MODERN Altaïr X reader

"Hey Altaïr, how are things over in Afghanistan?"

I ask my husband as I look into the computer. Altaïr is a Lieutenant in the  Marine Corps. He is fighting over seas and this is rare for me to video chat with him.

"Hard and getting harder. We are loosing this battle right now and it doesn't look good. We have called in multiple air support but the enemy won't back down."

Altaïr tells me as he sighs at the end.

"It will be okay Altaïr. Remember who and what your fighting for. Men like you are fighting so that other people can sleep soundly at night."

I tell him and he nods.

"It's just so hard sometimes. Sometimes I wish I was back home with you. I wish I could hold you in my arms and know that your safe."

He tells me as his voice cracks. I give him a small smile.

"Altaïr I miss you too. But knowing that you are over seas and in the direct line of enemy fire is scary for me. I never know if I'll hear your voice again. Altaïr I love you and you know that I am safe."

I tell him as I feel my eyes begin to water.

"I know (y/n). I love you so much. I know this isn't what I wanted to do but I guess it will do. (Y/n) I am co-"

Altaïr was cut off by his door breaking down. I watched as gun fire was sounded. Altaïr grabbed his gun and began shooting. Fear coursed through me as I watched this unfold. Altaïr screamed in pain as a bullet went through his shoulder. I gasped as even more gunfire was sounded.

"Lieutenant Ibn- La'had!"

I hear a man yell as some more marines ran into the room. Altaïr was groaning in pain as they lifted him up and carried him out. One of them shut the computer off and the call was ended.

Three days later I was sitting at the table eating some pizza when the doorbell rang.

"One moment!"

I call out as I wipe my mouth and fix my cloths. A simple marine dark blue tee shirt and jeans. I walked to the door and two marines stood before me. One of them held a flag and the other held some clothing, Dog Tags, and a letter.

"We are looking for the home of Mrs.Ibn- La'had."

The one with the flag said. I opened the door more and stood there with my hands together in front of me.

"This is she. What happened?"

I ask them as worry coursed through my body. Did something happen to Altaïr?

"Ma'am we are very sorry to tell you but Lieutenant Ibn- La'had was killed in a bombing last night. He was on a plane to come home but it was bombed out of the sky. We are truly sorry for your loss."

The man with the dog tags said and I gasped. Tears brimmed my eyes as my hand covered my mouth. I fell to my knees a crying mess. I was sobbing and the marine with the dog tags knelt down in front of me.

"Ma'am these are his belongings. The letter is something he wrote to you the day before he left. Is there anything we could do for you, anything at all?"

The marines asked me as I looked into his eyes.

"N-no thank you."

I cried as I stood up. I took my husbands belongings and the flag.

"If you ever need anything you know where the marine base is near here. Again we are so sorry for your loss."

They said and walked back to their truck. They drove off as I shut the door. I walked Into my room and placed the flag on the bed. I sobbed some more as I realized that Altaïr is truly gone.
