Chapter 15
Aureole
Altair and Ciana left to try to heal Eira. I looked at the poor girl, her face constantly shifting between a emotion of comfort and grimace. What had the monster even done?
My eyes sharpens my view, and subconsciously I had a small smile on my lips.
Sure, there were less of us, actually now only two, but both of us had knives, and we were on both sides. There was no one to the left or right, but I was confident.
Kera, for one thing, looked dazed but not shaken up, which I found surprising for a person who had just sliced someone's stomach open. Well, no, I'm exaggerating it was that bad, but it was pretty deep. I hoped she's okay, but I really didn't have time to think about that.
The monster started to chase after me, and Kera charged, as I held my knife out, ready to dodge or stab, and I remember one thing. Kera stabbed through him.
As he came I suddenly swung my leg, kicking nothing but air. He couldn't be touched what was happening? I heard an ugly coughing, weezing sound, and it was from the demon, I think It was laughing. I came flying at us both, now that we were in the same place, and pulled a knife from beneath his sleeves, and he came at us, his blue veins looking as if they were ready to pop. That's it.
Thoughts started forming in my head, my ideas starting to come.
I charged though, stupid, I know. Haha that rhymes, I'm a poet and I didn't even know it.
Well, back to the story, so I was running, right? I ran to where it looked like I was going to run straight into him, and Kera yelled at me to stop. But just as his knife went out to strike, I was prepared to take a step sideways, dodging, but also slicing a vein on his arm. His weakness was openly showing. Why hadn't I noticed before?
Blood splattered from the area, a bit landing on my cheek and his eyes bulged causing a red, what I suppose is a tear, to drop. Then he smiled, very creepily too, and it send shivers down my back.
But I wasn't alone this time. I had Kera with me and she charged with all her might, and want straight at him like I had done, except he had caught her plan and held his blade out sideways. An opening.
I struck for his other side, instead hitting his hand, and Kera hit his head, and another splatter of blood came.
As she was coming down his knife moved cutting her thigh and she let a shriek of pain as the the ground. I was too stunned to use the moment to my advantage, and the knife came in my direction causing me to jump back and pull me back to my senses. There were multiple veins busted on his head, three on his side, and there was a thin trail of it from his hand, I analyzed. His head should be the weakest to I'll go for it.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw Kera start to get up and I told her to stop. She was bleeding badly and I needed to get her to Altair and um what was the other girls name? I only knew Kera because she was one of the people I talked to at the dining hall. I don't understand why we didn't eat, well, never mind I actually do. I mean who could fight and do all of this on a full stomach?
Kera was still flailing and I decided that a full on attack wouldn't be the best thing. I attacked his head again, but not how he expected leaving him stunned, and I ran to Kera, helping her up. I was helping her walk to we couldn't walk, but we did move as fast as we could to out of the room. I guessed they were in Altair's room again... Two girls who looked no older than fourteen. I guided Kera but you could hear the anger howls of the monster as he sped towards us. We both rushed into Altair's room, and luckily it was unlocked, so we slammed the door behind us. "Aureole?" I heard a surprised voice. Shoot, wrong room. I turned around to see a short golden haired boy with bright large Amber eyes, radiating intensity and energy.
"Volt, hey," I said awkwardly. "Did you guys find any tools?"
"Nope, that's why I'm here. Hey--wait aren't you the-"
"No time right now, there's something trying to kill us."
His mouth turned into a small 'O', and I kinda felt bad for him. We might be able to leave now, but there's only a slight chance that we could make it. "Volt, can you look after Kera? She's hurt."
He looked at her cut, his eyes widening. But there was a blush on his face too. I almost smiled, but I had more serious things to worry about.
He nodded, and put his arm on a table, leaning on it, and almost slipping. "Yep, all is safe with me looking after her."
Well that's one relief... Not really. But oh well, it's better than leaving her alone, I hope. I walked out of the door taking all my concerns with me, and I was face to face with the monster. No turning back now, I guess.
