You were hearing the screams and band playing while your school team-The Pirates (wow, thats predictable)- were winning the football game 15 to 10. You sat near the railing of the ledge that overlooked the stadium when Half-Time was called for the teams. You huffed and squeezed your hand tightly over your long-gone mother's necklace.
It was a (f/c) gem shaped as a heart and you never EVER took it off. A shadow loomed over you and you froze. "Hey, you seem lonely. What's your name?" A teenager about three years older than you asked. You said nothing. "Hm, not gonna talk, huh? Well, I'm Edward. Edward--"
"KENWAY! HALF TIMES ALMOST OVER SO GET YOUR BUTT OVER HERE!" His coach called. "Hmph, hope I can see you later?" He asked. No answer. He sighed and walled off, leaving your knees to buckle and fall, your hands dragging on the cold bars. "Kenway. Talked to....me? No, not possible." You muttered, your sister running up and dragging you off after the game ended.
~next day~

You grabbed your necessary things to bring home once your last class was over. Finally, the weekend. You sighed. You slowly closed your locker to see Edward leaning against the neighboring locker. "I never got your name." He said, a warm smile painted his face and his piercing blue eyes burned into your own (e/c) orbs. "(Y/n). There, happy?" You spat. "She speaks!" Jack Rackham praised from behind Edward. "Shut your gob, man." Edward said with a slight chuckle in his voice.  Your eyes narrowed and you pushed past them, trying to ignore that a popular person was talking to a lame person like you. (Omg that hurt me. You guys aren't lame. I promise. You give me a reason to keep updating this book.)

~next day again~

Your alarm clock blared and you slammed a fist onto it. You groaned as your father walked in and opened the curtains. You hissed and covered your head. "C'mon vampire get up." Your father joked. "If you get out I will." You retorted. He smiled and walked out, shutting the door behind him. You took a moment to study outside. It was foggy, and you smiled. Perfect. The small voice in your brained purred. You sat up and changed into a (f/c) turtle neck, blue jeans, (f/c) boots, your (h/l) (h/c) hair staying a bit tangled. You grabbed your drawing satchel and walked out of your room after brushing your teeth. "Where are you going, (y/n)?" You father asked, the faint sound of piano playing from your sisters room. "To the school. To go sit under the huge tree and draw it." You informed your father. "Take care, love." He said, going back to reading his newspaper. You shrugged and walked out of the house and onto the silent street. "Good evening, (y/n)! How are you doing?" Your friend Jacob asked. His black trench coat brushing the ground lightly. "Good evening, Frye. And I'm fine. You?" You returned the greeting. He smirked and said, "Ever dandy, Miss (y/n)! Just finished having my tea and crumpets!" He said, mocking his own culture. You laughed slightly and you both talked for a bit before he had to leave.
You soon made it to the school and the autumn air blowed your hair into your eyes. You sat under the welcoming branches of the tree as they welcomed you into it's protective embrace. You took out your sketchbook and began humming a random song until a twig snapped shortly after you sat down. Your heard jolted up to see Edward standing a few feet away, shifting his feet in a nervous manner. Your eyes narrowed and you went back to drawing, allowing your mind to relieve it's stress as your nimble fingers stroked the fragile paper with the pencil. Before you even knew what happened, Edward was sitting right next to you, craning his neck to see your drawing, his blonde hair barely touching your (h/c) strands. "You're skilled. Do you take art?" He asked. You shook your head. "I didn't get it for this semester." You whispered, your voice hardly heard. "That sucks, your really good, lass." He complimented. "What're you even doing here Edward? Why would you even talk to someone like me?" You asked, voice growing to a tone that sounded as if you demanded answers. "This tree means a lot to me, (y/n). And I talk to you cause you look like someone with no friends, or faith on depending on someone. I see something special inside you. A small little flicker of light." He explained, raising his hands in defeat. You looked away and your hair covered your eyes, hiding all the guilt and doubt inside them. "Just.....Go away, Edward." You said, voice barely audible once again. "Why? I want to be-I mean-hang out with you. But only if you would just open up." Edward pleaded. You stayed silent for a few moments until you looked at him, not noticing the tears brimming your eyes. "Fine then, Kenway. I'll trust you." You chocked out those never used words. His eyes lightened up and a smile beamed across his face, until he noticed your tears. He hesitantly raised a hand, but mustered up enough courage to touch you. You were paralyzed at his touch and watched with wide eyes as he swiped the tears off your face.

Throughout that whole time you and him were there, he's been making you open up by asking questions and cracking jokes that either made you laugh, or just tilt your head in confusion like a little puppy. The way your eyes always grew large and innocent always got him into a muttering and babbling mess that whole time. It proved to him that he didn't only want to be friends. As you both talked, a raindrop fell onto your nose, making your eyes cross to look at your nose, which Edward laughed at, until he looked up and one landed in his eye, making him look back down and you to have your chance to laugh. It began to rain harder and Edward decided to take you home. "You know you don't have to waste your time doing this." You said. But he shook his head. "I have tons of time to waste. So why not waste my time on you? Your more interesting than Thatch, or Vane, or Jack, and even Mary." Edward smiled warmly, making you blush a bit. As you both ran with no umbrella to his house (it was closer to the school) so you both could dry off and hop into his car. You both made it there and Edwards mother looked up. She looked weary and old, but her eyes were strong and willing. "Ah! Who's this Edward?" His mother asked. "This is (y/n). I'm going to drive her home." Edward said. "Ain't she a beauty?" Edwards father asked, poking his head out from behind a door. "Aye! Edward caught himself a magnificent fish in the sea!" His mother agreed. You and Edward both blushed. "W-We're n-not d-dating, m-ma'am." You stuttered from embarrassment and cold. "Anyway, we'll be off." Edward quickly said, gesturing you to go outside and wait. So you stood outside for what seems like forever, but was only five minutes. Edward walked out and draped one of his jackets over your shoulders and you zipped it up, grateful for the warmth. Edward glanced at your silent being and a light blush covered his cheeks when he saw the jacket sagging down one of your shoulders. You remembered you had to take off the turtleneck due to how wet and clinging it was, so you pulled up the jacket to hide your tank-top and bra with a heavy blush creeping onto your face. "Anyways, lets get going." He quickly said. He ran into the rain with you trailing behind and opened the passenger door for you, which you practically dived into. He skidded over the hood of the car and opened the other door, started up the car, and drove off.
"Where do you live?" He asked. "(Street address here)" you answered, pulling up the jacket again. It was a blue jacket with a white ship's steering wheel on the back, the zipper was a small ship, and the pockets had a pirate skull symbol on them. Edward soon pulled up on your street and you prepared to get out, but Edward stopped you. He grabbed your arm and quickly kissed your cheek. "Keep the jacket. You look cute in it." He winked, making you blush more. He handed you the bag where your turtleneck was kept and you thanked him for the jacket and driving you home.

He said it was no problem and drove off. You turned to see that your father and sister were gone, so you walked to the porch and pulled the spare key from in the mailbox, then unlocked the door. You walked in and closed the door behind you. You walked into the kitchen and found a note.
It read:
"hey (y/n), me and dad left for the night to see the stepsisters. And we left you home since we know you don't exactly like them. Be good, K? K.
~Sis and Dad."
You stuffed your hands into the pockets of the jacket, and felt a piece of paper. You pulled it out and opened it. It was Edwards phone number. Suddenly the kiss he gave you on your cheek began to tingle, sending a shock of happiness down your back and butterflies into your stomach. I guess......I guess I can trust him.. You sighed.
