A New beginning

"Steady as she goes, lads!" Edward's voice boomed from the top deck.

Grace had just awoken, her eyes still half open due to the lack of sleep. Luckily for her Edward didn't snore in his sleep. What he did though was having nightmares. The whole night Grace had been trying to decide whether or not she should wake him. When she didn't come to a conclusion she just stayed on the other side of the bed, far away from him.

Now she had just put some new clothes on. The white gown that had nearly been torn apart wasn't something she was planning to wear anymore. So now she was wearing some slim black pants with dark brown knee length boots she had found in Edward's closet with a white top and a blue coat that reached till her knees.

She finished it all of with a red cloth that she bound around her waist where she could put some daggers and throwing knives she had found in the cabin in.

Sighing, Grace left the cabin and was soon met with the blinding sun light. Covering her face with her hand, Grace looked around the deck. The men where all keeping to their jobs, probably not even noticing she got out. Until they did when she closed the door. The men on the deck all looked at her, some with a look that even Grace found uncomfortable.

"Has she said anything yet?" Grace heard Bonnie's voice from behind, behind the wheel.

"Not yet." Edward answerred. "She's a tough one."

"How do you plan on getting the information out of her then?"

"First I will try asking, when it doesn't work... Well, lass, you know what that means." Edward sighed, oblivious to the fact that Grace was eavesdropping. "When I've finished this mission I can go back to Jenny. Right now that's all I want. I don't care what she'll make me do, I just want to go home."

"There she is!!" Some men yelled at her. Grace sighed and rolled her eyes, knowing now Edward knew she was there. Grace walked towards the wheel where she saw Edward talking with Bonnie, a woman with red hair.

"Just ignore them." Bonnie advised while looking at Grace.

"Captain." Grace nodded at him and stood on his other side.

"Changed your mind about telling me, lass?" Edward asked while still steering the ship.

"Nope." Grace said, popping the p.

"Ship ahoy!" Someone yelled.

"Give me my spyglass." Edward extended his arm toward Bonnie. She took the object and placed it in his hand.

"What is it?" Grace looked into the distance, trying to make out the flag it was showing. It was no spaniard and no Englishmen, also not a Portugese. It was flying a flag that was all too familiar to Grace.

"Edward-" Grace muttered.

"Man the cannons!" Edward yelled, ignoring Grace.

"Who is it?" Bonnie frowned.

"I don't know. But they're ready to fire at us, yet they haven't."

"Do you think they mean to board us?"

"I think so." Edward looked at Bonnie briefly.

"Wait, Edward, you can't." Grace laid her hand on his arm to get his attention. "I know these people, they've come for me. If you could just drop a boat I can get to them myself."

"And why would I let you do that?"

"Because if you don't, they'll blow you to pieces." Grace warned. Edward scoffed and shook his head, unimpressed. "Look, you don't know these people like I do. They're stronger than the averge human, they're... Inhuman."

"What are you talking about?" Bonnie frowned, looking between Grace and the fastly aproaching ship.

"Edward, please." Grace begged. "Even though I hate you pirates, I don't want y'all to get hurt because of me. They'll do anything to get me back."

"What do you mean inhuman?" Edward looked at Grace's green eyes, finally getting some answers.

"They're... Different." Grace stuttered. The enemy ship was coming closer and closer, soon enough they'll be ready to board them. "Kenway, please, just don't let them do this."

"How different?" Edward ignored her pleas. The ship stopped right next to the Jackdaw, the hooks pulling it closer till they were ready to board. Edward looked as the fear started to fill Grace's eyes while she was looking at the other crew.

"Captain Kenway!" The captain from the other ship yelled as he stepped on board the Jackdaw. "You have something of mine!"

Edward looked at Grace for a few more seconds before descending the stairs and walking towards the other captain.

"And what might that be, mate?" Edward said, grasping one of his pistols.

"One of my master's... Creations." The man smirked.

"I know nothing of this creation, mate, nor would I give her to you if I did." Edward said, standing up tall while facing the man proudly.

"I didn't say anything about a she." The man smirked. He walked past Kenway, looking around the ship for his price. "Grace, where are you, love?"

"It's time to go home, playtime is over!" The man continued with a taunting voice.

Grace sighed, gathering all the courage she had left as she stepped from behind Bonnie and walked towards Richard, the other captain.

"There you are! We've been searching for you." He opened his arms as he smiled widely.

"Leave these people alone, Richard, they have nothing to do with this." Grace said as she walked towards him, walked towards her doom. The weird thing was that she wasn't afraid.

"But they do." Richard smirked, looking at Edward who was glaring back at him. "Since when do you like pirates?"

"That I try to protect them doesn't mean I like them." Grace sighed as she came face to face with Richard. She looked slightly to her side where Edward stood.

"Thank you, Edward Kenway, for saving my life." Grace said. "The thing you're looking for is dangerous and well-guarded. You should forget about it before more people get hurt."

Grace looked at him for a few more seconds, enjoying his light blue eyes. Then she turned back towards Richard. "I'm ready." She sighed.

When they stepped on board Richard's ship, he suddenly turned towards his quartermaster. "kill them all." He commanded.

Grace reacted immediatelly, pulling out one of the daggers in her belt and plunging it in richard's belly in one swift move. "Edward, watch out!" She yelled as she kicked Richard when he was still in shock, sending him to the floor.

Immediatelly there was gunfire and the clanging of swords everywhere, creating a chaos on both decks. Grace ran towards Edward who was effortlessly killing every man that stood in his way. He grasped her arm when she came close and pulled her towards the Captain's Cabin whilst defending them also.

"Wait!" Grace pulled on his hand wen he tried to push her inside. "I can fight." Grace looked up at his blue eyes whilst unsheathing her sword.

"Grace!" Richard yelled furiously as he stepped on the Jackdaw's deck. He glared at her as he opened his hands. "I must say I'm very dissapointed in you, joining the pirates."

"What the fuck?!" Edward exclaimed when suddenly fire started to form in the palms of Richard's hands. He dodged the ball of fire that was thrown at them, his body connecting with the wood beneath him.

"Edward?!" Grace yelled from behind the doors of the Captain's Cabin. She saw him crouched against the walls with his arms pressed against his bloody stomach. "Now would be a good time to hand me one of your pistols!"

"What, you can't cast fire too?!" Edward yelled sarcastically as another fireball hit the ship near him. He could hear Richard's mad chuckles as he continued to fire.

"Not really, no." Grace answered as she threw a dagger towards Richard. It flew past him, scratching the surface of his skin. He yelled in anger and fired another fireball in Grace's direction.

"Edward!" Grace ran from behind the wall as the ball hit, throwing her into the air and into the ground near the captain. She slowly lifted herself up as she groaned loudly.

"Stay down, lass." Edward smirked at her and then suddenly stood up, grasping two of his pistols in his hands. He started firing bullet after bullet at Richard, catching him completely off guard.

But Richard started to laugh madly as he looked down at the several wounds in his chest. "You really think mere bullets would kill me?" Richard laughed as he looked at Edward. "You're mistaken."
