"I do."

Jacob said as his brown eyes gazed into my (e/c) ones. He took my left hand and slid the ring on my ring finger. I smiled as one tear slipped down my face.

"Do you, (y/n), take Jacob Frye as your lawfully wedding husband? To love and to hold, to cherish through thick and through thin, through the ups and downs, through sickness and in health?"

The preacher, Henry Green, asked me. I smiled as I took the ring from the ring bearer.

"I do."

I tell them and I take Jacob's hand in mine. I slide the ring on his finger and he smiles down at me.

"I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may kiss your bride Jacob."

Henry said and Jacob smiles. He quickly pulls me in and leans me backwards. I yelp and he kisses my lips. My arms wrap around his neck as our lips moved in sync. He pulls me up quickly and throws me over his shoulder. I scream as he runs down the Isle with me hanging over his shoulder.  I look back at my best friend, evie, to see her with a smile gracing her face.

[Three years later]

"Jacob, (y/n), may I speak with you?"

Henry asked as he wiped his cheeks. His eyes were red and his cheeks were puffy.

"Of course Greenie. What's wrong?"

I ask him as he sits in front of Jacob and I. He folds his hands in front of him as he looks to the ground.

"I'm just going to come out and say it. Evie is dead."

He said as he broke down again. I gasped and Jacob froze. Evie was the only family he had left, well except for me. Evie was the only biological family left.

"H-how?"

Is the only thing Jacob can stutter out. He is in shock and he doesn't know what to think.

"Complications i-in c-ch-child birth. Both e-ev-evie and the child are dead."

Henry says as he cries. I wrap my arms around Jacob's hunched over form. His broad back is tense and his chin rests on his folded hands.

"Come on."

I whisper to Jacob as I take his hand. He looks over at me and nods. I stand up and he follows my head. Jacob walks out with me leading him.

Once we arrive in our train car Jacob broke down. He fell to his knees as he cried. I rushed over to him and kneeled in front of him.

"She's gone (y/n)! Evie is gone!"

He cried as he leaned his head in my shoulder. I wrapped my arms around him as he trembled. His hands shook as he cried and yelled.

"Jacob. Jacob. Jacob!"

I yell and he looks up at me. I wipe his tears as his brown eyes stare into mine. The same love in his eyes that I saw on out wedding day still remained.

"On our wedding day I promised I would stay with you through the ups and downs. Jacob this is a down and I promise you I'll stay. But only if you promise me you will stay with me."

I tell him and he nods. I smile as tears fall down his face. I pull him back into me. He cries some more but I know I'll be able to help him through this. I promised him and he promised me.
