Silence says a thousand words
Connor X Mute! Reader
Yay
Mute readers are best readers
Mainly cause in one-shots it makes the reader seem more valuable to the guy.
Whee!
The music might make it seem soothing or so idk I just picked random music cause I can and cause it helped me write this.

Enjoy~

"Connor! (Y/n)!" Achilles called from downstairs. It's the middle of the night old man..... You clutched your pillows tighter and squeezed your eyes shut with an angry expression as Connor came into your room. The light from the candle was enough to make you turn away. "(Y/n) you must get up. This might be important." Connor said, shaking you awake. He had just woken up, you could tell by the slur in his voice and when he yawned after he said something. You turned and flashed a/an (e/c) glare that read, 'with him nothing is really important.' Connor seemed to understand the look and he chuckled tiredly. "C'mon (y/n) I promise that whatever he wants us to do will not last long." He tried to persuade you, but you didn't budge. He sighed. "I will carry you on my back to your room if you just see what Achilles wants." You smiled at him and got up, walking out of the room and downstairs with the assassin.
Achilles was waiting impatiently for you both. "Finally. I want you both to clean off the table." Achilles instructed. "Why?" Connor asked, crossing his arms after setting the candle down. "You, Connor. left a mess of blood from hunting, and (y/n) left her sword and food." Achilles scolded. You slapped your forehead and walked to the kitchen to throw away your food and put the plate in the sink (or whatever they had back then i cant remember) this was the worst reason to wake up. EVER. You grabbed your sword and watched as Achilles walked back to his room. Instantly, Connor scooped you up on his back, catching you off guard, and carried you back up into your room. He opened your bedroom door and walked in, setting you down on the bed. "Are you sure you want to go back to sleep? The sun is beginning to rise." Connor asked, looking outside the window, seeing as the sky was slowly turning into a soft light blue. You shook your head and hissed as the light hit your eyes. Connor chuckled again and walked to the curtains, pulling them all closed until the room was dark, the only light source coming from the melting candle. "Sleep well, (y/n). But if you need me I'll be tending to the horses, or possibly near the docks." Connor said. You nodded and hugged the native you've grown to call a friend. He hugged you back, due to the fact you always hug him before you go to sleep.
He left the room and shut the door quietly, leaving you to your thoughts. Hm, you know that's the first time Connor didn't say he'd be in Boston or New York, and Achilles banned me from going there alone, so I guess I'll actually go and spend the day with him.....maybe even try to talk....no.....that's a stupid idea. I stopped talking since I didn't like my voice. You waited about an hour before getting up and changing into a plain dress, different than your assassin robes. You left your (h/l) (h/c) hair messy since it always looks that way, and made your way to the door. When you opened it you were immediately welcome Connor's dog, you just called him Milo and Connor seemed okay with that. Milo was a German Shepard mixed with some bloodhound and some golden retriever. He was a kind dog, but defensive all the same.
You smiled and scratched the dogs fluffy head, beckoning him to follow you with a movement of your hand. He obediently followed you out of the house and to the horse stable. Connor wasn't there so you began to walk down the long path leading to the docks that was home to the mighty Aquila. You liked to go down and listen to some of the sailors tell stories of their adventures with Connor in the Aquila and you liked to listen to them sing whenever you're on the Aquila for it's monthly "sail's check" to see if the ship's sails were in good shape. As you walked down you almost tripped over a root, but Milo caught you in time by running in front of you and pushing you back up. He is a huge dog. "Thank you Milo." You whispered, almost inaudible, to the dog. He barked and ran down into the water, splashing water everywhere, even on Connor. Connor let out a rare laugh that you actually hear often as he played with his dog. You walked up to them timidly and waited to be noticed. Connor turned to you and had a playful smirk on his face. I swear it's like he always acts this way around me... You rolled your eyes. "Come on (y/n), join us!" He said cheerfully, as if he was little again. He held out a half-gloved hand to you and you hesitantly took it, being jerked into the water with a laughing Connor and a barking Milo. You couldn't help but giggle at his foolishness. Normally he'd act all shut off. Today was somehow different. Connor spun you softly, making your dress puff out a little, and then pulled you to him as if you both were dancing. Water droplets were flung everywhere from your dress and Milo's constant running, you actually were having fun.
"Well this is interesting." Achilles whispered to Paul Revere, who was coming to visit for a short time. Paul was only smiling. "It's nice to see he has a connection with someone who never talks and yet, he understands her completely. Not to mention his thick, rough attitude has changed for now." He said. Achilles held up three fingers, then two, then one, then pointed at Connor, who now noticed the two older men were there. You quickly stopped and he coughed, looked away with a stiff composure and a small red tint on his face. "And now it's gone." Achilles snickered. "H-How long have you both been standing there?" Connor asked, still looking away. "Long enough to see you goofing off with Milo and (y/n)." Achilles said, a hint of humor in his raspy voice. After an awkward silence Paul and Achilles left and Connor finally looked at you. "I am sorry if I got you in trouble at all." He muttered. You only sympathetically smiled and waved your hands in the air, saying, 'no, no, Connor. It should be my fault.' Connor only smiled at how you were not letting him take the blame, and he gingerly grabbed your hand taking you up to hill and back to the Homestead, but instead of going inside, you both sat on the boulder that overlooked the place. There was a peaceful silence between you both, even Milo was silent. You finally decided to face your fear and break the serenity of the forest. "Thank you for spending time with me, Connor. It makes me feel good that you didn't go on a mission today.." You quietly whispered, making Connor jump and look at you. "Did you just.....?!" Connor was at a loss for words, just like you were for years. "Yeah....I....I guess I did....my voice sounds dumb doesn't it...? I can stop talking if you want...." You mumbled, turning away. Connor lightly took your head making you face him. "No, no. Your voice is beautiful. I would wake up everyday just to hear it if I could." Connor said politely, giving you a small smile.
You returned the smile and laid your head on Connor's shoulder, which he then wrapped his arms around you and you both continued to watch the sun go down. Meanwhile, inside the Homestead, Achilles and Paul was watching you both. "Two miracles in one day. First Connor is having fun, and now (y/n) actually talked." Achilles smiled with a sigh, leaning back in his chair. "Lets hope this day gets better." Paul said, a wide grin on his face.
