TRIGGER WARNING
- Graphic death scene

~~

The next morning, I'm awake by 8am and the smells of breakfast instantly hit my nose. Yoongi has me pulled into his side as soft snores escape his lips. I stretch, sliding away from Yoongi and standing. The man sleeps like a rock so nothing will wake him easily. I pull my robe over my body while sliding on my Crocs. Quietly leaving the guest room, I follow the scent to the kitchen where my grandfather is cooking.

"Good morning." I say softly, smiling as I walk further into the kitchen.

"Hey, good morning." He returns the smile, flipping over the bacon in the skillet. "How did you sleep last night?"

"Pretty good. Feels good being here, where I'm familiar."

"That means you need to-"

"Come home often. Yes, I know."

He chuckles at me, reaching over to the cabinet that houses the mugs. He hands one to me and I thank him. I go over to the coffee machine, pouring me some of the hot liquid into the mug. I add my sugar and cream, making sure I'm able to taste the diabetes in the drink.

He scoffs in humor, turning his attention back to what he's cooking. "Some things never change."

"We only age, Pawpaw." I smile.

"Did you tell your man about your parents last night?"

I shake my head, taking a sip of my coffee. "No. Once our heads hit those pillows, it was lights out. Our flight in was long."

He nods, putting the bacon on paper towel for the grease to drain out. "So you're going to tell him on the way, then."

"Yeah."

"The whole story?"

"The censored parts. When I've told him my job, then I'll tell him everything. As in the real reason I moved to South Korea."

I walk over by my granfather, taking a piece of bacon off the plate and stuffing it in my mouth. The crispy meat crunches in my mouth and I hum in satisfaction. Being with my grandfather brings back nostalgia. There was nothing I loved more than his cooking. I peep at everything he has out on the counter and figure he's making bacon, eggs, French toast, and grits. Yoongi is in for a treat when he wakes up.

I take a seat at the kitchen table, watching as my granddad maneuvers around the kitchen, softly singing to himself a gospel song that I quietly start singing with him. We gradually increase our sound and before I know it, we're perfectly harmonizing to a Fred Hammond song. I can't help but to smile brightly. My heart is so full and warm with the interactions we're having. Being away from him for so long has been hard, but given the circumstances, it had to be done.

The floor creaks and I turn to see Yoongi standing in the doorway, eyes squinted as he scratches his head. I rise from my seat and meet Yoongi with a kiss on the cheek. "Good morning, baby."

"Good morning. What time is it?"

"Like, almost 9."

Yoongi shakes his head. "Too early."

"Your body doesn't get jet lagged, I see. It's almost 10 at night in Korea." I chuckle.

"I have to adjust to get my sleep right."

"Of course."

Yoongi walks into the kitchen, greeting my grandfather with a quick bow. He takes a seat at the table and I get him a coffee to sip while breakfast is being finished. We all eat peacefully, making small conversation while we do so. After the meal, Yoongi and I get cleaned up and prepare to leave.

"It was truly a pleasure meeting you, Mr. Nate." Yoongi smiles.

My Pawpaw extends his hand out to Yoongi. "Pleasure is all mine. You don't be a stranger, either. You both keep in contact with an old man like me."

I smile as I watch Yoongi chuckle and nod his head. My granddad turns his attention to me with open arms. I fall into his arms with ease, wrapping my arms tightly around him. "I love you, Pawpaw."

"I love you too, Lia. You better bring your tail back here to see me before going to Florida."

"I will, I promise."

We let go of our embrace and Yoongi and I head toward the rental car. We wave at my granddad one last time before I'm pulling off. It's silent momentarily in the car before I break it. "Yoongi, when we get to the hotel to check in, there's something I have to tell you about my parents."

"Oh, okay. This will be the first." He says in shock.

I've never told him about my parents, and for good reason. I know I need to go see them, but I don't really want him to yet. It's an internal conflict I have within myself that I ultimately lose because I know that this needs to be done. I have to tell him, at least the basics, so he knows why I've never talked about them to anyone. Once we've arrived at the hotel we'll be staying in for the next few days, we get checked in and find our room. Time seems to be on crack because everything feels sped up and before I know it, we're in our room. The universe is telling me to hurry up and tell him so that I can be at ease, if even it's just for a little bit.

I plop down onto the bed with my fingers clasped together as I try to think of how to begin. I guess the smartest thing would be to start from what's less triggering for me.

Yoongi feels my tense energy, as he sits next to me on the bed and gives me a kiss. "Whatever it is, it's got my girl stressed. You don't need to tell me."

I shake my head. "I do. I really do. And I'm going to." He nods for me to continue, and I take a deep breath. "Okay. We will be going to see my parents today. They're, um. T-they're buried at a cemetery not too far from here."

"They passed?" Yoongi's eyes widen. "I'm so sorry, Liv."

"No, it's- its fine." I shake my head, feeling the hot tears stinging my eyes. "There's more that I have to tell you. I'll tell you as much as I can that isn't triggering."

Yoongi grabs my hands, his warm touch relaxing me slightly. "Take your time. I'll listen to everything you have to say."

12 years prior

Hot tears sting my eyes and run down my face as I try to figure out what is happening. I crawl over to my mother, full on sobbing as I pull her close to me. Her lifeless body is heavy, her brain matter on my hands, her blood soaking into my clothes, and her cloudy eyes staring at me. This can't be real. I'm not holding my dead mother. I'm not.

"Mom," I shake her softly, voice hoarse & cracking.  "Mom please. Momma talk to me. Mom, please!"

I shake her more, screaming and crying out for her, but she's no more. She's gone. I rock with my mother, continuously calling to her, hoping that miraculously she'll answer to me. I'm met with only the sounds of me crying and the faint sound of blood squishing on my body as I move.

I take a deep breath and that's when I hear it. My eyes widen and I perk up at the sound of a very labored breath calling to me. "Olivia."

I look down at my mother, who is in the same condition with no change. It wasn't her breath. She wasn't the one that called me. I gently lie my mother down, not wanting to leave her in her own pool of blood, but I crawl over to where my name came from, sobbing even more. "Daddy."

On the other side of the room behind the couch, I find my father in the same condition as my mother, except his head is in one piece but he's barely clinging to life. I pull him into my arms like I did with my mother, my eyes so swollen and sore from the tears and my throat dry from the sobs.

"Daddy, please. Stay with me, please." I plead to my hero.

"Vivi, I l-love you." My father barely chokes out.

"Daddy, stop it. Talk to me please."

"H-he, he d-did this." It comes out in a harsh, labored whisper. "He ki-killed us."

"No!" I scream. "You're still here, daddy! You aren't dead! You won't die!" I hear sirens in the distance and know they're headed to us. My mom is already gone. I can't lose my dad, too. Not tonight. Not like this. I cry more as I continue to plead with him. "Daddy, please. Don't leave me. Please."

"Jason. Jason H-Henly." My dad says, taking one last deep breath. "He did."

"Dad, dad!" I shake him vigorously, trying to keep him awake while screaming. "Daddy, no! Stop don't go!"

The more I shake him, the more upset I get. My father has just died in my arms, and the last thing I was told was who his and my mother's killer is. I hold onto him for dear life, rocking with him like I did with my mom, lucky enough to have my father even speaking to me. My tears have dried up, the only thing my body is able to produce now is hiccuping sobs.

Why me? Why my parents? Why did my parents have to die on my sixteenth birthday?

The sirens have stopped and I can see the lights flashing outside of my house. The police come in with flashlights and guns, all pointed in my direction. Once they see the scene, they all drop their weapons and rush over to the area. One officer is trying to talk to me, another is trying to pry my dad out of my arms. I'm completely still. I can't move, I can't speak, I can't think right now. I only have questions.

There are about a million of those questions circling my mind, but the only one I'm focused on is how I'm going to find Jason Henly and make him pay for stealing my parents from me.

--

Yoongi has pulled me into his chest as I sob uncontrollably. I have never told anyone- aside from police and my grandfather- about how I found my parents. Even that is triggering to tell, and that isn't the entire story of what happened that night.

"You are so strong, Olivia. The strongest woman I have ever met." Yoongi holds me tightly, softly speaking in my ear. "So that's why you don't celebrate your birthday. I understand now. All I can say is  I'm sorry that you had to go through something so horrific. And thank you for trusting me and telling me this. I love you, and I'll protect you at all costs."

"I love you so much, Yoongi. Thank you. I needed to tell you at least part of it so that if I break down at the site, you know why."

"Of course. Come on, baby. Let's go rip off the bandaid. Sounds to me like this will be your first time seeing them in years."

--

The breeze is cool as Yoongi and I sit in front of the gravesite that my parents are buried in. I take a deep breath, setting the bouquet of flowers in front of it. I turn to Yoongi slightly, interlocking his fingers with mine.

"I want to introduce you to my parents. My mother, Vivian and my father Oliver. You can easily guess that they combined their names to get mine." I softly smile, looking back at the gravestone in front of me. "Hi momma and daddy. It's been a while."

On cue, two butterflies happen to fly by and land on the gravestone in front of us. I cry as I extend my fingers to touch the creatures and they don't even flinch. I nod, looking up to the sky. "Okay. That's my sign, I see. I'm glad to know you're both doing well. I miss you every single day. And I hope that you continue to love me, through everything I've done."

Yoongi gives me a gentle squeeze of the hand and clears his throat. "These are very sad conditions that we have met under, but I'm glad that I'm here with your daughter right now. I'm Yoongi Min, boyfriend of your amazing daughter. I promise to continue taking good care of your daughter. I would like to for the rest of my life, if she'll allow me." I look to Yoongi, tears in my eyes as I watch him extend a finger toward the butterfly above my father's name. It lands on Yoongi's finger and he chuckles. "I guess you accept me and have blessed me with this opportunity."

The butterflies fly away and I watch them in awe. Turning my attention back to Yoongi, there's a diamond ring between his fingers and I cover my mouth with my hand, my tears falling freely.

"Olivia," he starts. "I think 5 years is enough time for me to know the you're who I want to be with forever. And your father just gave me his blessing. Will you marry me?"

"Yes, of course!" I grab his face in my hands, placing a lingering kiss to his soft, smiling lips.

5 years is definitely a long time to be with someone and we did it. I couldn't be happier in this moment, having the love of my life propose to me with my parents bearing witness, spiritually. As he places the ring on my finger, the only thing I can think of is getting married before going back to Korea.

As if my mind has been read, Yoongi speaks up. "It was a hassle getting the arrangement, but we're getting married on the beach next Friday in Florida. Your granddad will be there as witness and Taehyung was able to get a week off to also witness."

"Goddamn, Yoongi. You've been planning?"

"I've been wanting to propose for 2 years. The ring has been sitting in my car's glove compartment until I found the right opportunity. I knew that being in your home country, state, and city would be the perfect place. I'm kicking my ass on the inside because it's so sappy but it's all for my girl."

I laugh, kissing his lips repeatedly. "Such a Casanova. I love that sappy side every once in a while. And I love you."

"I love you more, Olivia. Now let's go back to the hotel and celebrate. I don't really want your parents to know what I have in mind for you. Your dad would snatch my throat out."

I let out a hearty laugh, grabbing Yoongi's hand as he helps me stand. He's right. The nasty things I know he wants to do to me, my parents are rolling in their graves at.

Guess who's been resurrected from the dead! I can't even remember the last time I updated this. It's honestly been a struggle with this story because of my writer's block, & I promised myself that I would not update any other story until this one has an update. It took my ass a MONTH to write this chapter. Sad boy hours... But here it is! A bit sappy, a bit sad, but we got some more Yoongi! The next chapter I think I wanna do a Yoongi POV? Or just have him in the whole chapter entirely. I'll decide once I have time to really sit & work on this.

If this has typos, point them out 😂

I hope this was enjoyable! Leave me some love in the comments because I love you all! 💜💜💜💜
