"Desmond, C'mon!" You shouted while running through the forest. Your brother Desmond was stumbling around logs and stumps, occasionally falling over a few rocks.

You both were racing to see who could get to your favorite spot in the forest. So far, you were winning.

"It's not fair, (y/n)! Your faster cause your a girl!" He complained, out of breath behind you.

"Well it's your fault for eating all of dad's packs of cookies. 24 boxes, Desmond. 24!!" You mocked.

"IM A GUY I HAVE TO EAT!" Your brother shouted, making you laugh.

A few hours later you both made it to the old oak. You stood in the clearing with enough breath to spare while Desmond was looking like he could pass out at any second.

You grabbed your older brother's hand gently and tugged him to the picnic table that was under the tree and overlooking the city from a cliff.

"Sit." You commanded, and he obeyed with no question. He face planted himself into the wood until you pulled out your basket (did I forget to mention you were holding a picnic basket? Watch out for Yogi Bear, bro) and opened a can of soda, which fizzed softly.

You handed it to Desmond and- for some reason- perked up when he heard the fizz.

You grabbed a bottle of water and a bag of chips, handing Desmond the basket.

"Thanks, Sis!" He smiled. "Anything for my older brother." You smirked while taking a bite of your (f/c/t) (favorite chip type).

That was when you were 10 and Desmond was 14. It felt so long ago but it was still fresh in your head like a new cut.

You were under that same old oak tree, though it was withering a bit, and you had a sad frown on your face.

Its been about 10 years..... And he never showed up to visit me anymore... You thought, biting your tongue.

You lived with your best friend (b/f/n), who gladly allowed you to since you had no where to live when Desmond and your father left.

You watched as the branches above you swayed silently, it's lush green leaves falling onto your nose and around you. The soft grass caressed your cheeks as the wind brushed against your (h/c) hair.

What if i'll never see Desmond again..... You began to think, until you heard someone call your name.

You ignored it, but it came again.

"(Y/n)!"

It can't be, maybe I'm just sad that I'm hearing things...

"(Y/n), seriously?!" It called again. You made an effort to get up from your comfortable spot and when you saw the man calling your name, shocks of happiness spiraled down your spine.

"Desmond!!" You cried, running down the hill and tackling your long missed brother.

"Not what I was expecting from you, but i'll take what I can get as long as your not mad that I haven't been able to see you." He laughed, hugging you.

"Of course i'm mad!" You squeaked when you and him sat up.

"Well, will this 'i'm-sorry-for-not-seeing-my-amazing-sister-for-awhile-picnic' work?" He asked, holding up a basket.

You sat there silently and watched as he got up, grabbed your hand, and dragged you to the tree.

"How's he been doing?" Desmond asked, touching the tree. "Very fine actually...." You whispered.

You remember when Old Oak (name for a tree! Yay!) got shocked by lightning and lost half of it's limbs, but new ones grew with even prettier and smooth bark.

>timeskip brought to you by some random person that just wants me to get to the end<

You finished the sandwich you had and began to climb Old Oak. "If you fall it's not my fault!" Desmond called.

"Shut up. I know you wanna climb to." You retorted. You heard silence until you saw Desmond start climbing faster than you.

"Hey!" You shouted when he was at the biggest branch that you use to sit on.

"Hurry up before the sun goes down, (y/n)." Desmond called.

Your eyes widened and you climbed faster.

You jumped next to him and sat with him, watching the sun go down. It casted pink, orange, and purple hues into the sky and you smiled.

You were surprised when two hands wrapped around your neck.

"I missed you, Sis." Desmond said.

You smiled and hugged him back, glad your brother was finally back with you.

"I missed you to, Desmond."
