Chapter 17 Henry (or Jayadeep Mir)
The Night's Jewel was the most elegant ship I'd ever seen. Apparently Archer was the captain, because he took the wheel as soon as everyone was on board. Shouting orders to the crew, Archer looked right at home. The wind tugged at his hood, threatening to pull it down, but he didn't seem to care.
I sat up in the crows nest looking down at the deck. I didn't want to get in anyone's way and I didn't want a tour. I could see Evie talking to one of the men at the bow, one foot resting casually on a barrel. I smiled slightly. This was the most relaxed I'd seen her since she came to London.
"Hello Jayadeep," a voice behind me said. "I thought I might find you up here."
Without turning I knew it was Moleck. He was the only person who called me Jayadeep. At least he didn't call me Mr. Mir. "Hello Moleck."
There was a thump, leading me to believe that he'd been in the rigging above me. "Been on a ship before, have you?"
"No, but I've seen enough to know where everything is and what everything is called."
Moleck sat down next to me. "There's something you might want to know about me before I change my mind."
I looked at him curiously. "You've successfully captured my attention. What is it?"
He fidgeted with his belt before taking a deep breath. "Firstly, I'm nothing like one of my brothers."
"What do you mean by that?"
"You'll know in my next sentence. My last name is Cormac."
I stopped and looked at him. He didn't just look like Archer, he looked like someone else... someone different. "Your brother was-"
"Yes," Moleck interrupted me before I could finish. "Yes he was."
"So Archer..." I looked up and realized Moleck was gone. I wished I could have gotten more clarification before he disappeared.
I now had something else to think about besides the ocean and Archer being captain. If Moleck's words and looks told me anything, then Shay had been his brother. But Arno had said that Archer's brother had been Shay. Did that make Moleck and Archer full brothers, or half brothers? It would explain how they got along so well, but then... was Arno their brother too?
"It's a beautiful ship," I heard Evie's faint voice say. I tilted my head and saw her leaning against the railing next to the wheel.
"Isn't she?" Archer smiled at her. "She sails better on the ocean, its a smoother ride, but at this rate we should be on the sea by early tomorrow morning."
"I've never seen the sea," Evie said, smiling back. "I've always heard its the most beautiful place on earth."
"Hmmm... I don't know. Great Iguana is a nice place, as long as you ignore the pirates walking around like idiots."
Evie's laugh rose through the air. "Is Nassau that way as well?"
"No," Archer spun the wheel to avoid a barge. "Nassau's been overrun by the English. They really aren't that helpful." It took a moment before he seemed to realize what he said. "Not, not that... never mind."
Evie laughed again. "I've heard that sailors sing while they sail. Is that true?"
Archer shot her a mischievous look. "Of course. Let's here Randy Dandy'O boys!"
The crew cheered and started singing the song I recognized from Archer. For some reason Archer's voice was loudest. Among the crew I could also hear Moleck and Arno.
Now we are ready to sail for the horn.
Way hey, roll and go!
Our boots and our clothes, boys, are all in the pawn.
To be rollicking Randy Dandy-O!
The song had a sort of relaxing note to it. Not like the songs I usually heard around London, but not unlikable either.
Heave a pawl, oh heave away!
Way hey, roll and go!
The anchor's on board and the cable's all stored.
To be rollicking Randy Dandy-O!
I found myself humming the tune without really thinking about it.
Soon we'll be warping her out through the locks.
Way hey, roll and go!
Where the pretty young girls all come down in their frocks.
To be rollicking Randy Dandy-O!
I heard some loud complaints from Jacob that didn't stop the crew at all. I couldn't help but laugh. Clearly Jacob didn't like sailing songs.
Heave a pawl, oh heave away!
Way hey, roll and go!
The anchor's on board and the cable's all stored.
To be rollicking Randy Dandy-O!
I tuned out the rest of the song. They seemed to be repeating the same thing over and over. While I enjoyed the noise on deck, I didn't need to pay attention. Evie didn't either. She landed next to me with a soft thump and a whoosh of fabric. "What are you doing up here Henry?"
"Just enjoying the views and the wind," I smiled up at her.
She smiled back. "Well, when you get tired of sitting up here I'll be below."
Her hand brushed my shoulder as she walked by and climbed down to the deck.
The anchor's on board and the cable's all stored.
To be rollicking Randy Dandy-O...

We interrupt Assassin's Creed: Syndicate to bring you Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. XD
Hope you all enjoyed this chapter, it took me longer than I would have liked to finish. I put Randy Dandy-O up at the top so you know what the crew is singing. I don't own the song, but it is one of the not quite so bad shanties. :D
May the wind blow strong in your sails! See you in The Assassins of Skyrim tomorrow! ;)
