It was raining. Hard. You just stood there in front of your now dead parents, your (h/l) (h/c) hair sagging over your shoulders. You held two roses, one red, and one blue. You placed the blue on on your mothers grave, and the red one on your fathers. "You have served the creed well, may you rest forever knowing I will complete your mission in getting rid on Starrik." You whispered, able to hold your tears. You turned only to bump into someones chest. You looked up to see Jacob holding an umbrella above the both of you, trying to keep a smile on his face. "You okay?" He asked, putting his arm around your waist gently. "I watched them die. Mothers throat was slit open and fathers heart got shot..." You muttered, tears beginning to pour from your eyes. You denied that it was tears and passed it off as rain, then began to walk away, tearing yourself from Jacobs arm. He caught up to you and looked at your silent form, watching ad you kept walking in the rain. He was heartbroken to see you acting....well....not you. Your (e/c) eyes had a pained expression, you had black circles under your eyes from no sleep, your posture was low, and your body was shaking even with your assassin attire and jacket. Jacob frowned at you and grabbed your hand, gently pulling you next to him and under the umbrella. You didn't care anymore, but gave him a questioning glance. "What? You think I'm gonna let you get sick, love?" He asked. You shook your head and looked down to your feet, not bothering to look back up. Jacob had to wrap an arm around your shoulder to keep you within his steady pace and from not running into people.
When you both arrived to the train, you walked to the main cart where Evie was and sat down on the floor, curling up into a ball. Evie looked up from her papers and raised an eyebrow, wondering what you were doing out in the rain. "Jacob!" Evie called, and Jacob walked in a few moments later. "Why is (y/n) soaked?" Evie whispered when Jacob got close enough. Jacob leaned his hand on the desk and gave you a worrying glance before answering, "her parents died today and she witnessed it." Evie's eyes widened and called for your step-brother, Henry. "Henry, look at your little sister." Evie said, pointing to you when Henry was in the doorframe of the cart. He looked at you and in a flash was by your side. "(N/n) (nick name), what is wrong?" Henry asked, crouching next to you and rubbing your soaked back. "They are dead." Was all you answered with, burying yourself into Henry's shirt to keep yourself from crying again. Henry helped you up and led you to one of the carts with an empty seater. "Agnes, can you watch her? Maybe help her? You know how to get people to move on, correct?" Henry asked after telling Agnes what had happened. Agnes nodded with a smile and watched as Henry set you down on the seater then left. "Dearie, take these and change before you get sick." Agnes said, holding out some clean old rooks clothes. You remembered when you became a Rook, then asked Evie if you could become an assassin. You nodded weakly and quickly changed. They still fit you thought. "Henry wants me to try and help you get over with your parents death, do you want me to help?" Agnes asked, and you nodded. "Hm. Here, look at this." Agnes said, picking up a nearby white rose and handing it to you. "Lets say this flower is you, yes? Pluck off the petals of every family member you know that has left you." Agnes said, watching as you pulled out every petal except for one. "How is this going to help me, Agnes?" You asked, raising a brow. Agnes chuckled. "You'll see sooner or later. Now, who's that last petal?" You looked at the one beautiful white petal. "It's Henry, my step-brother." You whispered, slightly seeing where this is going. "Now, love, family is just like this rose. The rose will wilt and petals will fall, but the flower lives on until every single petal is gone. It stays strong until the end, yes? You've lost much, but gained much as well. Look outside." Agnes said. You looked outside. The rain had slowed into a drizzle, you could see the moon and stars, and the sun slowly rising, creating a lovely painting in the sky's canvas. "Another day has passed and you've already learned something, haven't you?" Agnes asked. "Yes, Miss Agnes. I've learned...." You looked at the one petaled rose, smiling at it softly, "I've learned that if I stick to the past, I won't know what lies ahead. I should not dwell on what I have lost, but on what I have gained and will lose if I do something." You set the rose down on the seater silently and got up, bowing slightly to Agnes. "Thank you, Miss Agnes." You said before walking out.
You walked to Jacob, who's back was turned from you, and you surprised hugged him, making him jump and squeak slightly. "(Y/N)! Bloody hell, you scared me!" He nervously chuckled as the drunk Rooks laughed behind him. He turned towards you and looked at you questioningly. "(Y/n)?" You only held tighter to Jacob as tears slipped back out of your eyes. His brown eyes softened and he rested a hand on your waist and a hand on your head. "Jacob?" You finally said. "Yes, love?" He replied with a hum, enjoying your warmth. "I hope you know I love you..." You meekly muttered into his trench coat, making him freeze at what you said. He soon hugged you tight and gave a small laugh. "What motivated you to say that?" He asked, stroking your hair. "My fears. Might as well be rejected now instead of at my death bed." You said, looking away from him. "Ha! As if I'd reject you!" Jacob smiled. You tilted your head. "(Y/n) you are a magnificent woman. I don't know HOW or WHY your still single. Oh wait, your not anymore." Jacob said, raising your chin and giving you a small kiss on the lips. You stood there for a second before smiling, those circles under your eyes seeming to disappear. "Just know I'll always be there for you, no matter what, (y/n)."
