doesn't feel right.
Tristan:You won't strike me I promise. Come on.
(She and Tristan both grabs the sword, she tries to attack Tristan, before she knows it, Tristan quickly dodges the attack on his left side, and goes in the back of Hilda grabbing her right arm pulling it on top the small of her back preventing her to fight back leaving the sword to fall head first onto the floor, if she moves her arm or anything she could twist it, she let's out a big gasp realizing Tristan has her body bent forward still holding on her wrist he talks to her in her ear talking normally)
If this were real, I wouldve slit your neck open by now.
(He let's go of her and she gets the feeling back into her arm rubbing her arm in pain so it seems)
Hilda: That really hurt actually. Tristan: What'd I tell you Hilda?
High pain tolerance. (He nods) Right then, we're done for now. I'll let you know when we can come back. Right now I have some business to tend to for Bea's kidnapping. So we should get back. I'll walk you back to the main entrance of the castle.
(Cue Harper waiting for Hilda in the front entrance awaiting her return to tell her the good news)
Hilda: Great! So they'll finally leave you alone?
Harper: Looks like it.
Hilda: Good. I was going to try to help you and raise some coins to give to them so they dont harass you.
Harper: Not necessary.
Hilda: Who helped you?
Harper: I know a guy.
*hilda nods*
Harper: So where were you this morning? I didn't see you in your room.
Hilda: I was uh...getting breakfast ready for the knights. Thought I could help them early. (She lied because she remembered Tristan telling her something about training)
Harper: But I usually go help. Why didn't you wake me?
Hilda: You were sleeping so soundly. I didn't wanna disturb you.
Harper: Hmm...well I better get back to my chores. So I'll see you later then.
Hilda: Alright.
