Chapter Seven
Chapter Seven
They landed on Kamino a few hours later. The sky was filled with rain clouds, and it was getting very late. They had talked most of the trip there, but every once in a while they'd just sit in quiet, enjoying the fact that they were finally on a mission together, alone. Denali was right, it truly was kind of like their honeymoon, even if it wasn't going to last long. Obi-Wan liked the sound of that, the fact that they were going to spend time with each other. They both quickly got out of their ships and ran to the door of the cloning facility. They hadn't realized just how rainy the conditions of the planet were. All they could see around the facility was water.
"Hello, master Jedi. The Prime minister is expecting you." A woman said to them. She obviously wasn't human. She had white skin, a very long neck, dark eyes, two slits where her nose would've been, and a round, bald, head.
Denali looked at Obi-Wan, shocked. He looked right back at her, the same amount of confusion on his face.
"Expecting us?" Denali asked the woman. She nodded.
"After all these years, we were beginning to think you weren't coming. Please, follow me." She said to them. Denali looked over at Obi-Wan again before following the woman down the long white hallway. The two Jedi were very uneasy about what was going on, but they knew that they needed to get to the bottom of this mystery. And the only way they could do that was by following the strange alien woman into the bowels of the cloning facility. After a few minutes of walking, they finally reached a room at the end of the hall. The alien woman opened the door, and the three of them walked in. The room was large, and a single chair stood at the very end of it. Sitting in that chair, was another Kaminoan alien. He stood up as the three approached him.
"May I present Lama Su, Prime Minister of Kamino." The woman said as she extended her hand in the direction of the man. Denali and Obi-Wan bowed respectfully. "And these are Masters-"
"Obi-Wan Kenobi." He introduce himself.
"Denali Bleway." She said with a hopeful smile.
"I trust you're going to enjoy your stay." The Prime minister said to them. He extended his hand to two chairs that had appeared across from his own. "Please, have a seat." The two Jedi sat down beside each other as Lama took his seat as well. "And now to business. You will be delighted to hear that we are on schedule." Denali looked over at Obi-Wan, not sure exactly sure what the Prime minister meant. The man continued.
"Two-hundred thousand are ready, with a million more well on the way." He said to them.
"That's great news." Denali said to him, pretending she knew what he was talking about.
"Please tell your Master Sifo-Dyas that his order will be met on time." Lama informed them.
"I'm sorry, Master....?" Obi-Wan trailed off. Denali was thankful that she wasn't the one looking stupid at the moment.
"Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas is still a leading member of the Jedi Council, is he not?" Lama asked them.
"Master Sifo-Dyas was killed nearly ten years ago." Denali told the Kaminoan.
"Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that. But I'm sure he would've been proud of the army we've built for him." Lama Su told them. Obi-Wan watched as Denali's eyes widened.
"An army? Did he mention what it was for?" Denali asked the Kaminoan.
"Indeed, Master Difo-Dyas stated that this army was for the Republic. And might I say, what a fine army this is indeed. You two must be anxious to inspect the new units yourself." The Prime Minister said as he got to his feet. The two Jedi followed his actions.
"That's why we're here." Denali said with an uneasy smile as they walked out of the room. Obi-Wan could sense her uneasiness as they strolled through the facility. For some reason she didn't trust these people. Anyone who gets paid to clone people seemed strange at least in her book. The two Kaminoans took the lead, while Denali and Obi-Wan walked behind them. Knowing that the people in front of them couldn't see them, Obi-Wan put his hand on Denali's back.
"Relax, it's not like you're here alone." He whispered into her ear. She gave him a small smile as he put his hand down. The whole tour of the grand army and it's cloning process had taken around an hour to complete. Denali had been nervous during the first part, but after Obi-Wan told her that she wasn't alone, she felt better.
"Who exactly is the man you've been cloning?" Denali asked towards the end of the tour.
"A bounty hunter by the name of Jango Fett." Lama said to her. She thought that the name sounded familiar.
"We would certainly like to meet this man, if that's alright with you." Obi-Wan told them.
"I would love to arrange a meeting with him." The woman who had introduced them earlier spoke up. They walked through a doorway, which lead to a balcony that over-looked the hangar bay where clones were being loaded onto ships. Denali couldn't help but wonder how many more would be created in the future. There were already so many, she was sure that the cloning facility would eventually run out of DNA to use if something happened to Mr.Fett.
Many short minutes later, the Prime Minister's assistant lead them to their resting chambers.
"My apologies, but many of our other rooms are taken by fellow Kaminoans. Not only are we a clone facility, we are a shelter as well. Would it be alright if you two could share a room til further notice?" The assistant asked them. Denali did her best to hide her grin.
"This will be fine, thank you." Obi-Wan said.
"When will we be seeing Mr.Fett?" Denali asked her before she could leave.
"Hopefully sometime tomorrow morning. We will come by around noon to pick you up." After the woman asked if they needed anything, and they declined, she left them. They walked into the apartment-like chamber they would be sharing, and shut the door behind them. Denali looked around, a huge grin on her face. The room was circular, had white tiled floors, white walls, a table in the middle of the room with two chairs, then two doorways that lead out of the room. There was a large window that showed outside, rain pattered against the thick glass.
"This is nice." Denali said as she took off her cloak and hung on the edge of one of the chairs. She walked over to the window, looking outside at the storming weather. Denali loved rain. She enjoyed the flashes of lightning, the sound of thunder. It was all so exciting to her. Obi-Wan removed his cloak as well, setting it beside his wife's. He walked over to her, wrapping his arms around her. She smiled as he rested his chin on her shoulder.
"You're right, you know." He said to her as he kissed her cheek.
"Right about what?" She asked him.
"This is very nice. I love the fact that I'm here with you." He whispered to her. She felt chills from on the back of her neck, feeling his warm breath. It had been so long since she had spent real quality time with her husband, and she was enjoying the fact that they were together. She knew that he was enjoying it as well. She turned around so that she was facing him, and put her arms around his neck. He smiled as he wrapped his around her waist. She smirked and chuckled.
"What's so funny?" He asked her. She gave him a small side-smile as she tucked a loose strand of his hair behind his ear.
"I just really love your hair." She said, causing them both to laugh. He pressed his lips against hers, the warm ness of his touch sending shivers through her spine. She pulled him closer, feeling like the happiest girl in the world. The happiest girl in the galaxy, the universe. Nothing could ruin that moment.
Nothing at all.
